This is the wonderful Jed Reed. He was such an amazing model for this shoot and I couldn't be more proud of him and the outcome!
I went back and forth on whether I wanted more or less depth of field. I obviously eventually decided on more. I like how it allowed me to display what the figures are drowning in instead of them just floating pointlessly in blurry space.
This is the story of a dragonfly I found drowning, best viewed in sequence. I walked past this beauty floating in the water, took a photo, but sadly assumed that he had already drowned. Not far down the path I took a shot of a butterfly in flight, and was then turned around by some wild pigs. On my return to this water, the dragonfly made a single struggling motion - he was alive! I carefully picked him up on my finger, and waited while he preened the water from his face, flapped the water from his wings, warmed up his body by vigorously flapping, smiled at me, and then took off up to the sky. A heartwarming adventure. The photos in this story are best viewed in sequence.
Here he is in the water.
more people die from drowning than all natural disasters combined + terrorist attacks. probably didn't know that cause drowning victims aren't interesting enough to be on the media. (more than most are children represented by legos)
