Drowned World....
Last night walking around tracking the edge of the flood waters encroachment came to a crazy scene. A little 'fresh beer' cafe all lit up like a christmas tree titanic and the water has just reached its top step. Perfectly surrounded by water
'cept you can jump doorsteps like tombraider to get across to it...so we do...
i thinks: shit man I gotta have a beer with them. Might be the last trade they do in a while.
Great great atmos.
This harbor seal in Elliot Bay, off Alki Beach in West Seattle, looks a lot like Falco in the The Neverending Story. I wonder if the dragon was modeled after a seal.
These seals loll very close to the beach, catching salmon and popping their heads out to watch people. It amazes me that people hardly ever notice them, even when they're splashing, rolling around, and waving their flippers. It seems that in order to notice them, you need to be either a photographer or no older than three.
Seagulls will hover around these guys waiting for them to catch a fish and will then mob them and try to steal it, despite the danger of being decapitated or drowned by a snapping, thrashing seal. As humorous and friendly as these animals look, they have formidable teeth and impressive strength.
The photo quality is very poor but I was taking this photo on a long zoom, with the seals just microdots in the distance.
‘Cause she’s a cruel mistress
And a bargain must be made
But oh, my love, don’t forget me
I let the water take me
