Masdar City (مدينة مصدر, Madīnat Maṣdar) is an arcology project in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. The initial design banned automobiles, as travel will be accomplished via public mass transit and personal rapid transit (PRT) systems, with existing road and railways connecting to other locations outside the city.
The ' Bella Vista Dive ' so named by Sydney Metro on their Facebook page.
Standing on the footpath of the newly opened Balmoral Rd bridge, it affords a view of the dive that's just great to observe the ongoing works.
Here we're looking north to the end of the Viaduct & the beginning of the dive. The track bed looks a bit rough after the recent rain. The Dive is 800 metres long 19 metres wide & up to 10 metres high.

Driverless automobiles will ease traffic jams. And the same sorts of automation that can squeeze more cars on to the roads can also cut accidents. The novel safety devices can help carmakers squeeze more profit out of buyers. But drivers soon come to expect them as standard, as do regulators. As happened with seat belts and airbags, electronic stability control—which prevents skids though automated braking—has just become compulsory for new cars in America and will be in Europe from 2014.Volvo's aim is that by 2020 no one will ever be killed or seriously hurt driving its latest models, says its safety-research chief, Thomas Broberg. Already, new safety devices are helping to cut accidents: in 2010 traffic deaths in America were the lowest since 1949. However, there were still almost 33,000 of them, so there is a long way to go.
What of the danger that all these crash-prevention devices will lure drivers into taking more risks?Cars are getting cleverer, but it will be years before they can make up for the stupidity of some drivers.
Lille has its metro system since 1983. The trains are driverless and, in the best French tradition, run on rubber tyres. The branch to the North of the agglomeration with this overgrond part was openden in 1999.

This truck sped down a hill after parking brakes failed. Even the wheel chocks failed to hold it on the steep hill. Worker in truck bed jumped. Two poles destroyed on the way down the hill, narrowly missing the house and parked car by a few inches. Concrete and rebarb stretched three feet. Truck and pole totaled. Pole replaced and electrical service restored in six hours. Hats off to Mexico CFE. Great job!
Hardly a day passes without some news about autonomous transportation. Apple, Uber, Waymo, Tesla, Ford, GM, Toyota – it seems as if every automotive and tech company has its horse in the race to bring driverless cars to the United States. And for good reason: driver error is a major cause of automotive deaths in America. But, safety is only one potential upside to autonomous vehicles. Traffic efficiencies, environmental benefits, and the potential for shorter commute times have all been touted as benefits.
On July 25 at the Brookings Institution hosted a full-day conference on how connecting vehicles to smart infrastructure will transform the future of transportation. Panelists at “Autonomous cars: Science, technology, and policy” discussed a specific type of autonomy: infrastructure-enabled autonomous vehicles. Engineers, researchers, economists, and government officials provided a realistic outlook on the current state of driverless cars.

The Port Liner was great fun -- a fully automated shuttle taking us all the way into the city centre of Kobe (30 mins), totally driverless and along a stunning route. I was seated right in front of the vehicle, where the driver would "normally" be sitting.

I didn't see this one coming,so there wasn't much time to compose it,but have uploaded it as it depicts a former First South Yorkshire bus on training duties in Bristol on 13th May 2014.
To those who drive buses, the situation may seem familiar, and memories of the first time out without a qualified driver to accompany them.
The photo,of course, was of the bus,not it's occupants, but sometimes people are included by chance.Boris talks of driverless tube trains, but we are quite awhile away from driverless buses,or are we ?
