Stagecoach Manchester (Sharston depot) MX11HGJ 36419 seen on Broadoak Road, crossing Hollyhedge Road in Wythenshawe on driver training duties
New to Gale, Haselmere in March 1979 as APH513T, this Duple Dominant bodied Bedford YMT was with GM Buses by the mid nineties as a driver training vehicle. In between it had gained the dateless mark CIB3683 when it worked for Kentishmen of Swanley and received its current mark of CDT322T by Stuart Johnson (Dealer) in May 1989. The coach then saw service with Douras, Leasowe. When the proprietor passed away it was acquired by GM Buses and is seen here at the training centre at Bennett Street, Manchester.
Fleet No 1913. And the driver being trained was...me; in preparation for the coming IOW Festival when I'll be doing Festival shuttle duties.
To mark the 40th anniversary of Stagecoach Bus & Coach operations, I have staged a photoshoot with my few Stagecoach models.
Featured here are two Leyland Leopards with iconic Alexander Y Type bodywork.
On the right is a representation of Stagecoach as they first began to branch out. In the mid to late 1980’s, the company set their sights on Glasgow and launched a low cost operation named Magicbus which they hoped would entice passengers away from the well established Strathclyde Buses among others. For this venture a number of second hand buses were bought in, including ex-London AEC Routemasters. Depicted here however is a nod to some of the elderly Y-Types bought from Kelvin Scottish. It has been said that these buses were in poor condition and poorly suited for what Stagecoach sought to do in Glasgow. A few years later they would sell up this operation to KCB Network, withdrawing from Glasgow city services for the early nineties and not returning until 1997 to try their luck against Strathclyde & KCB’s new owner - First.
On the left is TSJ85S, a part of Stagecoach Western operations which was much more successful. The Leopard Y Type depicted here was inherited from Western Scottish when Stagecoach bought them out and continued to work for some years across the Western area. It would eventually be repainted into a version of the beachball livery, before finding a new home with Stagecoach Manchester as a Driver Trainer.

Originally a traffic car in a set of Jaguar XFs with the Central Motorways Police Group in 2010 at their Perry Barr base, now serves as a driver training car for those training on an advanced ticket, mostly for traffic officers but is regularly used by the football unit to carry officers who interact & gather evidence amongst football crowds. This is one and truly the last of its kind as for marked Jaguar police cars in the whole of the United Kingdom.

A long way from its' base at the Bo'ness & Kinniel Railway, 37025 "Inverness TMD" comes off the Cardiff Tidal branch whilst "running round" its train at Pengam Sdgs. on 27/1/2016.
The former 7054 survived deregulation due to it being attached to the training fleet as a mobile classroom. Now numbered A231 in the ancillary fleet it is seen at Bennett Street yard in 1993. It lasted until Stagecoach days and was then sold on, it appearing at the Trans Lancs rally at Heaton Park in 1997 wearing a blue and white based livery.

Fleet No 1904. My second vehicle for Jack Up the 80s 2018 and the first time I've driven this one. Thoroughly enjoyed it too.
