I've driven through this junction hundreds of times and often wondered what this shot would look like. When I saw snow on the ground I knew that would give extra contrast so I parked up and went up onto a foot bridge to tkae the shot. I could not get a full sequence of the traffic lights in one exposure so this is 4 shots stacked in photoshop.

Just the wishful thinking is not enough … but it needs just some positive actions and – who knows – the world could be at our feet …

Wishing you a perfect week-end and that all your dreams come true!!!

Well, nobody has driven this classic for a good long time, but its appeal holds up pretty well. One of the ultimate of barn finds, this 1934ish Dodge Brothers 2 door sedan sits on a forgotten farm well off the highway in northwestern Illinois.Though this picture was taken 2 years ago,the old car remains and is definitely due for a revisit.

The Dodge Brothers started out making bicycles but soon turned to making quality automotive parts. They were given a 10% stake in the Ford Motor Co. which they soon sold to start their own brand of quality cars and trucks. The brothers both died unexpectantly in 1920,and in 1928,their company was sold to Chrysler....

Barrel racing! The horse and rider race into the arena, weave a "clover-leaf" pattern around three barrels, and race back past the finish line as quickly as possible. This young girl and her horse show the intensity that competitors bring to this sport. Curving around the barrels, without touching or tipping them, is the most exciting and risky part of the race.

Move back they say. Get more in the picture. You are way too close! I hear it all the time. “There’s no people in your pictures “ my former boss would say. What can you expect from a former high school yearbook photographer? Basically I’m a portrait photographer of inanimate objects. There is never a doubt about what the main subject is. When I encounter an object that seems to be photogenic, I treat it as if I were doing a portrait of the queen of England. Lighting, framing, perspective, etc. must all be considered of course. Call it “in your face photography” if you wish, but please don’t tell me to back up and include more context. This is my style and it is what it is. Perhaps I was ossified by having only an old Minolta film camera with the standard 50 mm. lens to work with for the first forty years of my photographic life. Seeing the world through a nifty fifty! I guess I am not very artistic after all. I never did look good in a beret.

I will beat her! I've lost to her before but not this time!

P.S What is it with mean spirited people who love to pick on the soft hearted? I read about here on Flickr and it happens in real life too. Get a life!

For the people that get picked on, I understand; It is disheartening when it happens you feel deflated and shocked but then you fight back by not changing who you are. That is the only way to win or they keep doing it because they're miserable so they want to make you just as miserable. Don't give them the power or satisfaction.

For the sociopaths; If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. The world doesn't need to hear it.

We have just driven from Cambridge to Stow - a 2 hour drive normally, but today was a little exceptional! We don't get decent snow falls often enough for there to be good systems in place - and chaos usually reigns - as it did today! We were greeted by quite a sight back here and had to leave the car in the Square, where it will probably stay for a day or two!!

Not a great composition but had to stop for the sky and the geese.

This 1960 Aston Martin DB4GT, driven by Urs and Arlette Muller, was sporting a set of black wire wheels at the Goodwood Revival instead of its usual Borrani silver set I've seen it with previously, adding a sense of menace to the car that was previously missing. It also looks like the suspension has been worked on as well, with the car sitting slightly lower than normal (although this may be the combination of wheels/offset/angle of shot that give this illusion).

I've struggled to find any information about this DB4GT, so don't know its provenance, although I think its likely to be a continuation/replica given that there were only 75 genuine DB4GT's produced, 6 of which were in the lightweight spec where aluminium was used along with some extensive drilling of solid parts and stripping of luxury items such as the radio, clock, window washer bottle and bumpers.

A number of standard DB4GT's were brought closer to the lightweight spec after they were produced, but its not clear how extensive this was in terms of fitting of aluminium panels or the drilling of the chassis members.

The DB4GT itself is shorter in the wheelbase by 5 inches compared to the regulat DB4, and features closed headlights abd the larger bonnet vent. In keeping with Aston Martins luxury ethos, the DB4GT's were still fitted with leather upholstery and wilton carpets, something I'm sure was soon replaced or removed by owners keen to further improve performance.

…due to my distinct lack of inspiration/mojo over the last week or so I present my half-a$$ed attempt at photographic ‘art’.

My whelmed has never been so under…

Mit einem langen ARS Altmann-Zug aus Regensburg konnte 193 552-7 "Responsibility Driven" (saving CO2 in sustainable, cross-border connections) bei Feldmoching fotografiert werden.

Near Feldmoching I was able to take this picture of TX Logistik's 193 552-7 "Responsibility Driven" (saving CO2 in sustainable, cross-border connections) hauling a long ARS Altmann train from Regensburg to Verona Q. E.

Found this little dandelion on a walk and just thought to grab an image really quickly! I honestly didn't know dandelions were around in the winter.

Sunset, International Car Forest, Goldfield Nevada

I'd driven up to Doncaster to collect a new camera body (K3 mk iii), drove to the nature reserve to meet up with daughter. I had the car door half open as I started to set up the camera and eat my sandwiches. I happened to glance upwards where this kestrel was directly above. So, these shots were the first burst from the new camera.

Thanks to everyone who takes time to view, fave or comment on my pictures.

The staircase is relatively moderate in terms of the height of the steps and the distance between them.

I wanted to show a little boy that you can ride down there at a leisurely pace.

So I got on my bike at the top and had a firm grip on the brakes so that I didn't go too fast.

However, I had misjudged things a little, as the wheels didn't have any contact with the ground as I was going downhill, so I ended up going faster than I initially thought.

I had already seen myself falling, but just as I reached the bottom I was able to come to a halt without crashing my bike.

I was lucky.

Overconfidence is rarely good and can end quite badly with broken bones in old age.

Driven to Tears - The Police

Lexington Lab Band version

www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKox6Y7QjdI

How can you say that your not responsible?

What does it have to do with me?

What is my reaction?

What should it be?

Confronted by this latest atrocity

Driven to tears

Driven to tears

Driven to tears

Hide my face in my hands,

shame wells in my throat

My comfortable existence is reduced

To a shallow, meaningless party

Seems that when some innocents die

All we can offer them

is a page in a some magazine

Too many cam'ras and not enough food

Cause this is what we've seen

Driven to tears

Driven to tears

Driven to tears

Protest is futile

Nothing seems to get through

What's to become of our world?

Who knows what to do?

Driven to tears

Driven to tears

Repost

Rounding up a herd of young steers for participation in a team roping event. The steers wear protective headgear so that when they are lassoed the skin surrounding their horns won't be damaged. The cowboys and/or cowgirls work in teams of two on horses. One lassoes the horns of a released steer, and the other the back leg(s). The ropers are timed how fast they can perform this skill, which originated on open range ranches. The ropers often miss the steer and it "gets away." Even if it is successfully roped, the steer is immediately released to return to its herd.

I am running about a month behind in my back log of images. At that point in time I was still seeing lots of birds as to now when the high heat has either killed off a lot or driven them away.
