Had this idea in my head for a while. Whilst I love the effects obtained from rotating the camera during a long exposure I always end up feeling there is something lacking. So I came up with this to give a little context to the shot.
Framed the shot so that the rotation part and my hand didn't meet. Noted focus position for the rotation then refocussed on my hand. Clicked open the shutter and painted my hand and the paper with a torch gelled yellow. Off with the torch and capped the lens.
Next I focused for the rotation part of the exposure , set my rgb torch off on fade mode and replaced the paper with a small glass lens. Ensuring that the light was passing through it and it was just kissing the center of the frame. I had already done a few tests so I knew a two second exposure count between capping and rotating would not over expose the image at 30 degree increments.
Straight from the camera light drawing.
Nice 1.
