It’s not how I imagined it, it’s much harder. I imagined it deeply and often but everything imagined is soft and giving. Things can easily be erased when imagined. The real is hard on the soul but it makes it stronger, gives it something sturdy to build its wings. There was a time when I lived in daydreams. I’m not lying and only barely stretching the truth (that whimsy vision that has not form to begin with). I didn’t breathe dream air or eat dream foods but almost everything else I chose to keep separated from the real. I worked and studied and talked, but my mind was never there for those things. And this isn’t exactly an easy task! Truly I was constructing a whole, complex and detailed life while “living’ the one that was forced upon me. I honestly don’t think highly of myself or my talents, but I admit that I do marvel at my stamina to keep a daydream strong and healthy enough to withstand months and months of passing time. Maybe it’s not my imagination that should be lauded for the success but rather my attention-span. But anyway, those days are over.
