Last night's sunset was a fiery one. In the distance, a wind power station on the mainland stood out very clearly against the red backdrop.

Mother nature once again showing her power to create calm or stormy seas.

How do you feel when you look at the ocean?

Staring at the ocean actually changes our brain waves' frequency and puts us into a mild meditative state. Listening to the waves activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which makes us more relaxed. In addition, the negative ions in the sea breeze have a mood-boosting effect.

Calm seas evoke feelings of tranquility and peace, while stormy seas can inspire a sense of awe, excitement, or even fear, depending on individual experiences and perspectives

«Σήμερον κρεμᾶται ἐπὶ ξύλου ὁ ἐν ὕδασι τὴν γῆν κρεμάσας. Στέφανον ἐξ ἀκανθῶν περιτίθεται ὁ τῶν ἀγγέλων Βασιλεύς. Ψευδῆ πορφύραν περιβάλλεται ὁ περιβάλλων τὸν οὐρανὸν ἐν Νεφέλαις. Still feeling a bit under with a cold but had to get out of the house. More weather warnings - so headed west - avoiding cliffs and the coast as I'd just want to get out. There was too much hail to use my camera so out with the phone, editing done in Snapseed

Crossing South Baffin: morning Light and Departure

The pre-flight morning walk takes place with camera in hand before a two-hour flight to Pangnirtung, once a whaling station, now home to a thriving fishery.

The dawn light grips the city in a firey brilliant display. Deep indigo shadows stretch across the snow-dusted ground, while the sky erupts in burning streaks of gold and bruised purple above the buildings and parked vehicles. The scene is a striking interplay of industrial lines and wild, untamed atmosphere—a familiar architecture that has formed the backdrop of everyday life here for years.

With camera raised, I pause to capture the glow reflecting off the dark cladding of the now shuttered US Air Force barracks and the sweeping curves of the modern air terminal building. Soon, the bags and gear will be loaded, and the twin-engine charter aircraft will lift skyward, turning north, tracing a path across the frozen expanse of South Baffin, across Cumberland Sound toward Pangnirtung.

Journeys in the North always demand a moment to look back before moving forward, letting the sheer brilliance of the morning sink in one last time.

Scottsdale, Arizona - November 27, 2025: Sunset in Scottsdale, Arizona.

One thing I love about wide open vistas is that the sky seems to go on forever. When clouds are present, the drama to the scene goes up 1000%. These shots were all taken from the road.

I stood there watching the clouds wrap around the peaks like something alive — heavy, slow, inevitable. Back home, I shaped this photo to match how it felt in that moment: dramatic, quiet, and a little unsettling. This is more than a landscape to me — it's the weight of solitude, and the strange peace I find in it.

An old shot of the Alabama Hills.

Vultures are scavengers, meaning they eat dead animals. They rarely attack healthy animals, but may kill the wounded or sick. When a carcass has too thick a hide for its beak to open, it waits for a larger scavenger to eat first.

Vast numbers have been seen upon battlefields. They gorge themselves when prey is abundant, until their crops bulge, and sit, sleepy or half torpid, to digest their food.

These birds do not carry food to their young in their talons but disgorge it from their crops. The mountain-dwelling bearded vulture is the only vertebrate to specialize in eating bones, and does carry bones to the nest for the young, and it hunts some live prey

A focus on Sunrise over Lake Tahoe and Emerald Bay

EN A tree, an open field, a sky full of clouds. Nothing particularly complicated, and yet I could spend a long time looking at this landscape. I like this tree. It seems to have lived through so many seasons without asking much of anyone. It is simply there. The wind passes, the clouds change, the years go by. And it remains.

Perhaps the quietest landscapes are also the ones with the most to tell us...
