Silver Return to Stipanja Bay

There are moments when the sea stops being blue and becomes a mirror for a sky announcing change. I captured the speed-taxi returning from Crikvenica to our Stipanja Bay. This time, the golden hour hid behind heavy clouds, leaving behind only dramatic tones and a silence broken only by the distant hum of an engine. The coast in silhouette, the sea like molten metal – this is Šilo in its most honest, "Laganini" edition before nightfall.

Srebrni povratak u uvalu Stipanja

surreal atmosphere just before the rain.

"linear dimensions"

A 10-stop ND filter was used to produce a long-exposure shot of over 2 minutes on this breezy sunrise morn, which created the linear cloud motion in the sky, while a polarizing filter accentuated the lines on the beach.

I'm a sucker for Clouds. I liked the white streak of cloud against the darker sky.

Happy Tree-mendous Thursday...:))

this is the view towards yesnaby - I had tried driving closer but the sea was so rough that it had actually flooded the road about quarter a mile inland.

The Moon emerges through glowing clouds, creating a surreal, galaxy-like scene

P.S. I overexposed the photo to bring out the depth of the clouds

Just messing about with some depth. The sort of shot I wish I had an ultra-wide lense for.

Situated on an island where three lochs meet; Loch Duich, Loch Long and Loch Alsh, the Eilean Donan Castle is one of the most photographed locations in the whole of Scotland if not the whole of the UK. Although rumored to be established on a church, it dates back to the 13th century and stands tall and proud of its heritage amidst some breathtaking scenery.

Today I am starting to upload some of my older photographs, this was taken in a glorious summer of 2014 when the temperatures stayed north of 25 degrees for a full 8 days in Scotland! Sounds almost mythical doesn’t it?

Η μάχη μεταξύ της Αθηνάς και της καταιγίδας

This looks like a serene image taken at the beach at sunset, but actually, the wind was howling like crazy with tropical-force winds. The wind was so strong, I had trouble opening my car door at the beach, and the howling wind was very loud in my ears. A 30 second exposure was used, which rendered the turbulent waves as a serene glaze over the water, but if you look at the trees to the right, you can see they were swaying back and forth like crazy during the 30 second exposure. I used a 6-stop ND filter plus a lens hood to protect the lens, but still had to wipe off water from the camera frequently. I anchored my tripod against some rocks, and pressed down on the camera during the exposure to keep the camera from moving in the wind and tipping over.

This image contains a clash between the serene beauty of nature versus a howling storm beating down on earth, as if re-enacting a battle of the Greek Gods... thus the title.

Πλημμύρα χρωμάτων Flood of colors

on my blog ΛΟΓΕΙΚΩΝ Logicon

The need for flood-proof projects along the Peixeus to protect crops and farmers' income has been imperative for decades.

However, the 'responsible' carelessness has always surpassed even the depleted riverbeds, and the indignation of the world has also taken on the form of a 'flood'.

Paradoxically, the new self-governing authorities have fallen into the job and projects have begun rapidly on many "fronts".

The most extensive, at least from what I've seen, are in progress in the area of the village where I live.

This, obviously, will dramatically change the landscape and images like this and the following

they will not exist again, suddenly acquiring the burden of historical recording. If only nature, aided by the perpetual flow of the river, would pleasantly surprise us in the future but, for the time being, the utility overmatch the aesthetics!

The day is folding into itself, but the street refuses to darken. Under a sky bruised with clouds of fiery gold, the ancient cobblestones hold their breath, a testament to centuries of silent footsteps. D-PB 566, a sleek, modern black wagon, sits poised like a contemporary gargoyle on the stone corridor, its rear lights a vibrant red, marking a moment in time before the inevitable night.

Further up the street, the warm, golden lights of a small shop spill out onto the pavement, an inviting hearth in the encroaching gloom. A distant tower, older than memory, watches over the scene. The two figures on the right, clad in warm coats, pause in their journey, perhaps sensing the ephemeral beauty of this specific sunset. This isn't just a parking street; it’s a living museum where the past and present collide under a sky that seems to set the world on fire. Every stone, every light, and every parked car is a silent actor in this urban drama.

Island of Hiddensee

As the first cold finger of dawn touches the frozen tideline, a lone raven rides the salt-laden wind. Below, a desolate expanse of ice and snow-dusted rock stretches out under a sky bruised with violet and ablaze with molten gold.

This is the 'Watcher of the Wreck,' a solitary sentinel moving through a landscape caught between the dying breath of night and the first harsh light of a northern day. With every beat of its soot-black wings, it carries the secrets of an ancient land, bearing silent witness to the tides that have retreated, and the storms that are yet to come. Beneath its shadow, the silence holds a question: what has the breaking dawn revealed on this forgotten shore?

Like a beautiful painting, there's a beautiful sunrise to be seen just about every morning even on a cloudy day. No matter how thick or dense the clouds are, there is always some indirect or diffusely scattered sunlight visible. From Abu Galum Canyon
