There were some prettty dramatic looking skies here last night with the moody clouds and the crepuscular rays of sunlight!
After the colorful images comes the b&w one. For some reason I like this one. I hope you guys like it too. Not much is done here except shot in RAW with ND8 filter and processed in Lightroom and a little in CS2 but not much at all just burning and dodging here and there. The sky was very dramatic this day!

Preset in LR - we did have some dramatic skies but I didn't capture what I was after... This will do. Shot after our walk, on the way home from picking up a few things. I tried for the rainbow but the clouds weren't cooperating... Happy Sunday evening everyone!

It has been a dramatic night and day in the central part of Italy where a big quake destroyed villages and buildings killing hundreds of people. It is difficult to stay here feeling impotent and useless...A prayer for all the victims and the populations involved in this disaster

Appello dei Centri di servizio per il volontariato (Csv) di Pescara a tutti i volontari di Pescara e provincia, a contribuire nei limiti delle loro possibilità ad aiutare le popolazioni colpite dal terremoto. Le associazioni di volontariato o i singoli volontari interessati a mettersi a disposizione per l'emergenza terremoto che ha colpito l'Abruzzo possono contattare il Centro operativo della Protezione Civile presso la Prefettura di Pescara, telefonando allo 085 2057631.
Chiunque fosse invece interessato a donare sangue, può farlo recandosi presso i Centri Trasfusionali indicati dalla Regione.
Sulle donazioni di sangue c'e' pero' un appello a rallentare l'afflusso del ministro per il Welfare Maurizio Sacconi.
"C'é al momento l'esigenza di rallentare l'afflusso dei donatori di sangue resisi disponibili dopo il terremoto della scorsa notte in Abruzzo - ha detto il ministro, sottolineando come la risposta in favore della donazione di sangue sia attualmente superiore alle esigenze in loco. "Il bisogno specifico - ha aggiunto - è ampiamente coperto, tanto che c'é l'esigenza di rallentare l'afflusso dei donatori per evitare situazione di intasamento, soprattutto nelle strutture abruzzesi" La risposta all'appello per la donazione di sangue, ha detto Sacconi, "é stata molto generosa ed ora è necessario un rallentamento dal momento che in queste ore si è verificata un'altissima concentrazione di donatori".
Chiunque voglia donare del cibo per le popolazioni colpite, infine, può portare i generi di prima necessità presso il Banco Alimentare dell'Abruzzo, in via Celestino V: il Banco Alimentare, mediante la sua rete di enti e associazioni convenzionati nell'Aquilano, ha già iniziato ad inviare i prodotti nelle zone colpite dal terremoto.
From the first shoot, in March 2018. Post work was around there, I thought it was posted ages ago, but . . . . .
Dramatic Daybreak:
The shot was taken in July 2007 at Frinton-on-Sea, Essex, at just after half five in the morning (ouch!). I had arrived the night before and hadn’t had time to check the tide times so I was initially disappointed to see the tide right in when I got to the beach. I decided to set up my tripod on the sea front steps at water level to see what I could get. The sun was already up so I had missed the actual sunrise itself (making a mental note to set the alarm that little bit earlier!). I put a polarising filter on the lens to saturate the blue sky which was just visible through the nicely contrasting white clouds. I then added a 0.8 ND Grad filter to balance the contrast between the sky and sea. The sun was just catching the clouds at the back so I had to be careful not to blow out the highlights. I tried to time the waves so they were just on the way in to get some movement in the water, between getting a shoe full of water each time!
This image is about half way through a series taken over about an hour and a half. I finished the shoot at about half six, a little colder, a little damper but back in the warm in time for coffee and toast and satisfied that I had managed to get something worthwhile from what started off looking like I could have drawn a blank.
Processing: I opened the RAW file in Photoshop and processed once for the highlights of the sun on the clouds and once for the main image and then merged them together. I dodged & burned the clouds slightly to accentuate the differences in contrast and tightened the histogram. There is minimal sharpening to give a bit of definition.
