Something in Cardi's new album cover pulled me in, and I was transfixed. I wanted to be that beautiful, that posed, and that confident. And it occurred to me that the enchantment from this rapping vixen is nothing but...pure unadulterated confidence exuding through the pages and pulling you in.
I immediately had to channel her, and I can feel her energy whenever I sit for this pose.
Vixen? mayybeeeee
A vamp? Only when I dress like it. *winks*
Dramatic? ehhhh

Dramatic, late spring clouds over the beautiful, aqua colored water of Lake Tahoe. It was last year that I visited the eastern side of the lake for sunset images looking towards the mountains of California, and I am very much looking forward to going back for some respite from the Sacramento valley heat!

Dramatic Daybreak:
The shot was taken in July 2007 at Frinton-on-Sea, Essex, at just after half five in the morning (ouch!). I had arrived the night before and hadn’t had time to check the tide times so I was initially disappointed to see the tide right in when I got to the beach. I decided to set up my tripod on the sea front steps at water level to see what I could get. The sun was already up so I had missed the actual sunrise itself (making a mental note to set the alarm that little bit earlier!). I put a polarising filter on the lens to saturate the blue sky which was just visible through the nicely contrasting white clouds. I then added a 0.8 ND Grad filter to balance the contrast between the sky and sea. The sun was just catching the clouds at the back so I had to be careful not to blow out the highlights. I tried to time the waves so they were just on the way in to get some movement in the water, between getting a shoe full of water each time!
This image is about half way through a series taken over about an hour and a half. I finished the shoot at about half six, a little colder, a little damper but back in the warm in time for coffee and toast and satisfied that I had managed to get something worthwhile from what started off looking like I could have drawn a blank.
Processing: I opened the RAW file in Photoshop and processed once for the highlights of the sun on the clouds and once for the main image and then merged them together. I dodged & burned the clouds slightly to accentuate the differences in contrast and tightened the histogram. There is minimal sharpening to give a bit of definition.
Image details: Taken in RAW. Canon EOS 30D, 0.6 seconds shutter speed, Manual Setting, f/18, ISO 100, 17mm Focal length on a EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM Canon lens.
Thought I'd have a go at reprocessing this through PhaseOne four years after I'd taken it. I'm amazed at the difference of file between the EOS 30D then and my 5D Mk II now. The 5D Mk II is such a superior camera. Having said that I still like this image.
Very nearly a dramatic sunset at Staithes last night.I think anybody at Saltburn or South Gare would have hit the jackpot and captured a very red sky.

Twin locomotives, ILSX 1389 & 1390, hold down the track adjacent to Evan's Scrap & Steel along the Minnesota Northern. A rain storm finally moved out in dramatic fashion creating quite the backdrop to the east.
Tomorrow the train will move out from the Thief River Falls area back home to Crookston via the CP and BNSF.
It's so dramatic it can't be real...right? It's my special dramatic filter on the camera that makes it look like this....right? Sure.

Luckily I finally got this image together. I did several panos at high magnification forgetting that such panos need extreme overlaps. This one is a fairly detailed 201 megapixels. This picture works so well because it is very balanced, in terms of the mountains each side and the light.
