A Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus) looks downslope toward the Logan Pass visitor center to keep tabs on the hordes of tourists ascending the trail toward Hidden Lake.
When I first visited Logan Pass over 20 years ago, it was at the tail end of a 5 day backpacking trip, and I recall seeing goats at the Pass that were relatively unafraid of humans compared to the ones we'd seen through binoculars up a cliff face over the previous days. After visiting again this year, I can report that the population of Goats at Logan has changed very little in terms of their tolerance to human visitors - this one strolled about eating, mostly oblivious to the hooting of my son, and the pointing of the other Homo turisticos. I asked one of the volunteer rangers what might explain this (odd) behavior, and he indicated there's some evidence that the Goats like the salt deposited by the human visitors. I leave it up to you to determine for yourself the most likely form in which that human-derived salt is deposited ;-)
The TSS Earnslaw is a 1912 Edwardian vintage twin screw steamer plying the waters of Lake Wakatipu in New Zealand. It is one of the oldest tourist attractions in Central Otago, and the only remaining commercial passenger-carrying coal-fired steamship in the southern hemisphere

Apparently this is where I belong. it seems the domain of the little woman at home is the kitchen. I have been told that is why us girls have small feet! so as we can get closer to the kitchen sink!
Funny I thought we had small feet so as our partners couldn't wear our shoes!!!

De belles rencontres près du marais... Suite...
Toujours dans le cadre de ces belles rencontres dans le milieu ouvert près du marais au Domaine Saint-Paul, voici un autre Tyran huppé capté la veille du juvénile que je vous ai présenté récemment. Je ne puis dire si il s'agit d'un adulte ou d'un autre juvénile ou encore du même spécimen. Sa huppe présentait un plumage plus développé et les commissures, partie faisant le joint entre les deux mandibules, étaient moins apparentes... J'y suis retourné hier après-midi, c'était pratiquement le calme plat en comparaison à mes dernières visites de la semaine précédente mis à part les résidents habituels, Bruants chanteurs, Parulines jaune, et au loin, Cormorans à aigrettes, Grands hérons et Grèbes à bec bigarré...
On the bank of the Meuse, a curious wasteland surrounded by an embankment that I think was an abandoned settling pond.
The overgrown vegetation and the winter light gave it an a threatening appearance.
Sur la berge de la Meuse, un curieux terrain vague entouré d'un talus que je pense être un bassin de décantation abandonné (il y a des carrières à proximité).
La végétation envahissante et la lumière hivernale lui donnaient un aspect inquiétant.

Just for fun.....I haven't done a collage in a long time, and this juvenile hummer was doing everything in his (of course it's a 'he':) power to keep his nest-mate from getting to the flowers and the feeder. He was 'begging' me to show you his strategy:).....

Nhà thờ Domain De Marie nằm trong khu Lam Sơn, được xây dựng từ năm 1940 đến năm 1944 do phu nhân toàn quyền Jean Decoux đứng ra quyên góp của nhiều giáo dân. Tên gọi Domain De Marie có nghĩa là "lãnh địa của Đức Bà". Nhà thờ được xây dựng lại theo lối kiến trúc độc đáo hơn bất cứ nhà thờ nào khác ở Đà Lạt bởi được xây dựng bằng một chất kết dính là vôi, mật mía, và một số vật phụ gia khác.
Khi xây dựng nhà thờ, vị phu nhân toàn quyền Đông Dương có tâm nguyện là lúc mất người sẽ được chôn ở đây. Vào năm 1944, trên đường đi hoà giải mâu thuẩn giữa Bà Nam Phương Hoàng hậu và Bà Mộng Điệp, bà đã bị giao thông trên đoạn đường Khe Sanh và mất mộ tháng sau đó. Thi hài Bà đã được chôn cất tại hành lang sau nhà thờ, trong khuôn viên của một vườn hoa thoáng mát và rộng lớn, như yêu cầu của Bà lúc còn sống.
Tuy nhà thờ không có tháp chuông trên đỉnh nhưng tiền đình được thiết kế là một tam giác can, phía trước được trang điểm các vòm cửa nhỏ. Tường được xây dựng bằng đá chẻ đến ngang bệ cửa sổ theo lối kiến trúc Normandie. Không gian nội thất được chiếu sáng bởi những khung kính màu, càng làm tăng thêm phần lung linh hấp dẫn cho thánh đường. Nhà thờ còn lưu trữ pho tượng Đức Me ban ơn cao 3m, nặng 1 tấn là quà tặng của phu nhân toàn quyền Đông Dương Decoux. Bức tượng được đặt giữa cung thánh trên nhà thờ. Tượng do nhà điêu khắc Johchère, người Pháp làm tại Hà Nội và đưa về nay năm 1944.
Vào khuôn viên nhà thờ bạn có thể thấy rất nhiều loại hoa, đặc biệt là hoa Hải Tiên. Sau nhà thờ là một quần thể kiến trúc được thiết kế theo kiểu mới với 3 dãy nhà tầng của dòng Nữ Tu Bác Ái, càng làm tăng thêm vẽ uy nghi và trang nghiêm cho nhà thờ. Vì chỉ dùng duy nhất một màu vôi hồng đậm để quét tường, nên dưới ánh nắng nhà thờ như sáng rực hẳn lên.
Nhà thờ Domain de Marie chỉ có tu nữ, họ sống và làm việc ở đây như đan áo lạnh, bán cho du khách vào tham quan nơi đây.

I see this Hawk often in my area to my delight. I don’t bother him as I envy his independence and his grace. When he moves he does so with a command of his airspace. He’s a natural in flight as he spreads his wings and ever so gracefully flys, circles and glides through the air in search of his next meal perhaps. I respect the Hawk sitting still on his perch or in flight. He claims “His Domain” in either place. Thanks for viewing my work. Let’s wash our 🙏’s. ☮️
