Dans le jardin du Domaine, imaginé par Le Nôtre, les feux d'artifice contemporains - dont l'édition 2014 est la sixième - font revivre au XXIème siècle le "superbe théâtre de cristal jaillissant" qui se présentait au Duc d'Orléans.
Pendant près de deux heures, le ciel s'illumine de mille feux qui dévoilent de nombreux tableaux dans le ciel francilien. Sur des musiques soigneusement sélectionnées, mélange de classiques et de célèbres bandes originales de films, une trentaine de « tableaux » se succèdent.

Suite à la récente acquisition par la mairie de Mazères de la zone "Grévillou" d'une superficie d'un hectare au Domaine des Oiseaux, monsieur le Maire de Mazères et ses élus nous ont confié l'étude d'aménagement sur l'ensemble su site.
Nous sommes heureux de vous présenter ci dessous la première étude technique complète de 28 pages concernant la phase A. Celle-ci sera majoritairement dédiée aux insectes et aux plantes sauvages de notre région.
Nous organiserons fin d'année 2024 une réunion réservés aux membres de l'association Les Amis du Domaine des Oiseaux, intéressés sur la phase B, et éventuellement phase C du projet selon l'avancement et de nos dispositions.

The Little Street (Het Straatje) is a painting by the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer, executed c. 1657-1658. It is exhibited at the Rijksmuseum of Amsterdam, and signed, below the window in the lower left-hand corner, "I V MEER".
The Little Street by Jan Vermeer depicts a small fragment of Delft, his hometown and place of residence. The small painting (54.3x44 cm) is a significant piece in Vermeer’s body of work. Besides the famous View on Delft (ca. 1660-1661), The Little Street is the only other recognized townscape created by Vermeer. Although there are records of another townscape painted by Vermeer, it remains unknown and lost. Just like Vermeer’s famous interiors, The Little Street embodies qualities of intimacy and domesticity. The artist shows the beauty found in the mundane, the figures of women and children going about their daily activities. The women diligently cleaning and doing needlework in front of the simple households represent the ideal of domestic virtue. The vine growing on the building on the left also relates to domesticity, as it was considered a symbol of love, fidelity and marriage since ancient times.

Ich habe mich entschieden, die Fotos, die in Chernobyl entstanden sind, der Allgemeinheit ohne jegliche Lizenzansprüche frei zur Verfügung zu stellen. Grund für diese Entscheidung ist, dass die Fotos die Gefahren der Atomenergie bildlich und eindrücklich darstellen, gerade wenn man bedenkt, dass seit dem Supergau schon 30 Jahre vergangen sind. Ich hoffe die Fotos geben dem einen oder anderen einen Denkanstoss seinen persönlichen Energiehaushalt zu reflektieren und zu überdenken. Die Strahlung die in Tschernobyl freigesetzt wurde ist Heutzutage, nachweislich auf der ganzen Welt verteilt. Die Problematik der weltweit eingesetzten Atomenergie betrifft uns somit alle.
First post after a short break, so I thought I'd share something special. This is such a gorgeous daguerreotype, but the really exciting bit is what was found behind the image. As will be seen in the comments below, there was a tiny pressed rose, a lock of hair, and two poems. The debate (and research) is still ongoing as to whether they are death poems, and who Rosa might be; indeed whether she is even the girl in the photograph.

Estimated date ca 1850 based on the image frame and overall feel, but needs an expert eye on the clothing I think.
