So sorry I have missed the past two weeks. Been super busy at work and life. But we're back now!! Hope you all are having a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
The dogs smiling back at me on top of the hills, on a lovely warm spring day. Even Dilly looks happy here... which is an achievement because she usually doesn't like the camera and puts on her "I am very superior" look whenever I try to take her picture ;-) After I took this the dogs came over and quietly sat with me for a bit, just enjoying being out with the "pack". Even Barney was calm, forgetting about chasing tennis balls at least for a few minutes.
Recently he has started to roll over and relax on his back, when we sit together on the side of the hills... Seeing this always makes me happy as he used to be such a nervous dog and at one point would never have felt relaxed enough to act so vulnerably outside. People passing by often smile to see the big dog sprawled against my leg, tail wagging slowly, grinning as I tickle his tummy and little Dilly curled up on my other side! :)
Thanks so much for getting my last photo of Barney to front page of Explore! I was really pleased, as it is one of my faves of him, so thank you for all the lovely comments and faves, I'm glad others like it too :) Thanks also to my contacts for the support during my exams... my test of Friday seemed to go pretty well, only 2 more to go now, this time next week I'll be all done! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend...

It's that time of year when the bracken begins to rampage across the wee less travelled tracks that I usually frequent
Prompt: Create a single high-quality digital fine art 3D illustration. Depict one middle-aged woman (approx. 45–55), natural and realistic appearance, walking six dogs on leashes through a beautiful, sunlit park. Three dogs are West Highland White Terriers with bright white coats, compact builds, and alert expressions; the other three dogs have salt-and-pepper coats with clearly mixed gray, black, and white fur, similar size and energy. The woman confidently holds all leashes in a natural, balanced way while walking forward. The park is lush and vibrant with green grass, tall trees, soft shadows, and warm golden sunlight suggesting a pleasant sunny day. Add birds gently flying in the background and butterflies near the foreground for a peaceful, joyful atmosphere. Use a refined, cinematic fine-art 3D illustration style with realistic textures, detailed fur, natural lighting, and accurate shadows. Composition should be vertical, full-body framing, slightly low eye-level angle. Output in ultra-sharp 4K resolution, vertical aspect ratio, clean edges, no artifacts, no watermarks, no text, no logos, and no visual distortions.
This digital fine art was created using OpenAI Sora AI and Photoshop
this week for 52 weeks for dogs, we had the theme of "catch." i have been wanting to get a picture of alice's ball-catching face, so i thought this was a good week to do it. she may not be actually catching in this shot, but a split second later, she was. :)
in case you were wondering, the orange blob at the bottom center of the photo is the incoming ball.
My first post in 52 weeks for dogs (thanks Anda!) I have five Border Collies and it was very tough deciding on who to pick for my victim, errr model ;-) I chose Stella, as she is the oddest of the bunch, with her striking colors and all....Stella is a 3 year old Border Collie (yes she is ;-) ) and we compete in sheepdog trials in and around Texas. Looking forward to the next 51 weeks!

My girl is back! The vet put her on antibiotic and steroid and she bounced back within two days. She is eating, drinking and playful again. She has regained her balance and can now close her mouth.
I hope we can put this in the past!
Jazz is ready to pass the next year onto Boomer. He wants to spend less time being photographed and more time on the important things; like herding Boomer, home renovations, stealing food, his bone collection, naps by the fire. All those skills he is still developing. A year ago at this time I still hadn't bonded with this boy and it took several more months before that happened. I really could have easily returned him to the rescue he came from. I sometimes wonder if Boomer doesn't think the same thing.
Happy New Year to all our flickr friends in 52 weeks for dogs.
I was looking through some old files and came across this unpublished picture of Gru. So cute! Now that couch, on the other hand... :-/
i took the dogs to downtown Cambridge today to get their 52 weeks and 12 months photos. the city has had a difficult past, but recently is being revitalized and refreshed, with new shops and restaurants, and several murals depicting life on the eastern shore of Maryland. it was nice to go somewhere different for this week. we will have to do it again!

Tiffany had a visit to the groomers today, which she hates, but she does look lovely and seems pleased to be without all that hair !
The others were a bit concerned when I returned without her having dropped her off at the beauty parlour.

My Cousin Duke, the shepherd/malamute husky mix, is now back home with his Mom and Dad.
We had hoped to keep him a bit longer but the heat and humidity are tough on the old boy, and though we got in one last walk this morning, temps are hitting 40C with the humidex today, and only slightly cooler over the weekend.
So we thought a collage of our few days together would be a nice way to send him off, which was what we did earlier this year when he visited for a few days. All of these are from or near the Prescott-Russell Trail in Ottawa, ON.
The photo from this morning sees me showing Duke all I know about tractors. He was not impressed, as my lesson consisted entirely of where you can pee on it.
But still, I think I'm slowly gaining his confidence, and though we don't really play together, and probably never will because Duke is not a touchy-feely kind of dog except with humans that he likes, we can at least share space without the tension of the past, and he certainly doesn't mind me alongside him when we're on our walks.
And that's good enough for me.
Here's the collage from May 19:

(No Saturday Morning Post for 7-23-16, as we've tried your patience enough this week with all the holiday photos. Thanks for the attention to Duke. We love him.)
