From the archives------ I love how the dogwood trees leaves turn a beautiful red color in late autumn---HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING A GREAT DAY---THANKS FOR VISITING---CATCH UP WITH YOU A LITTLE LATER TODAY!
It's that time of year when the bracken begins to rampage across the wee less travelled tracks that I usually frequent
These two take every opportunity to pose for the camera that they can get.I set up to shoot flowers with a Lensbaby velvet 56 and they would not get out of the way!
Fantasy image of a female warrior with her battle dog. Digital creation made with Midjourney and Camera Raw.
The dogs smiling back at me on top of the hills, on a lovely warm spring day. Even Dilly looks happy here... which is an achievement because she usually doesn't like the camera and puts on her "I am very superior" look whenever I try to take her picture ;-) After I took this the dogs came over and quietly sat with me for a bit, just enjoying being out with the "pack". Even Barney was calm, forgetting about chasing tennis balls at least for a few minutes.
Recently he has started to roll over and relax on his back, when we sit together on the side of the hills... Seeing this always makes me happy as he used to be such a nervous dog and at one point would never have felt relaxed enough to act so vulnerably outside. People passing by often smile to see the big dog sprawled against my leg, tail wagging slowly, grinning as I tickle his tummy and little Dilly curled up on my other side! :)
Thanks so much for getting my last photo of Barney to front page of Explore! I was really pleased, as it is one of my faves of him, so thank you for all the lovely comments and faves, I'm glad others like it too :) Thanks also to my contacts for the support during my exams... my test of Friday seemed to go pretty well, only 2 more to go now, this time next week I'll be all done! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend...

We had a little visitor this past week. My son, his wife and their 21 month old son stayed with us. They live in Washington, DC and their daycare closes for a week in the summer. We all took vacation days and had a lovely visit.
Della hasn't ever spent much time around a kid that age. Kids that age run, walk and move very differently than big kids. She was so good with my grandson. He was very interested in Della but a little apprehensive at first. I did get a few photos of them together but it was this one I liked best.
Rafa is just learning to talk and he was saying Della by the time they left. He would constantly point to her, say her name and then wave at her. It was the only thing I could understand. My daughter in law is from Brazil and they speak Portuguese to him. His daycare is Spanish speaking and we speak English to him. He seems to understand each language but the words he is using at this point are Portuguese.
I thought his little hand coming out and pointing at Della was a good representation of their visit.
I put a photo of Rafa and Della in the first comment box.
My girl is back! The vet put her on antibiotic and steroid and she bounced back within two days. She is eating, drinking and playful again. She has regained her balance and can now close her mouth.
I hope we can put this in the past!

Early this morning it was decided to
"not" go over to the mud cobra field.
Why you ask ?
This is why ---
Raining before mid-night.
Raining after mid-night and
it was still raining at 5:AM ;-0
This decision could be changed at any time.
But, it would seem that would be highly unlikely.
So to supplement our thirst for racing around in the
wet muddy environment a recent photo will suffice.
Speaking of a photo lets have a chat about this one.
On the 11th when we made our way out to the
monkey temple to give Mickey, Blondie and
Ms Molly their injections we were under
constant threat of being drowned by
many off an on monsoons down-
pours. As you might recall 15
minutes before this photo
both of the dogs were
experiencing that 2.
Photo is posted in
the comments.
OK, before we get to far off-track this
photo is when we arrived on the other
side in-between said down-pours and
are preparing to give them injections.
One thing you can't see here is the
mosquitoes are hatching all around
us by the gazillions x a bazillion + +.
Insane, can't have you mouth open
or the bugs will fill your mouth ;-0-
Anyway we did our job, played
and cared for the dogs then
headed on back home ;-)
Thank You.

Many years ago (65+) I used to say good night to all the ceramic animals on a shadow box on the wall, and these two dogs were one.

My first post in 52 weeks for dogs (thanks Anda!) I have five Border Collies and it was very tough deciding on who to pick for my victim, errr model ;-) I chose Stella, as she is the oddest of the bunch, with her striking colors and all....Stella is a 3 year old Border Collie (yes she is ;-) ) and we compete in sheepdog trials in and around Texas. Looking forward to the next 51 weeks!
