The eggheads are Arneson's sculptures on the UC Davis campus. I had my lab mates pose for the appropriate head. Then finalized the photo in lensFX App and DistressedFX App.

After the dSLR batteries were almost drained, I shot a whole bunch of images with the iPhone.

Captured and processed with: HDR Photo Camera, Pro HDR, Snapseed, DistressedFX, Marksta and Camera+.

Original image taken in 2023 with bluristic app on iPhone. Textured with DistressedFX sweet gum soft 70% and Rupi overlay 70%. In Snapseed added lens blur 30, vintage 9 and Frame 22.

As always, a photo each day for 365 days. All shot and edited using Apps on my iPhone 5.

The photo was taken using the camera App Blux Camera Pro for iPhone. The original image can be found below.

First of all I used the app PhotoToaster to straighten the photo and crop the image into a square. I then also used the same app to apply the Oil Paint preset but deleted the thick border that comes with the preset. Next I used an app called Photo Copier to apply a reproduction of the tone, texture, grain and detail of the artist Raphael's painting called - Madonna and Child with Book. Finally I used Distressed FX to add extra texture to the image using the Wilde overlay and the Vanilla Texture.

The original photo was taken during my lunch break in the War Memorial Park in Coventry. The image is of the War Memorial Monument. The Memorial was built between 1924 and 1927 after the money to pay for it was raised from a public appeal. The Monument which stands at about 90 Feet high (see the two people standing at the base of the structure), was dedicated by Field Marshal Earl Haig on 8 October 1927. The Monument originally served as a Memorial to the 2,587 Coventrians who died fighting in the First World War between 1914 and 1918. It now stands as a tribute to all the Soldiers from Coventry that have died in armed conflict since the First World War. After a multi-million pound project to improve the park over the last couple of years the Monument was given a new Listed status of Grade II* also the Entrance Gates and Piers were granted a Grade II listing.

The Memorial is classed as Grade II* listed. It is number 20 on my list of 24 (Grade II*) Listed buildings in Coventry that I hope to photograph.

The leaves are a pain in the butt, yet it makes a pretty picture.

BEHIND THE SCENES:

Still wearing my kufi to represent religious undertones my plan was to make this one super creepy and unsettling. Starting out facing the camera all I did was slowly turn to face the light. Slow Shutter Cam captured the creepiness for me. I love the effects I can get by using a simple app, blows Photoshop out of the arena!

What I see when I look at this one is simply a feeling. For me it's torment and uncertainty. It's as if there's an internal struggle going on whether it's religious beliefs, racial discrimination, societal expectations, or whatever. Something just feels broken and not quite of stable mind. Which I guess we might all feel from time to time! I for one hate making decisions and often find myself in a perpetual state of uncertainty.

SET-UP / PROCESS:

I used one continuous soft light, a black back-drop, and stood a large suitcase on its end to prop my iPhone in the handle bracket. Kneeling down, I used a timer (Slow Shutter Cam) to give myself 5-seconds to get into position, dragging the shutter for 8-seconds.

In post processing I used one of the filters in DistressedFX and then the Glaze App to soften and blur the edges. Once again, took me no time to edit this on my iPhone.

Flickr Lounge - Weekly Theme (Week 19) ~ Textures ....

To get this texture I had to download this to my iPhone then add the textures via an App called DistressedFX and then upload back to my MacBook!! Loads of different textures within this App. By downloading and uploading and then uploading to Flickr I lose my EXIF detail?!

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... thanks to you all.

38/365 - haven't had much time for pics lately. This is a simple one with some tweaks in KitCam and adding some birds from Distressedfx.
