The original photo is the background, turned 90 degrees to create the horizon. I used Distressed FX+ to add the birds and trees.

For 52 Weeks of Pix, "Sad"

"Getting lost-there was a time in my life where getting lost would have struck fear in my heart and sent me into a panic. I am not the spontaneous, adventurous, adrenaline seeking type of person. I am a map reader, a planner, an organizer, and a routine kind of girl. I love calendars and lists. I hate surprises. Hate them. I hate them to the point of not really enjoying opening presents on birthdays and Christmas. I like predictability. So, the other day, when my GPS took me a different way home from a store than I am used to, I was surprised when I decided to go with it. Instead of driving Interstate 83, the Maps App on my iPhone suggested the country route, along roads I had never driven. It said I could save about 2 minutes, so I thought, "Why not?"

As always, a photo each day for 365 days. All shot and edited using Apps on my iPhone 5.

The photo was taken using the camera App PureShot for iPhone and saved as a TIFF file in Square format before any editing. The original image can be found below.

Just two Apps used today to edit the image. First of all I used an App called Tadaa to edit the image. The edits were made by sharpening the image a little. I then boosted the Ambiance, Contrast and Saturation. I then applied a filter/frame called Vinage2. Finally I used the App Distressed FX to add extra texture to the image using the Birds Soulmate overlay and the Lazarus Texture.

The original photo was taken this afternoon of a tree in Baginton, Warwickshire. However this is not any Old tree. It is said that this Oak Tree is over 500 years old. It is one of the oldest living trees in the whole of Warwickshire. It is also the symbol of the village of Baginton.

What's in yours?

I was going to call this image, "Art Imitates Life", but then after a bit of research, I discovered that there are two schools of thought on this matter. There are those who believe that art imitates life (mimesis) and those who believe that life imitates art (anti-mimesis). Sort of one of those which came first, the chicken or the egg scenarios.

Anyway, this image came about because I still had these characters from Melbourne popping up on my camera roll and I had to do something with them. So, I had the idea that if they kept popping up, I could change them into pop-ups and place them with Noah's collection of other pop-ups. I probably should have stopped there but, oh well. So, what do you think, do you barrack for mimesis or are you an anti-mimesis fan? Something to ponder on this surreal Sunday night. Happy week ahead Flickr buddies :-)

Today's image was taken this afternoon in the City Centre of Coventry. This is another view of Fords Hospital. This Grade I Listed building was built at the beginning of the 16th century. It was used as an Almshouse for some of the poor Men and Women of Coventry. After it was enlarged and modernised in the early 19th Century it became an Almshouse for Women only. Even though it it was nearly destroyed in the blitz on Coventry during the Second World War it was carefully restored and is still in use to this day.

The photo was taken using the app Cortex Camera on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the image. I cropped and straightened the photo, then I added the Tonal Contrast filter. I then boosted the saturation, ambiance and warmth. Next I used the app Painteresque to add the Painteresque 2 preset. I also used DistressedFX to add the Stirred overlay and the Lade texture. Finally I used the app PhotoToaster to add the Recover Highlights preset, the Drama FX, a medium dark vignette and the Old Paper texture. I then added the Antique frame.
