Algonquin Park's Lake of Two Rivers on a snowy winter morning is quiet - there's very little traffic on the nearby road, no bird calls, and no people! It's not that I have an aversion to these things - it's just that there are no distractions - at least not until the cold begins to seep in and you have to get moving again.

My photography is a necessary distraction for myself. Photography does not serve me any real purpose but something to do with my time. Throughout my photography, I've managed to create many meaningful relationships with the multiple individuals. I've encountered over the years. When I started photography, I was lonely. I had no friends. Due to my wild imagination, my crave for adventure, and being able to share amazing stories with other individuals were some of the driving force in my motivation to keep creating. Sometimes, I ask myself why create images? I honestly do not know. My friend told me if something provides me with a purpose then it is something worth pursuing.
Between my current work distractions, and backlog of photos from the archive I want to share, it seems nothing I’ve posted of late has been current. Well this weekend I was back in Houston and was able to visit one of the spots I had scoped out over the holidays. While the atmosphere wasn’t as clear as I normally like, I was able to get a couple shots – including this 4-photo panoramic – that turned out worthwhile.

Per Cornell's Birds of the World: "Injury-Feigning Display [often with wings spread more as well] -- to lead predators away from a nest." While we WERE on the roadway, I assume there was a nest nearby.

I found this sculpture spanning a river in Lincoln and found an angle with no distraction and also the sun lined up perfectly behind.
The mass invasion of smartphones into our daily life is something I have mixed feelings about sometimes. On one hand, it has made our lives easier with GPS map finding and mobile photography. On the flip side, the social interaction betwen one person and another has become somewhat distant with everyone seemingingly obessed with looking down on their own phones. Maybe this is the future beholding us...
I did enjoy this bit of playing. Just a great bit of distraction. Just half an hour messing around 😁.
some cynical people think newspapers, television, sports, gambling, even the internet, offer little more than distraction from our mundane lives and that those in charge of things ie big business operators use these distractions to divert our attention from thier own greed, corruption and self serving manipulation of the masses.

I was just whipping up a quick dish of escargots à la Bourguignonne last night when I glanced out the kitchen window (obviously facing west) and saw this developing over the horizon. Grabbing the camera (as you can probably tell), I stepped out on the porch and was able to get a few shots before it vanished. I don't think I've ever seen a sunset in which every cloud was completely red, nor one that disappeared so quickly....allowing me to return to my meal which was probably a tad too garlicky...
Sorry about deleting the initial post but even though I liked the scene it was somewhat lame!!! This is what I was focused on when the little momma surfaced next to the canoe! This is the best I could do on a dismally gray morning!! Photo taken on Horsepen Bayou in alligator alley of one of our year-round Greenie residents!!
