The huge complex has its roots in the early 18th century in southeastern Indiana. Bordering Lawrenceburg and Greendale, the distillery is owned by MGP Ingredients and the facility is named the Ross & Squibb Distillery. At its height the distillery had over 2500 workers. Whiskey fungus, caused by the release of ethanol fumes into the atmosphere, coats many nearby houses and vehicles and covers them with an ugly black mold. Fumes impact the upriver Cincinnati, Ohio.
Next to Carbost Burn on the shores of Loch Harport, Talisker distillery has its single malt scotch factory, the oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye. The factory has a beautiful shop selling scotch and related souvenirs, and tours of the distillery are available. Isle of Skye, Scotland.

Glengoyne Distillery is a whisky distillery continuously in operation since its founding in 1833 at Dumgoyne, north of Glasgow, Scotland. Glengoyne is unique in producing Highland single malt whisky matured in the Lowlands.
The distillery is situated near Dumgoyne, a hill prominent on the edge of the Campsie Fells and is a well known landmark visible from Glasgow. It is a volcanic plug and is 427 m high (1,402 feet).
It wouldn’t be a week away without popping to at least one distillery.
Glenmorangie is a distillery in Tain, Ross-shire, Scotland, that produces single malt Scotch whisky. The distillery is owned by The Glenmorangie Company Ltd whose main product is the range of Glenmorangie single malt whisky. Glenmorangie is categorised as a Highland distillery and boasts the tallest stills in Scotland. It is available in Original, 18-, and 25-year-old bottlings, special cask bottlings, cask finishes, extra matured bottlings, and a range of special edition bottlings. We bought a bottle of their Quinta Ruban Port cask Finish and have already enjoyed a wee dram or two!
I've often heard the train going when in Toronto's Distillery District, this time I was on the Via Rail train and on the rail side looking at the historic neighbourhood.

Established circa 1889, this is the oldest standing retail package whisky store in America. It has been on the National Register of Historic Places since December 1974, according to a placque on the store.
This building was part of Burkes whisky distillery, which was established here around the beginning of the 19th Century. The Samuels family took over the Burkes distillery to make the Maker's Mark distillery in the mid twentieth century.
I found this at the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort, KY. Couldn't pass up the lighting and the textures.

I took my cousins to visit the historical Distillery District. It had been very hot for a week and finally the tropical heat and humidity produced a sudden but brief thunder storm. We were aware of the weather forecast so we all had umbrellas for the rain.
