Amongst a batch of old family photographs once belonging to my wife’s grandfather is this portrait of three Durham coal miners. The one on the left my wife and I think is my wife’s Grandfather Tommy Wake, born on the 14th February 1890 and who died just a couple of days before his 100th birthday. Tommy looks to be in his mid teens thus dating the picture to circa 1906.

Blair Athol distillery is a single malt whisky distillery in Scotland dating back to 1798.
It is used in Bell's whisky, and is also normally available in a 12-year-old bottling. The distillery is located in Pitlochry in Perthshire, near the River Tummel.
Whisky Galore! That was the name of a fabulous British comedy from 1949, based on a true story from WW2 and set in the Scottish Hebrides. But it is also true of contemporary Tasmania. In the past we may have had our convicts, but today we have plenty of small distilleries making everything from whisky to gin. Just like "the good old days", only this time it's not bootleg.
The Old Kempton Distillery is a must stop place on the highway between Launceston and Hobart. You can take a tour of the grand Dysart House, and sample some of Tasmania's finest.
I walked around the backside of this distillery for a better shot. I kept walking closer and closer because there was not a fence. I was waiting for something to go off so stopped and made this image before my retreat.

The Distillery District is a historic and entertainment precinct located east of Downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It contains numerous cafés, restaurants, and shops housed within heritage buildings of the former Gooderham and Worts Distillery. The 13 acres (53,000 m2) district comprises more than 40 heritage buildings and 10 streets, and is the largest collection of Victorian-era industrial architecture in North America.
The district was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1988
47674 'Women's Royal Voluntary Service' (in which, incidentally, my late mother served for many years) heads the 1440 Edinburgh-Inverness past the distillery at Dalwhinnie on 12th September 1992.

Looking up from the bottom of the round building of the abandoned distillery in Ferrara (Italy). It reminds me of a particle collider like the one at CERN.

Old Overholt is a long produced American rye whiskey distilled by A. Overholt & Co, currently a subsidiary of Beam Inc., at the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. Old Overholt was originally distilled in Broad Ford, PA. The whiskey got its start in West Overton near Scottdale. The plant closed in 1958 and the brand moved to its current location.
Next to Carbost Burn on the shores of Loch Harport, Talisker distillery has its single malt scotch factory, the oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye. The factory has a beautiful shop selling scotch and related souvenirs, and tours of the distillery are available. Isle of Skye, Scotland.

Talisker distillery is an Island single malt Scotch whisky distillery based in Carbost, Scotland—the only distillery on the Isle of Skye.
The distillery was founded in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill, and built in 1831 at Carbost after a number of false starts on other sites when they acquired the lease of Talisker House from the MacLeod of MacLeod. The distillery was rebuilt 1880–87 and extended in 1900
Unfortunately, it was closed when I arrived here so didn't manage a taster of one of my favourite Malts

The new Dalmunach distillery was built on the site of the disused Imperial Distillery at Carron, becoming the fifteenth Scotch whisky distillery operated by Chivas Brothers. It is named after a nearby pool in the River Spey on whose banks it sits. It is one of more than 20 other distilleries in a five-mile radius, situated in the famous Spey valley.
