It includes the subset Disney Villains Designer Collection, with Limited Editon 12'' Dolls and various other merchandise. This folder concentrates on the Classic Villains - the villains as they were originally depicted their Disney animated movies. So they consist of these four female villains:

Evil Queen - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)

Maleficent - Sleeping Beauty (1959)

Cruella de Vil - One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1956)

Ursula - The Little Mermaid (1989)

This pewter candelabra is the centerpiece that pulls all the other components of this holiday table together, shown here with the St. Giles linen table runner and Viviana Dinnerware.

[F093634a] This serving platter is part of a complete custom dinnerware service for 20 that Vicki has been working on for the past months. The commission served as the registry for a young couple that was married on August 29, 2009.

This 15-1/2 inch diameter round platter has Tenmoku glaze on porcelain, with a Rutile decoration. The finish is dark and rich and difficult to photograph.

Photography was with two table-top side lights. It is difficult to see the depth and control glare with that simple setup, as much as we love this result. It was the experience with deeper bowls that had us seek assistance and look to better lighting arrangements.

And some Hazel Atlas and Fire King

A couple of days ago I saw on flickr this nice 50s MES pans, but up to now I haven't yet seen them on a flea market or in a thrift store...Surprise, suprise I found two of them today.

"The Kumagai household often hosted many important people from the Shogunate and regional lords. Merchants, traders, and other businessmen were also frequents [sic] guests. It was also common to host important family events, such as marriages and funerals for relatives. Because there was such a large difference in social standing between their guests, and because they hosted so many varying types of events, the Kumagai had to prepare huge numbers of vastly different dinnerware.

For special occasions the family had dinner sets made with the family crest on them. They also had sets of the most extravagant lacquer ware and pottery. Even for these extravagant kinds of dinnerware, they had sets for at least 20 people, and sometimes for up to as many as 50 or 100 hundred [sic] people.

Even the containers used to carry food for trips out of the house were of an extremely high quality. These dinner sets were stored in special chests of drawers in a storehouse. When there was an event, the servants would take out the dinnerware for use. After finishing, the servants would carefully clean them, individually wrap them in paper, and then store them again.

Some of the most extravagant of their collection are displayed here."

The Vernier China Company was owned by Glenn and Eva (Fagley) Vernier. It is believed that the shop opened in 1936. Glenn Vernier died about 1966 at which time the business was taken over by his son, Robert, and perhaps his daughter, Pauline (Mrs. George Schlundt), both of whom lived in Michigan City, Indiana. Robert died in 1976. It is believed that Robert's eldest son, James, then ran the company.

The address of Vernier China Company was 3986 West U.S. Highway 20.

A document contained in a folder of the Federal Writers' Project contains the following information concerning the Vernier China Company:

Porter County's Only China Store

Reference

A. A. J. Vernier, Owner "Vernier China Company" Michigan City, Indiana

B. Archie Kortiz, field worker, Valparaiso, Indiana

One of the unique china stores of Indiana is located in Porter county, on State highway U.S. 20, one mile west of the LaPorte county line. Many prominent people and tourists stop there every year. This store, the only one of its kind located out side of a city, is owned by the Vernier China Company. A B

As one enters the main doorway, to the right runs a vista of pottery and glass stretching 75 feet by 60 feet, with 40 tables covered with white clothes, on which is displayed the most exquisite table ware.

In the beautiful crystal room etched table glass is displayed on tiered shelves of mirror, not just lengths of glass, but mirror so that on the first row there is a width of 14 in., that steps up to 8 in., up the same height and so until there is a 5 1/2 in. resting place for sets of rock crystal, which when "twanged" with the finger resound with a bell-like note; a set of etched glass in lily of the valley pattern; a beautiful display of rosepoint glass. A B

The whole place is a housewife's paradise, with everglade green glass. In the China room, there are dinner and tea sets with black silhouettes as the decoration; there are polka dot and basket weave; there are sets in "Fiesta" pattern of morning glory, with which goes Heather Bloom glass. There are pieces of Cambridge ebony and silver, and there is a table of Cambridge shell pink glass which looks like delicate opaque china. The designs following the convolutions of seashells in this collection are lovely. There is Syracuse Nimbus, with platinum. There are blue and green and ochre [sic] in petit point point. Noteworthy is the fact that the majority of places have a rising edge. Besides all this, when one enters and see's the fountain playing at the further end of the long room, and feasts the eyes on the beauties of the table decorations, he turns to a small table and discovers a exact duplicate set of dishes which is on the Yacht of Henry Ford at the present time. A B

Mr. Vernier, is an artist in display. He loves beauty and with his son, G. J. Vernier, and his grandson, Robert Vernier, [h]as a system of displaying for the 100,000, pieces of pottery and glass in their exhibit which is entirely new. A B
