Swaying palms, white-sand beaches, and melt-your-heart sunsets—that’s what you’ll find at island getaway Santa Catalina Island, just 22 miles/35 kilometers off the Southern California coast. Catalina, as everyone calls it, has all the elements you want in an island retreat—appealing lodgings, tempting seafood restaurants, beachy splendor, and family-friendly water sports. But you’ll also discover the unexpected, including a star-studded history—Marilyn Monroe lived here—exotic gardens, and even a wine estate.

William Wrigley Jr, the head of the Wrigley chewing gum empire, who died in 1932, purchased most of Catalina Island and protected it as a private land conservancy.

Wrigley played an instrumental role in the development of Santa Catalina Island, California, off the shore of Los Angeles, California. He bought a controlling interest in the Santa Catalina Island Company in 1919 and with the company received the island. Wrigley improved the island with public utilities, new steamships, a hotel, the Casino building, and extensive plantings of trees, shrubs, and flowers. He also sought to create an enterprise that would help employ local residents. By making use of clay and minerals found on the island at a beach near Avalon, in 1927 William Wrigley Jr. created the Pebbly Beach quarry and tile plant. Along with creating jobs for Avalon residents, the plant also supplied material for Wrigley's numerous building projects on the island. After the building of Avalon's Casino (see Avalon Theater (Catalina)) in 1929, the Catalina Clay Products Tile and Pottery Plant began producing glazed tiles, dinnerware and other household items such as bookends.

Another of Wrigley's legacies was his plan for the future of Catalina Island—that it be protected for future generations to enjoy. In 1972, his son, Philip K. Wrigley, established the Catalina Island Conservancy for this purpose and transferred all family ownership to it. Wrigley is honored by the Wrigley Memorial in the Wrigley Botanical Gardens on the island.

Just a simple picture practicing at home with my camera. Why coffee beans? I though, why not the beans instead the regular coffee. The flowers are from my backyard. Those are the only flowers I have at my house. I need to buy some more different flowers.

This is just to look for different ways and things to take pictures at home. I'm disable so I'll be at home a lot and I love landscape photography, but I need to learn other types of photography. Tell me what you think.

Some of my favorite days in the fall and the winter are days when we can bake some yummy yummy treats. Something about warm cinnamon rolls, a cup of cocoa and the coziness set by the oven being ignited all day long. Breads, cakes, cupcakes.. All the comfort goodies during the holiday season!

You can do all of these things in SL with your brand new Deja Modular kitchen from Granola at this months round of FaMESHed. Stop by to pick up some goodies including the Finn Pumpkin Bread at Peaches.

Crazy Tuesday: Plate design

This is one of the plates from one of my Bunnykins dinnerware sets I've had since I was young. My brother and I both had a set and the bowls, plates and mugs all have different pictures with bunnies doing different activities. This plate is my most favourite. The little bunny on the lower left reminds me of myself when I was little; always next to mom in the kitchen and carrying around my own stuffed bunny. Not much has changed, I am still close to my mom and I still enjoy cooking and baking. The only thing different now is I don't have my little bunny anymore.

Thanks for your visit! Happy Crazy Tuesday!

I went a different thought on the "Poisonous" for Macro Mondays, that is the ironic thought of putting a poisonous plant (The Holly Berry) on the holiday dinnerware.

Crazy Tuesday: Something old.

This is one of my Royal Doulton "Bunnykins" dinnerware sets from when I was a little kid. I am not sure if this is my set, or my brothers since we both had one, and I have them both. He is older than me (54 yrs) so that must mean this is REALLY old. ;-) I saved them for my kids to use, which they did. I will never get rid of them and to this day they remain in the cupboard with all of my everyday dishes where they can stay for the future grandkids to use someday.

Thanks for your visit! HCT!

The Language of Nature written on Glass Mosaics

Into the Hypostyle Room with the 89 Doric Columns & the Greek Theatre ( Nature Square ) atop its Ceiling

The columns are arranged like the stalagmites of a cave and the ceiling is decorated with Trencadís Mosaics depicting the Four Seasons and the Lunar Cycle.

Trencadís is a type of mosaic used in Catalan modernism, created from broken tile shards, glass and dinnerware.

Modernist architects made extensive use of ceramics, but Antoni Gaudi'smethod was more unconventional. He covered his three-dimensional architecture with glazed ceramics of different shapes and colours, which created brightly coloured patterns. He used discarded pieces of ceramic tiles collected from factories. He gave the pieces their final shape with a hammer and pliers so that the pieces would perfectly fit together.Today we can still see original examples of Gaudí's handiwork in the Casa Batlló,La Pedrera & the Sagrada Família.

Park Guell was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.

lets just say i am talking about Dinnerware.

yet, china used to be a very great culture, like no other. then, one day, they kind of disappeared ...

in the kundalini yogic scriptures, it talks about cannabis and how it is accepted in the yogic lifestyle. however, it is not to be smoked, only eaten. the saying goes, "eating it causes good, smoking it causes bad".

now, back to china, one day smoking cannabis became the norm for the people of this once great nation.
