Bought these placemats. They seemed to go with the Francisican Starburst Dinnerware the best. Now to paint and embroider the designs.
Dinner for Mom. I wanted to use pictures and family things. The blue jars are Mom’s and she has a huge collection of them. They are iconic. The crystal is my Grandmother’s. And while I didn’t ask her if she still does like them, daisies used to be a favorite flower of Mom’s so I went with them as the theme. I made photo collages in PS with pictures of Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma for the placemats.

I made up a tea party table for my Mom and her sisters, themed around white owls, books, and blue. On the menu, ribbon sandwiches, chicken curry sandwiches, and elderflower lemon cake.
Easter dinner for me and Mom. On the menu, spiral honey baked ham, roasted maple glazed carrots, salad, and carrot cake.
A pic of the actual dinnerware that George Eastman used when he had dinner for guests at his home.
He used to love to entertain is what we are told on our Tours of the Eastman House.
I would be afraid to use these glasses I believe.

A simple layout for me and Mom on Thanksgiving 2017. I wasn't thinking about sharing photos at the time so I didn't take many and my photography skills aren't so good.

Dinnerware, particularly, should not be mechanical in appearance but should have a relaxed quality...Function, while important, should not be the only--or even the primary--consideration in design. Design itself is a function in that it can produce a visually pleasing article that goes beyond pure use. -Ben Seibel, 1953
Ben Seibel (1918-1985) is rapidly gaining recognition as one of mid-century America's foremost modern ceramic and industrial designers. Seibel's studies, which included architecture at Columbia, industrial design at the Pratt Institute, painting under Schanker, and sculpture under Amino, prepared him well for his design career.
