It was a freezing, sunny day

but in the picture

the snow, quite dirty, turned out gray

and the shadows a light blue.

Oak trees in the woodlands tend not to be as colorful during the fall as the ornamental trees used in landscaping around communities. Nevertheless, it is a special time to be out in nature… especially around water. I shot a series of sunset photos after hiking down to a primitive campsite along the shoreline of Argyle Lake near Colchester, Illinois. This photo was taken looking down the lake towards the dam and spillway. I think it does a good job of conveying the peace and serenity of this setting.

Taken on a very wet day in Restore's Beehive Cafe Garden. I like the suggestion of a heart-shape at the centre of the rose .. Focus is slightly soft due to the rain - I got totally drenched and the camera spent a few days in the airing cupboard lol !

Endless summer

A completely clear sky is not ideal for pictures.

The sun's rays burst forth from behind a cloud signaling the end of another beautiful tropical day on Charlotte Harbor in southwestern Florida. The sunset was shot from the mangrove shoreline of the Ponce De Leon Historical Park in Punta Gorda, which is a mecca for tourist and local sunset watchers.
