I was recently standing along a back road here in Alaska, taking in the beauty of spring. Leaves were popping out around me - beautiful snow covered mountains surrounded me - and the sun was warm on my shoulders - when suddenly . . . (with great fanfare and much squawking) - two Canadian Geese settled down not far from where I stood. After their long flight, I think they were in need of some rest, and maybe a long drink from one of the many ponds that dot our vast wilderness.

The Alaska Ferry System is a fun way to travel from Washington State to Alaska. The landscape is virtually unchanged since the early gold rush days. Snow covered mountains drop into the sea, and you will no doubt see whales along the way.

Doc and I have traveled on every ferry in the fleet, in every season, and always had a great time. Purchasing a stateroom makes the trip even more relaxing and enjoyable. You can sip your favorite beverage in complete privacy, and watch the wilderness slip by your very own cabin window.

Infrared image pf excellent, locally-grown, organically-grown vegetables for sale at the local farmers' market. IR color profile derived from 590 IR filter using color modifications in Photoshop and Camera Raw. I like the suggestion of translucence in the vegetables.

When you spend seven months without a glimpse of a flower or a beach - your imagination takes over.

Taken on a very wet day in Restore's Beehive Cafe Garden. I like the suggestion of a heart-shape at the centre of the rose .. Focus is slightly soft due to the rain - I got totally drenched and the camera spent a few days in the airing cupboard lol !

A very tired mama moose walks around her baby, (who had collapsed in the snow), and continues to look for willow shoots. Moments later she dropped down into the snow as well, to rest and conserve her energy.

Today we have been enjoying sun and warm temperatures'. (28 degrees above zero!) I fervently hope that we have left the extreme cold behind, and the animals will be able to rebound.

A panoramic view that is the sum of 5 images.

The images were taken at the 55mm range and slightly overlapped to eliminate seams. Since each image will have its own light/contrast tuning it is the only daunting task.

Why do it? To get a closer look than possible with wide angle lenses... and the linear expanse of the image.

Many DDG images (most discarded), Topaz, Photoshop and Efex ... and a lot of time and perseverance. It took a while! It might not be brilliant, but after all that effort, it is going on my Photostream! :)
