Summer slips by so quickly in Alaska. Our day is shorter by 4 minutes and 43 seconds as of today, tomorrow we will lose another 7 seconds - and so it will continue until December 21st. In one short month we will be reaching for a jacket before heading outdoors in the morning. Last night our temperature dipped down to 48 degrees Fahrenheit, and I snuggled down under a light fleece blanket and slept like a log. I am so glad the heatwave is over, and that we are back to more normal temperature's - but I will remember the nice warm day I spent on the edge of Chilkoot Lake, as a merganser preened his-self on the dock.

A combination of 3 images taken on the same day... horse...fence...tree. The fence was used to create a higher elevation for the foreground (horse) by placing it half way up the frozen tree canopy. The camera settings shown are of the tree.

Initially I contemplated a minimalist approach with just the bird on the lamp post... but going through my images of water reflections I felt this is a good fill for the negative space.

I watched as the sea lion's hauled their huge bodies from the sea, and then barked at each other as they fought for the most comfortable place upon the rugged rocks.

With the beat up buoy covered by gull's in the background - it looked like a floating birthday cake, with the sea lions singing the birthday song.

(Yes, I know I have a weird imagination.)

On exhibit some years back at the RBG (Royal Botanical Gardens), I'm still thankful of the piece of glass between us... one of the deadliest East African snakes. Slight manipulation and cropping.

Little by little, time crumbles the structures and eats away at the facades. In this drafty palace, even the ghosts of former enemies have been swept away.

Golden Gull or Golden Girl? This waterscape scene was shot at the Ponce De Leon Historical Park in Punta Gorda, Florida. It is a mecca for sunset lovers and plumed bird watchers alike.

Obvioiusly, I'm still having fun using my photographs as the foundation for creating composites (hopefully others besides me will view it as an artistic expression). This composite was created using the original scene shot on the shoreline of Charlotte Harbor in the Ponce De Leon Historical Park in Punta Gorda, Florida (sans the kayak and seagulls). The kayak/kayaker and all of the seagulls were royalty free downloads (my thanks to those photographers!). However, the boat in the background was part of the original scene.
