I managed to visit Holywell Bay twice on successive nights, and how different they were. While the Sunday night was full of colour Saturday ended in a dreary whitewash.
Trying to get a nice clean composition I decided to get a reflection of the island, but I had to get the camera virtually in the sand to get low enough, queue wet and soggy hand but at least the camera stayed dry!
There are only 3-colors, 10-digits, and 7-notes in my life now but not too long ago those numbers were each in trillions.
Funny how one person can make all that difference.
There was a time, there was always a time. A time when she was nothing more than a figure in the crosshairs of some scope, years had passed with this being the case. Something had changed, a point of no return... he wasn't just a thick headed marine anymore following orders, he was here by his own free will.
In the same location this time last year - see picture in comments...what a difference a year makes!

– What I want to show with this picture is the different paths taken. On one side, the car moving quickly on the road, clearly visible by all, and on the other side, the migrant moving slowly on a small path, almost hidden from sight.

– Ce que je veux montrer dans cette photo est la différence des chemins empruntés : d’un côté la voiture qui avance rapidement sur la route, visible de tous et la migrante qui avance doucement sur un petit chemin, discrètement.

On my return from my fell walk the day before I thought this scene might make an interesting photo. I took the photo and decided to come the next morning. The next morning was very wet but I had a plan so I hurriedly walked through dawn to get to this spot and take the photo. Although quite different its debatable if any make a good photo, The first photo is taken at dusk handheld with my Fujifilm XT5 and the second is taken at dawn on a tripod with my Canon R5.

A Volvo PV544 in Langen. According to Wikipedia, "In 1958, the PV544 was phased in. Subtle differences with the PV444 included the introduction of a curved one-piece windshield to replace the two panes of flat glass, larger taillights, and a ribbon-type speedometer. "

I am in the small town of Dubois, WY tonight. It is 80 miles from Yellowstone National Park, which is where we are heading in the morning.
This is what I see behind the motel we are in.
The difference between the two of them is pretty accurate in this picture. Londyn is just so tiny compared to Brooklyn. Brooklyn does not have ankles. She has "fankles" aka fat ankles. I think she has my ankles at the end of my pregnancy.
Last doc's visit there was a 2 pound difference between them but I'm curious to see if next time the difference will be greater.
It speaks for itself as it dies and there's nothing you can do to help.
This is poison and it's all that's left of this tree.
It's the only green it will see.
You can't fix everything.
If you try it will only kill you with worry needlessly.
So give up and let it go,
I never did understand why you tried to hold on.
Give up and admit when enough is enough.
It makes no difference if you do it or not,
It is already done and I've said enough!
As you already know
My word is Final So Good Luck!
It's a shame it had to come to this,
You never did learn until I made it painfully clear!
Why do people have to take the rocky path?
The road is paved just don't look back!
I hate to be mean but you gave me no choice,
Over is Over no matter what you want!

"What is the difference between "I like you" and "I love you"? Beautifully answered by Buddha: "When you like a flower, you just pluck it. But when you love a flower, you water it daily." One who understand this, understands life.”.
The displacement or the difference in apparent direction of an object as seen from two different points not on a straight line with the object... also I find it hard to see the "whole" frame in the small view finder, guess I forgot I have a head 😄 Camera works great (at least at fast speeds)

Q507 rumbles up to Flanders Avenue for a crew change with CSX B36-7 #5900 leading a newer ES44DC. The differences between the two GE products are quite striking. Also, for the horn buffs, the RS5T above the cab was deafening...

After a while, you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul. You learn
that love doesn’t mean leaning,
and company doesn’t always mean security. And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts, that presents aren’t promises; and you begin to accept your defeats with your head up, and your eyes ahead - with the grace of woman, not the grief of a child. You learn to build all your roads on today, because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans, and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much. So you plant your own garden, and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
You learn that you really can endure.
That you really are strong.
That you really do have worth.
And you learn,
and you learn,
with every goodbye, you learn. - Veronica Shoffstall

This whole day was amazing! I wanted to do my take on "Cupid, Reimagined" in this shot. I wanted to show Cupid as someone who, instead of shooting lovers down, collects flowers and teaches people to be the right person to themselves first - not a prerequisite for "love" per se, but certainly for a deep and long-standing love.
What a difference a week makes. I took this at Beer in Devon last Sunday and although the sky was blue and the sun was shining, the wind was so cold, no-one, but no-one would have been sitting on the beach. Wind forward one week and it was blazing hot and everyone was heading for the beach over the holiday weekend. The scenes on TV showing Bournemouth beaches made me shudder: not one inch of spare sand could be seen with all the people on the beaches. They reckoned they had 100,000 visitors over the weekend.
An image useful in showing that there are signifcant subtle differences among cygnets especially. Tundra Swans (Cygnus columbianus) at a local pond, Kelowna, BC.
The same spot on the Eldred river with high water flows, shutter speeds of 1/20 and 1/640 of a second.
Day three... and I awoke to a very different world outside my window. This shot is slightly further away because for some reason I thought twice about wading out over a stream when it was covered in snow and ice.
As the evening began to kick in the pair of Stone Curlew (Burhinus oedicnemus insularum) got more active, giving some stunning views in the process, in stark contrast to the distant views we can get of the ones that breed in the UK.
It was even possible to see the subtle differences between the male and female they were so close

Imagine if you were unable to touch or kiss your newborn baby. This is an ordeal thousands of families, whose child arrives too soon, too small or too sick, are forced to go through each year. But you can help. By baking and selling cupcakes, you’ll be raising funds to help support families during what can be a very lonely and frightening time, and to provide a brighter future for their babies.
Some facts and figures:
• There is a shortage of 1,150 nurses to care for the 70,000 babies in need of specialist hospital care in England. Less than a third of units have enough nurses to meet minimum standards.
• Neonatal units are working way above recommended occupancy levels meaning there is no safety net for peaks in the number of babies being admitted to units.
• Families of babies admitted to specialist hospital care face a crippling financial strain on top of the normal costs of having a new baby.
• Over half of parents face the prospect of not being able to stay near their baby in hospital due to a shortage of overnight rooms for families.
Cake A Difference is the annual fundraising initiative from Bliss, the special care baby charity. Bliss offers guidance and information at a critical time in families' lives, funds ground-breaking research and campaigns for babies to receive the best possible level of care regardless of when and where they are born. Cake A Difference 2011 takes place from 14-20 February 2011. For more ideas on how you can support Bliss contact katiaw@bliss.org.uk
