What a difference a day makes; last Friday I was at a press call for the Moscow State Circus and the on Saturday I photographed a massive Orange Lodge march through Johnstone involving over 40 bands (it took at least 40 minutes to pass my viewpoint). While most people probably think that such marches are only held in Northern Ireland they are very much part of life here in Scotland as well as in parts of England. The weather was kind for once, if not a little too sunny given the length of their march, marching all round the town while playing their instruments and carrying their various banners is no mean feat!!
Wow! what a color difference a few days can make.
My previous post was a Steller Jay against green Birch leaves.
The Mountain Ash leaves just turned color about three days ago.
So, tonight, I shot this Steller Jay using the beautiful gold & red of the neighbors Mountain Ash as a background.
Camera settings: f/5.6 - 1/100 - 200mm - ISO 640
Using fill flash.
This individual is a good deal grayer overall, which might make it a female, though it still has substantial yellow in the wings and tail. Note the difference in bill color - gray to the male's off-yellow tones. Mono County, CA.

It isn’t enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn’t enough to believe in it. One must work at it." - Eleanor Roosevelt
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
auf Wunsch von Kristina hier noch eine weitere Version. Für mich eher inakzeptabel, da die hellen Himmelsbereiche ausgefressen wirken und dafür jede Menge räumliche Tiefe einfach ins Grau verschwindet.
I know this picture is quite simular to the last one, but it is from the same series- I hopethis isn´t any problem and you will like this picture anywaaaays :-)
Meet me on facebook!

On Wednesday morning I cut a hole out in the wall, we then threaded the beam through the hole, and propped it. I then dropped the doorway opening; and I took out the fireplace in the background.
Of course the bricks that were taken out needed stacking (ready for cleaning, and re-use). The debris needed taking down the stairs to the skip outside. This is the first floor of the building.
On Thursday morning I straightened up the sides of the door opening, ready to take the lintels next week. I can then wall up above the lintels, remove the beam and take out the props.
I started to wall up the fireplace opening in the background too.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair.

Thank you for taken your time to visit me, comments or faves are always much appreciated!
A rare sight around this area (Bearsden) - a number 60A bus! Taking my life in my hands standing in the central reservation of Maryhill Road though I once did similar on the Champs Elysee. Not much difference.
Dawn over Napoli on a day that would turn out to be rainy, giving the town a completely different look. But Vesuvius is still hulking.

The difference between technology and slavery is that slaves are fully aware that they are not free..ILD,my Sunbeam, you help me to see with my own eyes again💕
As noted in the prior scan, 130 and 129 had a split fuel tank, one for fuel and one for boiler water. This shows the difference with sister 159, which has the standard 1/2 fuel tank and the other half as added weight that included a tool box, spare knuckles and chains. Ah, the sound of that Nathan P5...
Thanks again a million Jérémie for the great inspiration and for the precious assistance in the preparation of this fantastic trip to the Falklands.... The photo was taken within a few days of the previous posting but on a different Island. There was such a dramatic difference in the size of the chicks. The Islands located in the west part of the Falklands have a reputation to generally offer a more friendly weather than the Islands locate in the East. The nature can be very harsh for the wildlife in the Falklands but birds display an amazing level of resilience.
The main differences with the previous version are:
- higher stiffness of the camera support
- Improvement of the positioning system
- acquisition stack sequence automated with Arduino
- whole process controlled by PC
To simplify the realization and considering that it is intended for a studio-system I have chosen to control everything from PC and not locally

A juvenile Red JungleFowl in Pasir Ris Park.
Explore with me in my blog: Pasir Ris Park Mangrove Forest
Note: The most obvious difference between the domestic chicken and the wild Red JungleFowl is in their legs and feet. Domestic chicken has yellow legs and feet while the Red JungleFowl has greyish legs and feet. There are a few families of Red JungleFowl running wild at Pasir Ris Park. And no, you cannot catch them for your BBQ coz they are protected by the law.

The difference even a few minutes can make.
This was shot on the same evening as the other one I posted yesterday. This one was shot with a different, faster lens that was a different brand.
This was shot at f.2.8 at 24mm and a shutter speed of 10 seconds from a sturdy tripod.
There are a number of factors to keep in mind when shooting the Milky Way. One is that shutter speed really matters. It is dark, so the photographer needs to keep the shutter open longer to let in more light. But if it is open too long then you get star streaks because the earth is constantly moving.
Tripod sturdiness is also a factor. With a long exposure like this, any vibration at all can mess up the image. It was slightly windy and I had to block the wind with my body. It was more successful at some times than others.
The wider aperture let in more light and I found that it also has more of the fainter stars. There was also some not really fog but a bit of a haze that seemed to come and go.
Finally, the camera's dynamic range - -the range from pure white to pure black -- isn't as wide as the human eye. How much so varies between cameras, and newer ones tend to have more range. This means the initial image taken will not look like what the eye saw. The photographer can choose to use JPG settings in which the camera tries to adjust the image. Or, the photographer can shoot in RAW and make the adjustments manually.
-lots of activity at Humber Bay yesterday with RWBB's, Starlings and Common Grackles among the noisiest, a huge difference from the quiet of just one week ago...
What a difference 48 hours and an abundance of unfounded rumors regarding the aurora borealis can make. Two nights ago there were no fewer than a hundred people in and around this exact spot at Sparks Lake in anticipation of the Northern Lights that never really materialized in central Oregon. This evening, I had the entire place to myself - sunset wasn't spectacular, still, there wasn't another place in the entire world I would have rather been.

I posted a similar shot of this discharge tower at the Craigmaddie Reservoir about 8 months ago. Since then some alterations & maintenance has been done. The A frame removed & metalwork repainted. This was taken on Tuesday & there was (very unusually) a significant police presence. Given the subsequent news that a woman’s body had been found in Glasgow that morning & police were searching this area for a missing man. Today (Thursday) comes the news that they have found a man’s body in one of these reservoirs & the police suspect a murder/ suicide. Scary - I might have been there when this was happening. I saw nothing.

What a difference a day makes! Yesterday it was overcast and raining - today it's a fine but 'Crisp Autumnal' start!
It's 10.00am on Sunday 9th October 2016 - the final day of the Great Central Railway's 2016 Autumn Gala. Now we see 'Resplendent' SR 1917 Urie Designed 5P 4-6-0 'King Arthur Class' 777 Sir Lamiel 'Glisten', in the mid morning sun, when passing Rothley Brook with the 10.15am service for Leicester North.

Description: Damselflies resemble dragonflies, but are actually separate entities, even if related closely, also being Odonatas, and are no less rare, at least in some places of the planet. Most damselflies share the feeding habits of dragonflies, consisting of an insectivorous diet. Not only that, but they also possess an exceptional vision, being able to see in all directions except directly from behind. The main difference layman people should watch out for when discrimating a damselfly from a dragonfly lies in the wings. NORMALLY (notice the emphasis on this word), damselflies rest with wings closed, while dragonflies always rest with wings open. Some facial traits can also be seen as a difference to more experienced individuals.
Feeding habits: Predator.
Wherever courting couples find themselves these women with their roses are bound to follow. Turkish people are extremely polite to these persistent women. Eventually one goes and the next one pounces. I can't imagine British couples being half as patient.
Emily : "We finally get all our clothes in one place and that was the best outfit you could come up with?"
Elizabeth: I'm watching Tulley, Booley's children and Squeaky's dog by myself. Being presentable for company was not the first thing on my mind this morning. Say hi to Kyle, Emily."
Emily: "Yes, I see you, dear....I also see that he's standing on your chair....with his feet."
Elizabeth [slowly and sternly]: "Again... watching all of them...by myself."
Toute la différence avec un beau soleil ce matin et la neige tomber hier qui augmente de beaucoup la lumière ça me permet ce genre de capture avec ce fond créer avec la neige bleutée en douceur avec le blanc
The difference with bright sunshine this morning and the snow fall yesterday which greatly increases the light that allows me to capture this kind of create with this background with snow soft blue with white!
I know this has been done before, but i found it exciting and so I wanted to try it myself. The little difference is that this is a composite image of three shots with different exposure times and different amount of movement for the blur when exposed. The notes on the image will tell you which part is from which exposure. I know this perhaps could've been achieved in photoshop, and much easily, but it was more for the fun of trying to perfect it myself.
Apologies for not being too regular with your work. Work was pretty stressful this week. I'll be catching up with most of your posts soon.
Thanks to all of you for your time, comments and favs. Truly appreciated..
