This is my second CHS 100.
After the first one, I learned not to ignore the "DONT OVEREXPOSE" in the package ... The grain on bright pictures is awesome ...
So this is my 2nd series, I tried to do it a bit underexposed.

This studio aimed to develop and further a students' understanding of architecture by studying the intersection of at, design and materials science. Three primary exercises helped develop student’s techniques of drawing, making and organizing structures. This course was specifically created to play off students' non-architectural education by introducing a domain of investigation whereby students learned to design through the lens of cross-disciplinary experimentation.
Throughout the semester students investigated generative art, design and materials science through the lens of “pattern formation” and attempted to extract principles, learned techniques and developed strategies for design. By studying the formation of materials students explored both the fundamental science as well as new advances in research to understand the building blocks of matter, organizational patterns, processes of material creation and micro-to-macro material behavior. To draw comparison, students also researched both contemporary and historic works of generative art and design to understand the rules, logic and components of the work and how high-level patterns emerge from local interaction. These seemingly opposite fields converged and become precedents for three exercises: 1. Generative drawings, 2. New material formations and 3. Living objects / growing structures.

"In the late 1990s, Porsche had begun developing a new prototype to replace its Le Mans-winning LMP1-98 and 911 GT1 racers. The new Carrera GT would be driven by a normally aspirated, wide-angle V-10, based on the engine built for the Arrows F1 team. After prototype testing was already underway, two events occurred that would send the project in a different direction. First, the FIA abruptly changed its prototype rules, and then a world-wide economic slowdown forced Porsche to reconsider its priorities. Management realized it needed to quickly bring a new sports-utility vehicle to market. The Carrera GT’s engineers at Leipzig were transferred to what would become the hugely successful Cayenne, a model that returned Porsche to financial health. With its future assured, Porsche moved the Carrera GT back to the front burner as a high-performance road car..."

Last week I started to draw and digitize my typeface for the MA course. This is the version I worked on last week under the supervision of Gerard Unger. Today it was corrected by Gerry. It seems like I have lots of things to do this week ...

Polish aid helped to develop agricultural cooperatives in difficult Palestinian conditions. Innovative solutions make it possible to cultivate vegetables without having access to agricultural land and with limited water resources. Crops are cultivated on the balconies, terraces and in the courtyards, and special attention is paid to optimal watering methods.

The P-40 is probably the most recognizable of the Curtiss Aircraft Company’s designs. Developed from the P-36A in 1938 the P-40 was technologically inferior to the fighters then in production and development elsewhere in the world. However, it was ordered in large numbers by the U.S. Army and in smaller numbers by the British and French primarily because it could be built quickly and in large numbers using existing production lines. The P-40E model was upgraded with six wing mounted .50 caliber machine guns in place of the original four wing guns. The P-40 remained in production until 1944 and served throughout the war, despite being superseded by newer designs. Curtiss built a total of 13,738 aircraft, by far the largest production run of any Curtiss design. This aircraft has been reconstructed from the parts of several P-40s.

The G77 Shines a Ray on Loss and Damage
The developing country group, G77 wins today’s ray of the day award for joining together to stand up for vulnerable country members facing the worst impacts of climate change, in the face of fierce opposition from rich countries.
Joel Suarez Orozco, as the coordinator for G77, has, for the first time since Warsaw, brought together the group and has furthered the case for vulnerable countries to receive the support they deserve – in addition to pushing the loss and damage body to get a mandate from the COP that will allow it to be effective.
In particular, a major contribution was made to the preamble, which states that Parties note with concern the increased frequency and severity of climate-related disasters. This provided a concrete reference for confronting realities and not allowing those in Annex 1 countries to duck away.
The G77 is standing behind those most vulnerable – the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), however this wasn’t enough to convince the big bullies of Australia and the US.
When asked about the recent climate-related disasters and increased impacts, Australia acknowledged the events, but questioned if it was due to climate change. Mr. Orozco was quick to counter with an impassioned plea, “When your island is destroyed when the roof of your house is gone, you know it´s climate change.”
At this Pacific COP, we cannot ignore those that are the most vulnerable, we must take a stand.

From September 15th to 19th the second of the four JCOM Masterclasses, educational programmes aimed at an international audience and held by international experts takes place. For the 20 selected participants this interactive course represents a unique opportunity to discuss the state-of-the-art of science exhibition development with particular focus on the possible different design approaches, helping participants to reflect on the relationship between the different media, contents and visitors' experience.
Intel and Inwindow Outdoor have developed the latest advancement in digital signs, called “Experience Stations,” capable of interacting in a multitude of ways. On the hardware side, these state-of-the art units incorporate large-format 70-inch touchscreen displays to accept multi-touch inputs; near field communication (NFC) for two-way transactions with mobile devices; and 3D cameras so customers can precisely control the sign with gestures. When people approach, real-time analytics software determines their gender and age and subsequently plays targeted advertising based on the audience demographics; therefore, showing the right message to the right people at the right time.
