Self developed. I got careless with my film drying and had some nasty water spots on this one. Scanned as color and left unretouched for that "vintage distressed" look. (Or that "guy who doesn't know what he's doing" look, take your pick.)

In mid March small Vernal pools and puddles are numerous at Broughtons Wildlife Education Center near Marietta Ohio, and many of them contain masses of frog or toad eggs. I took several shots but this one is particularly neat because you can see the developing embryos pretty clearly.

Girl Geek Academy presents a fabulous experience full of fun, developing friendships and learning to code where girls and women* will learn together!

#MissMakesCode is the first initiative in the world created to build confidence and self-efficacy in the areas of algorithmic thinking, programming and coding for young girls.

After meeting with Girl Geek Academy, the group split. Each group (women and girls) learned tech and coding with their peers

The groups then rejoin to use their new skills to make a game together.

We also discussed gender equality with a representative from Women's Health East.

This was a fabulous opportunity for women to experience coding alongside their girls, as well as the ability speak openly about cyber safety and gender equality issues.

We also provided access and advice about the resources attendees need to continue coding at home.

Normally valued at $149, thanks to our partners these workshops were free!

* We warmly welcome anyone who identifies as a women or non-binary.

This country estate was developed during the 1890s and early 1900s by Moses and Bertha Cone, the son and daughter of German and Jewish immigrants. Moses and his brother Caesar established one of North Carolina’s largest textile empires during the late 19th and early 20th century.

Cone fashioned the estate, with its 23-room Colonial Revival mansion Flat Top Manor, as a healthful retreat from the rigors of his business empire. 25 miles of well-planned carriage roads, two man-made lakes, and apple orchards are part of the estate.

Today the manor and the entire estate are one of the most heavily used areas along the Parkway and home to the Parkway Craft Center. Carriage roads are popular for hiking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing, especially by residents of the Boone and Blowing Rock areas.

Together the Moses H. Cone Park and Julian Price Memorial Park comprise the largest developed area set aside for public recreation on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

It is on the Blue Ridge Parkway between mileposts 292 and 295 with access at milepost 294. Most locals call it Cone Park. The park is run by the National Park Service and is open to the public.
