# Despite my efforts, such moments still occur, attacking with emotional ferocity... often over seemingly small, innocuous items, memories..... and so it goes. In rough shape, I thought of Flickr for catharsis of a sort. So, thank you for the visit. Prost.
Despite the stll flooded campground/park down from the house. Kids still get out there and have fun....this is the top of a picnic table conopy top...LOL!!!!

Despite its name, Texas Star Hibiscus (Hibiscus coccineus, Malvaceae) is not a Texas native, though it is native to North America. A vigorous perennial hardy in Zones 6-11, it produces large, star-shaped, white or bright red flowers that bloom from late spring into fall. It grows 4-6 feet tall x 3-4 feet wide on average, but can get larger. (shadesofgreeninc.com/texas-star-hibiscus/
Despite a low tide, with Cockwood Harbour completely devoid of any seawater whatsoever, an opportunity of shooting an early-evening CrossCountry HST - in their last full year of operation before the planned phase-out in the Autumn - at this classic location was too good to miss. 43184 "Laira Diesel Depot" leads XC02 and 43239 with the 1E73 17.27 Plymouth-Derby (vice Leeds) service on a fantastic Spring day.

Despite their relatively plain colouring (compared to the parrots, rosellas and robins anyway), the Grey Shrike-thrush is one of my favourite birds, their beautiful song is one of my favourite sounds.
Despite the "brow" PTC array on the front of the cab, BNSF Train L KAN0191 07F still looks nice with all yellow bonnet paint as they head up the BNSF Strong City Sub. towards Superior, NE.

Despite its dampened head plumes and black frill I was delighterd to see this single Great Crested Grebe on one of the lakes at Titchfield Haven.
Despite the lingering chill, my beloved Narcissi flowers have burst into bloom today. They stand tall and proud, a vibrant splash of white against the mountain landscape. And oh, the scent! Their intoxicating fragrance has already begun to fill the air, instantly transporting my senses from the grip of winter to the sweet promise of a glorious spring day. It is not just a perfume! it’s a whisper of warmth, a breath of renewal, and a much-needed lift for the spirit.

Thank you all for your kind responses.
Despite the cloud and forecast rain we decided to take our dogs for a walk at a local conservation park. Along the trail we ran into a number of wild turkey so being Thanksgiving Monday in Canada I thought it only fitting that I post a photo of a turkey :)
Happy Thanksgiving Day

Despite all the PSR changes around the UP in the Upper Midwest, Tuesday remains a Duluth day for Job 61. UP 1337 leads three cars over No Name Creek in Duluth, MN on the gorgeous morning of August 4, 2020. The weather this summer has been really nice up here so please remind me of that when I complain about our short fall and long winter.
UP still runs this transfer twice a week to Duluth on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Itasca Yard in Superior. All 3 of these cars will be interchanged with CP at Rices Point. UP 1337 will return to Superior with 2 cars from BNSF.
Despite recent rains, the landscape holds memory of the heatwave, the land a soft light brown.

Despite having been to Skiathos many times this is the first time we've ever stepped on to Lalaria Beach, famed for its white pebbles and blue waters. It is only reachable by boat so is very remote, and, I've got to say, it really didn't disappoint!
Despite the presence of Vermont's number one client pleaser on this day, the Vermont Rail System failed to provide a matched set of red engines. Nonetheless, leased GMTX GP38-2 2147 leads both of the VTR SD70M-2s and a GP40-2 with about fifty slurry loads on this snowy Vermont morning, seen crossing Cuttingsville Trestle in the fresh white powder.

Despite our wet and chilly Spring our Roses have wakened from their Winter rest to fill the air with sweetest scents and to grace the garden with sights like this.

Despite being the commonest and most widespread UK bird of prey, it was still a priviIege and thrill to get so close to this wild bird.
I had to fire shots off one at a time or in small bursts as the shutter noise was distracting this buzzard from devouring its pigeon.
It is quite large with broad, rounded wings, and a short neck and tail. When gliding and soaring it will often hold its wings in a shallow 'V' and the tail is fanned. Birds are variable in colour from all dark brown to much paler variations, all have dark wingtips and a finely barred tail. Their plaintive mewing call could be mistaken for a cat.
DESPITE BEING IN RUINS, THE synagogue in Vidin, Bulgaria is still famous for being the second-largest Jewish temple in Bulgaria. Built in 1894, it fell into disuse after the majority of the local Jews left Bulgaria during and soon after World WarII.
The synagogue was then seized by the communist government, and during the 1970’s, the Ministry of Culture and the National Institute of Monuments developed a plan to restore the building. However, when the communist regime collapsed in 1989, the project was abandoned, leaving the synagogue roofless and exposed to the elements.
Restoration efforts have been talked for years, but nothing has been attempted yet, and it still remains an empty shell.

Despite the pessimistic forecast, the Cumbrian Coast was totally clear from mid afternoon until sunset, which was ideal today as both the monthly test train and an extra Heysham flask service was operating. 37116 is seen doing the honours again, this time at Holmegate Farm, working 1Q47 Derby - Carlisle. 37421 was on the rear. I had not been to this location for some years, since the 37's finished on passenger workings. In that time, both lines have been relayed with CWR, and the familiar sound of wheels over jointed track is a thing of the past, at this location at least.

Despite poor light, the gorgeous colours of this graceful bird reflected nicely in the shallow water at Titchfield.

Despite the frosty day I decided to blow away the cobwebs and grabbed my camera with me. My way lay near a shop near which I found these wooden pallets and captured them. As a result, I got a rather original texture.
Despite the rain I traveled yesterday to Blairstown NJ to see some of the locations from the 1980 cinematic masterpiece Friday the 13th,
This is Main St. of Blairstown. In the movie, one of the doomed counselors walks into town along this arcade.
Despite having spent much of the year railfanning Pennsylvania shortlines in York and surrounding areas, the ESPN 1701 on East Penn's York branch has eluded my lens until last week. I finally caught the GP9 making a run to the NS interchange with six coil cars from Kloeckner Metals. After adding an empty to the train at the yard, 1701 can here be seen pulling south before dropping the loads at the interchange Siding, from where it will continue back to Kloeckner to spot the empty.

Despite the gloomy weather the autumnal colour brightened the day. Taken at the same place as the previous shot - the beautiful Stourhead Gardens in Wiltshire.

Despite not being able to visit a few iconic places, the forever changing weather conditions enabled me to get some nice photos.
I couldn't ask for a better lighting condition when we arrived at Grundarfjörður in the early afternoon. Kirkjufell Mountain was beautifully lit up and partially bathed in golden light!
You read it correctly, it's was only 2pm in the afternoon!!!
In less than an hour of time, the rain would arrive and all good lights were lost for hours to come.
Dear Flikrites, keep putting your 💕in your photos!
I am always grateful for your visit, wishing you a very happy weekend! 🌻🌞
A medium-sized songbird endemic to New Zealand, restricted to predator-free offshore islands and North Island mainland sanctuaries. Male has a black head with conspicuous white ear tufts and a white wingbar. Note the vibrant yellow neck and shoulder band. Females and juveniles only have the white wingbar. Curious by nature, confidently approaching people at close range. Despite this, the species can be difficult to spot due to its rapid movements. Both sexes give a high-pitched, single-noted “titch” warning call. Males also produce whistled calls of 2-3 notes. Females can be distinguished from bellbirds by lack of green coloration. Also note the constantly cocked tail and the white wing patches. (eBird)

Twice seen and only in tightly protected reserves, the Stitchbird prefers the darker sections of the forests. This is not a great photo, but it is the only one that I managed to get that was not just a blur of noise. It is so sad to me that NZ's native birds have to be confined to these protected areas in order to survive. It is also the only member of its family, so if NZ loses the Stitchbird, it loses an entire bird family.

Despite the sun being behind it, DB Cargo 'Shed' 66095 catches a reflection from the glass facade of one of the contemporary buildings behind me as it approaches Cardiff Central station with a light engine move.
Originally intending this as a shot from some distance away, the subtle and unexpected illumination of the front-end changed the game plan. The working is the 7.58pm Margam - Alexandra Dock Jcn (0B23).
Comments off for this one, thanks.

Despite the lovely winter sunshine this morning the birds appeared a bit dozy and not showing their best. The hawthorns were attracting the thrushes though, including loads of Blackbirds which do migrate here from Scandinavia in large numbers every winter. Many of our breeding Blackbirds probably winter in sunnier climes in Iberia or North Africa
Despite being in full post-breeding moult this Blackbird is still carrying food - probably for a second brood
Despite the photo assist dog, sometimes I catch a nice moment with these birds.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Despite it's name this gull is quite rare in most parts of the UK.
Fortunately on the west coast of Scotland we have them in abundance.

Despite the freeze they managed a healthy comeback. These were taken near Houston, so they are at their peak, where I live they are just now getting started.
Despite Old Fall River Road being closed during a visit in early June, one of the highlights of our trip to Rocky Mountain National Park was hiking up the road from the Endovalley picnic area to Chasm Falls.
The Falls sit at 8,960' with a series of cascades below. The 1 mile hike to the Falls from Endovalley is not terribly strenuous, though it is steep; roughly 465' of elevation change in a mile. On the way back down from the falls, we stopped an admired this beautiful view of cascades, flowing rapidly with Spring melt.
