STATEMENT OF CULTURAL VALUE OR INTEREST:

- Built in 1905, the Skinner House at 95 King Street West is a high-style interpretation of the Queen Anne Revival style favouring the classical components of this aesthetic.

- 95 King Street West is distinctive for the variety and richness of its exterior and interior materials, including the use of decorative metal panels on the exterior of a residential building.

- The property does not show any distinctive technical or scientific achievement.

- 95 King Street West has direct associations with F.J. Skinner, for whom the residence was built. He was an important person locally, regionally and provincially, as the successful scion of an established Gananoque farm-product and vehicle manufacturing enterprise which merged with Oshawa car-building enterprises. The building illustrates the domestic architecture of a wealthy industrialist at a highpoint in the industrial mechanisation and growth of the municipality. Skinner also served two terms as an MLA.

- As the residence of a leading industrialist in Gananoque, 95 King Street West illustrates the transition of the economic, political and social hierarchy of the municipality from the earlier land-based and mercantile elite, which resulted in the moniker of the Little Birmingham on the St. Lawrence. The property may exhibit some archaeological potential. However, archaeology can be addressed through another process.

- 95 King Street West was designed by Frank T. Lent and built by Mitchell and Wilson, two of Gananoque's most significant built heritage firms. In addition to his designs, Lent dedicated much of his professional life to Gananoque and the Thousand Islands, and wrote several texts about designing and supervising the construction of residences, as well as providing mail order plans. The construction company of Mitchell and Wilson emerged to prominence in Gananoque in the mid-19th century and maintained this status into the late-20th century. Both firms were responsible for the design and/or construction of numerous iconic buildings and structures in Gananoque.

- The property is of high correlation to the physical, visual and historical surroundings in which it is located.

- As a prominent B&B establishment, clustered among other B&Bs on the Town 's high street, the property is a landmark based not only by its current use but also by its distinctive form, corner lot location, brilliant polychromatic exterior, and past functions as an elite residence, early tourist accommodation and nursing home.

HERITAGE ATTRIBUTES:

- Queen Anne Revival style with a classical emphasis as expressed by columns, pilasters, low-relief garlands , decorative panels, urn-topped rail posts and window

shapes.

- Highly animated asymmetrical composition that takes advantage of its corner lot.

- Corner tower with a conical top surmounted by a finial.

- Numerous gables also topped by finials.

- Wood clapboard cladding with decorative pressed metal panels for the fascia and wall panels - painted with a brilliant, polychromatic palette based on archival and paint analysis.

- Great variety of original window expressions :

So here it is, my 253rd 13.1 entry! Expect one final build in the next few days to kick off my brand new EU 'Rise of the Empire' story series!

The Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV)—official designation AAV-7A1 (formerly known as Landing Vehicle, Tracked, Personnel-7 abbr. LVTP-7)—is a fully tracked amphibious landing vehicle manufactured by U.S. Combat Systems (previously by United Defense, a former division of FMC Corporation).

The AAV-7A1 is the current amphibious troop transport of the United States Marine Corps. It is used by U.S. Marine Corps Assault Amphibian Battalions to land the surface assault elements of the landing force and their equipment in a single lift from assault shipping during amphibious operations to inland objectives and to conduct mechanized operations and related combat support in subsequent mechanized operations ashore. It is also operated by other forces. Marines call them "amtracks," a shortening of their original designation, "amphibious tractor."

A model thats been on my list for quite some time..seats 8 inside..maybe more if i mess around..here you can see the upper doors open with troops standing ready to dismount once they clear the water..just wanted to show that area so left it open.. support appreciated guys.. Styled after LEGO City set 7248: Digger for the 2017 Bio-Cup Eliminatory Round.

The round theme was to "remake any LEGO set you like, with a heavy technic/CCBS twist". I think that I hit all of those pretty decently by giving him a scoop for his left forearm that represents the scoop on the left side of the set, sticking tread units in the shoulders to represent the treads on the set, attaching a headlight unit that represents the subtle lights of the set, and including a windshield to represent the canopy on the set. I also tried to give him the style of a big, bulky yellow and black robot whose purpose is to clear out large areas for construction. I'm also pretty sure that I nailed the "heavy" aspect; he weighs 13.75 ounces.

The Sikorsky H-34 (company designation S-58) is a piston-engined military helicopter originally designed by American aircraft manufacturer Sikorsky as an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) aircraft for the United States Navy. It has seen extended use when adapted to turbine power by the British licensee as the Westland Wessex and Sikorsky as the later S-58T.

H-34s served, mostly as medium transports, on every continent with the armed forces of twenty-five countries. It saw combat in Algeria, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and throughout Southeast Asia; other uses included saving flood victims, recovering astronauts, fighting fires, and carrying presidents. It was one of the last piston-powered helicopter designs before its replacement by turbine-powered types such as the UH-1 Huey and CH-46 Sea Knight. A total of 2,108 H-34s were manufactured between 1953 and 1970.

Major inspiration was taken from Tommy's squad. He's tagged below ;)

One of the most beautiful chapels in the land

“The Rideau Street Chapel was originally part of Our Lady of the Sacred Hearts, a girls’ boarding school in Ottawa, run by the Sisters of Charity. The school first opened in 1849 and moved to Rideau Street in 1869. Over the years, it grew to occupy the entire block enclosed by Rideau, Waller, Besserer and Cumberland Streets. The Chapel was added in 1887–1888, designed by priest-architect Georges Bouillon. It is the only example of its kind in North America from this period to include a Tudor style fan-vaulted ceiling supported by slim iron columns.

The school was sold in 1970 and the entire property was scheduled for demolition in 1972. Thanks to the efforts of various community organizations who advocated for the building’s heritage status, the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada declared on 26 April 1972 that “the chapel interior is of national significance on architectural ground and the owners should be encouraged to preserve it if at all possible” [Luc Noppen, One of the Most Beautiful Chapels in the Land (Ottawa: National Gallery of Canada, 1988), 20]. Two days later, the Hon. Jean Chrétien confirmed the heritage designation of the chapel’s interior.

Although the school was demolished, the chapel interior was purchased by the National Gallery of Canada. With the help and collaboration of the National Gallery of Canada Foundation, the Friends of the National Gallery of Canada, various government bodies and heritage conservation groups, the Gallery was able to relocate the chapel and its original altar and altar screen – all 1123 pieces of it – to its current location inside the National Gallery of Canada’s new building in 1988, preserving this rare example of Canadian architectural history. “ [1]

Today, with 40 speakers carefully placed around the Rideau Street Chapel, visitors to the Chapel can sit in this beautiful space and listen to Janet Cardiff’s Forty-Part Motet. To say that this is a deeply moving experience is to minimize its effect on the listener. The sound is nothing short of beautiful.

“The publicly and critically acclaimed Forty-Part Motet is now back on display at the National Gallery of Canada. This brilliant sound sculpture by Canadian artist Janet Cardiff is a reworking of Spem in Alium, a piece by 16th-century English composer Thomas Tallis. Forty separately-recorded choir voices are played back through 40 speakers positioned around the Rideau Chapel in the Canadian and Indigenous Galleries. The effect of the work on visitors is deeply moving.” [2]

This Hill 582 is not a military designation on an army map, but rather a popular train watching location on Cajon Pass in Southern California. This spot is at mile 58.2 on BNSF's Cajon Subdivision, hence the "582."

The site was once a barren hilltop, like others in the area, but in 1992, Don E. Toles and his associates decided to spruce up the place with a rock garden and trees. In 1994, several eucalyptus trees were planted and are now over 20 feet tall. Many species of cacti were also planted. Some of these plants had been damaged in construction projects or vandalism, were rescued and replanted on the hill. Additionally, the site later became a memorial to area railfans, such as Chard Walker and Dave Burton, who had passed away.

Today, the hill is still a popular gathering spot for train watchers and photographers on weekends. They arrive with their RV's, cameras, lawn chairs and picnic supplies. Two or three times a week Don Toles and some of his friends show up to water the plants and groom the grounds for another onslaught of visitors.

"The 4-LMBR-34-R (LuMBeR) is a state of the art, fully automated logging robot, capable of clearing up to 200 acres a cycle. There are a variety of arm configurations which can be equipped, but the standard setup includes a Cratech Chainsaw, which can handle trees up to 2 meters wide, and a hydraulic claw for handling and transport. On top of that, our top-of-the-line targeting system allows the machine to accurately handle and cut fresh lumber. The ion batteries last for a whole 24 hours, with just an 8-hour recharge period. When it comes to safety, we don't slack. A biological scanner is implemented directly into the system so that if any sentient beings are detected it will switch into standby mode.

"Get across the bridge! Go! Go! Go!"

The energy bridge sprang to life before us, a brilliant pillar of blue energy stretching across the vast canyon that separated the Grand Army and the Twi'lek Resistance from the city of Lessu. The Twi'leks cried out, urging their Blurrgs forward and charged, thundering across the bridge towards the front gates of their capital city. Behind them, Clone Troopers from the 91st followed, running across the shimmering energy and taking up positions among the abandoned huts scattered across the barren land between the canyon and Lessu's towering walls.

While the Twi'leks and the 91st kept the Separatist commanders' attention on Lessu’s main gate, my squad made our way toward a smaller energy bridge on the southern side of the city. This bridge had been discovered by my scout, Chekar. Though too small for a large-scale assault, he had deemed it perfect for our needs. The Separatists had rounded up the city’s inhabitants, and were using them as human shields to prevent our heavy weapons from targeting the city's defenses. The 253rd's mission was to infiltrate Lessu and rescue these hostages before they could be caught in the crossfire.

As we neared the bridge, I heard Chekar curse over the squad net. He had spotted battle droids.

On the far side of the bridge, several B1 battle droids stood guard, while others were busy moving cargo behind the city walls. It seemed we wouldn't make it into the city undetected after all. I gave the command, and Vornskr opened fire, wiping out the B1s in seconds.

Leaving my heavy weapons team behind to cover the walls, I led the rest of Vornskr in a mad dash across the narrow energy bridge and into the city. Our charge was cut short under the gatehouse by a squad of super battle droids. The ensuing firefight was brief and brutal, but it did little to slow our momentum.

We fanned out into the buildings surrounding our objective. Below us in a large courtyard, nearly a hundred civilians were held captive, guarded by a handful of battle droids and, to my surprise, Zygerrian soldiers. Though unexpected, their presence mattered little. Once my squad had identified their targets, I gave the order. Blaster fire erupted, and below, the Twi'leks' captors fell."

It's been a minute.

2024 was a super busy year for me and unfortunately 2025 looks like it'll be much of the same. Despite that I fully intend to complete a few more 253rd missions over the course of the next year, and who knows maybe a few other build.

As far as the build goes, I wanted to go for a more sandstone castle esque look as opposed to the Lessu we see in the Clone Wars, and while I got a little distracted and the gate house turned out to be a lot taller than I intended for, I'm happy with the build. As for the photo, still messing around with my new camera and I've been unable to find a large enough sheet of poster paper to serve as a back drop so concrete will have to do for now.

Anyway if you read this far, please let me know what you think and thanks for stopping by!

Merits the designation of "National Thrush" given its continent-wide distribution. LSCMP.

Space superiority fighter designation ORCA. Weapons: gimbal mounted particle beam emitter for point defense, 8x medium-yield nuclear missiles plus mission-variable twin hard points. Propulsion is provided by an ion drive requiring substantial heat dissipation. The design of the ship offers a small and narrow frontal cross-section. Roundel features on either flank of the ship are classified and their function is not currently know. The chin houses six canisters of countermeasures. Pilots of these vessels undergo extensive genetic modifications to enable them to pilot craft in both zero and extremely high Gs.

My entry for the Starfighter 200+ contest. The initial design was a really simple, hard-edged rectangle with the alternating black/white graphic shapes. It looked a little boring so I'd add extra volume and embellishments only to regret that it started losing it's bold outlines and simplicity. After see-sawing back and forth a few times I finally settled on this iteration; a little bit of both. Heavily inspired by weapon design in games such as Destiny. And this blog.

Every single o e of us saw the mortar round hit Grozzish. It was like slow-motion. It the blast didn't kill him, the fall would.

[Nynir] Pilot! Get us down there now!

The gunship dropped us as low as it could go, and we decended the rest of the way on ascension cables. We were joined by Grozzish's war band as we made our way through the thicket.

[Tracer] Vod, scanners have picked up a life-form. Life signs fading.

We entered a small clearing, and found Grozzish laying in the mud and sand, bleeding out.

[Tracer] He's doesn't have much longer, Vod. His bones are shattered and I can't stop the bleeding. I've got gear for clones, not wookies...

Spitting up blood, Grozzish managed to growl out his final words.

[Thank you, clones, for coming to the aid of Kashyyyk. I can die in peace, knowing my people are safe]

The Legion was present at the funeral for Grozzish and the other wookies who'd fallen during the battle. A giant funeral pyre, out on beach, lighting up the night sky.

Kuat model: R24 halberd

Designation: I-wing

The mad engineers at Kuat Systems Engineering took on some of the requests from the newer resistance pilots and applied it to their ace in the hole. The R24 Halberd is a sort of successor to the RZ-2 A-wing.

Pilots took note of the B-wings agility incorporated a more agile body layout with a pivoting cockpit. Centred the engines and increased the amount of directional vanes. Many pilots would joke how the engineers are still just fitting the biggest and fastest engines they could to a chair. Pilots also wished to inflict more damage. So kuat slapped the biggest ion cannon they could fit… more jokes ensued about overcompensating until these I-wings started taking out capital ships while taking minimal damage due to the new found agility.

Due to the larger power draw of the ion canon, its laser cannons were swapped out for smaller faster repeaters that operate off less energy. With how fast and agile the I-wing was, the loss of range in dog fights is negated. I-wings were very demanding of the pilots abilities and not great for drawn out fights. But if you wanted to be an ace pilot in the resistance forever pushing the boundaries of your abilities, this was the starfighter

“There’s too many of them! They’re all over- AGH!”

Kriffing hell, the defense is faltering.

“Open the cells, Private.” I primed my blaster.

“But sir, orders are to stop them from getting to the prisoners.”

“Well, how’s that working out for us? Open the kriffing cells. Now.”

I stepped into the cells, one by one, and executed the inhabitants. The last thing I want to deal with are freed Trandoshans. When I stepped out of the last cell, battle droids poured into the room, killing the Private.

Well, I’m going down swinging. I threw my hammer around the room, taking out clanker after clanker. Once more of them entered the fray, I drew my blaster. Those bastards weren’t going to kill me that easily.

///

I slammed my hammer down on the head of the last droid. Heh, reminds me of Troy.

I turned back to the entrance to the detention block, and a number of Trandoshans entered the room, throwing down their blasters.

“Come and get me, you kriffing ugly lizards!”

I crushed one of them against the wall, and shattered another’s leg. Before I could get my hammer back up, it was knocked from my hands. I drew my vibroknife, and stabbed the nearest one in the eye. Another grabbed my arm, but I slid from his grip and slit his throat. He fell to the ground, clutching at his neck. Finally, another four piled onto me, punching and kicking. My helmet was kicked off of my head, and a rifle slammed into my head.

"When I arrived at the Zygerrian camp with the rest of Vornskr in tow, Jagserd Merad and his slaver outfit had already left the system. We had been delayed by a company of retreating battle droids trying to flee down the southern highway from Lessu. Fortunately, Chekar managed to bypass the battle droids and reach the Zygerrian camp while they were still in the process of loading their ships. He had successfully completed our objective, attaching a homing device to Merad's freighter before it lifted off.

I entered the camp to find Chekar standing over an abandoned holotable, examining something on a datapad. Looking up, he greeted me and informed me that he was in the process of recovering the files left behind by the Zygerrians. It was a lengthy process, but one that would prove to be well worth the time.

From the files Chekar recovered, we realized the true extent of Jagserd Merad's involvement on Ryloth. He wasn’t just another outlaw aligned with the Separatists for personal gain, but in fact an agent of the Zygerrian crown. When I reported this to Legion Command, General Kaolin found the news deeply disturbing. If Merad was aligned with the Zygerrian Government, it would signal a resurgence of the Zygerrian slave empire, something the Jedi and the Republic could not allow. Zygerria immediately became the Legion’s top priority. General Kaolin ordered the Legion to hunt down Merad and ascertain the true involvement of Zygerria in his operations, if the slaver's were trying to rebuild their empire we were to stop them no matter the cost.

Once we had finished canvassing the Zygerrian camp for any useful information, we returned to the Absolver. The hunt had begun..."

Landmark Designation: 2001

The Wadhams Station in West Allis, Wisconsin, located at South 76th Street and West National Avenue, was built in 1927. Harger W. Dodge, a son-in-law of Edward A. Wadhams, inherited the Wadhams Oil and Grease Company of Milwaukee in 1916. Responding to the merchandising problems of the new petroleum industry, Dodge set out to make his retail gasoline stations both utilitarian and aesthetically appealing.

He hired Milwaukee’s most prominent society architect, Alexander C. Eschweiler, to design a prototype gasoline station. Eschweiler may have chosen the oriental design for two reasons: the first was that the Japanese model had been established in the Midwest as a viable model for architecture at the Philadelphia, Chicago and St. Louis World Fairs of 1876, 1893 and 1904 respectively. The second possibility was that he was influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright’s work in designing the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, Japan. The station in West Allis was designed and built by Hugo C. Hauser of Milwaukee.

The Wadhams “oriental” station was incredibly successful, resulting in the building of over one hundred such structures between 1917 and 1930 throughout the Upper Midwest. Its unique characteristics included white painted brick walls, wood framed roof covered with stamped metal tile painted red, and stained glass windows on the north and south elevations. The stained glass windows are yellow displaying a large red “W” to advertise the company. The tile was manufactured by Bauer and Ward Sheet Metal Company; the brick came from Rickertson and Schwartz Brick Company.

Frank Seneca leased the station from Wadhams in 1938 until he retired in 1978. Restored in 1999-2000 by the City of West Allis Department of Development, the interior currently displays many artifacts from Wadhams and Mobil.

The designation KB-29M was assigned to 92 B-29s that were converted to aerial tankers using the British-developed hose refuelling system. In addition, 74 B-29 aircraft were converted as receivers for this system under the designation B-29MR. The primary goal of the project was to extend the range of the B-29 fleet to make it possible to attack targets in the Soviet Union with nuclear weapons.

The B-29MR conversion was carried out by removing all of the B-29 gun turrets and their associated equipment except the tail turret. On some of the conversions, even the left and right gun sighting blisters were removed and replaced by small ten-inch diameter windows to cut down on the drag. The rear bomb bay was fitted with an extra fuel tank of 2300 gallon capacity, and the forward bomb bay was modified to carry an atomic bomb. In addition, extra rendezvous equipment was installed to aid in the tankers and bombers being able to locate each other. The B-29MR had a refueling nozzle receptor installed on the lower right side of the fuselage, approximately at the location where the lower aft gun turret had been located prior to its removal. The receptor was connected to plumbing that transferred fuel to the gas tank system. A 450-foot cable (known as the hauling line) emerged from the center of the nozzle receptor. This cable was controlled by a hydraulic winch that was operated by a crewman sitting in the tail turret position. The end of the cable held a dish-shaped metal pan equipped with grapnel hooks. The winch operator had no way of seeing what was going on outside his immediate station and had to rely on guidance by an observer (usually the radar officer) sitting in the tail gunner's position.

Similar changes were made to the KB-29M tanker aircraft. All of the gun turrets were removed, including the tail turret. The bomb bay of the KB-29M was fitted with a separate fuel tank holding 2300 gallons. This tank was also plumbed into the normal aircraft fuel system so that fuel from it could also be transferred to the receiver aircraft. The KB-29M tanker aircraft carried a system of hoses, reels, winches and fuel pumps needed for the transfer of the fuel to the receiver aircraft. A power-driven reel for the refuelling hose was installed in the rear fuselage at the position where the lower aft turret had been located prior to its removal. The KB-29M also had a cable and associated winch (known as the contact line) that was used to assist in the setup of the connection between the two aircraft.

M-1 Crab Nebula.

The Crab Nebula (catalogue designations M1, NGC 1952, Taurus A) is a supernova remnant and pulsar wind nebula in the constellation of Taurus. The now-current name is due to William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, who observed the object in 1840 using a 36-inch telescope and produced a drawing that looked somewhat like a crab.[5] Corresponding to a bright supernova recorded by Chinese astronomers in 1054, the nebula was observed later by English astronomer John Bevis in 1731. The nebula was the first astronomical object identified with a historical supernova explosion.

At an apparent magnitude of 8.4, comparable to that of Saturn's moon Titan, it is not visible to the naked eye but can be made out using binoculars under favourable conditions. The nebula lies in the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way galaxy, at a distance of about 2.0 kiloparsecs (6,500 ly) from Earth. It has a diameter of 3.4 parsecs (11 ly), corresponding to an apparent diameter of some 7 arcminutes, and is expanding at a rate of about 1,500 kilometres per second (930 mi/s), or 0.5% of the speed of light.

At the center of the nebula lies the Crab Pulsar, a neutron star 28–30 kilometres (17–19 mi) across with a spin rate of 30.2 times per second,[6] which emits pulses of radiation from gamma rays to radio waves. At X-ray and gamma ray energies above 30 keV, the Crab Nebula is generally the strongest persistent source in the sky, with measured flux extending to above 10 TeV. The nebula's radiation allows for the detailed studying of celestial bodies that occult it. In the 1950s and 1960s, the Sun's corona was mapped from observations of the Crab Nebula's radio waves passing through it, and in 2003, the thickness of the atmosphere of Saturn's moon Titan was measured as it blocked out X-rays from the nebula.

"An injury kept me off of Cristophis with the rest of my boys, Lefty wasn't too happy about being under someone else's command but he dealt with it while I recovered. By the time they returned to the Absolver I was cleared for active duty again, finally. Sitting around here all day had me feeling antsy, like I was waiting for bad news. Lefty was the first to visit, he told me that the rest of Enigma was fine and that they suffered only minor injuries, nothing he couldn't patch up for them. There wouldn't be time to lick our wounds as we already got word of our next mission, Teth. Ships couldn't get in close enough to land cause of the cannons so they're sending us on foot to take care of that. Simple enough.

Lefty and I strapped on our jetpacks, ready to make the ascent up the cliff face once we touched down. I went around giving the rest of my squad help tightening the straps of their own packs and a pat on the shoulder for encouragement. I almost felt bad for the others who would have to climb the rock.

I felt the familiar thud of our LAATi landing and gave my men one last talking too before we began tackling our objective.

PROTECTOR-035: "Drinks on me after this, Enigma, stay smart, stay safe! Oya!"

And with that, we began to ascend. By the time we landed squads of regs had already began their own, arduous climbs, and some had met their own grizzly demise already. Bodies had already began to fall from up above, hitting the ground with a wet crunch. Even Lefty couldn't have helped those poor few. I fired up my jetpack and made my way up the cliff face, racing past those who were climbing, dodging the blasterfire that was directed down at us. Lefty and I were the first two of Enigma to reach the monestary and immediately began engaging with the crew of B1s defending the platform, disabling them as quickly as possible to keep themoff the backs of the others for a while before reinforcements were sent our way. The two of us held our ground as the rest of my squad touched down beside us, Cable immediately getting to work on opening the door so we could continue onto our next objective, destroying the cannon."

After the ambush the Separatist Forces were in full retreat.

.

Our contacts within the Twi'lek resistance have reported that these attacks are being coordinated by a Zygerrian captain named Jagserd Merad and their intel suggests that Techno Union leader Wat Tambor has given Merad full permission to pillage and raze any Twi'lek settlement in his path as he fights his way back to the capital city. The Republic Judicial Department has a warrant for Merad from before the outbreak of the war, he was a known slaver and warlord for the Zygerrian Empire and managed to evade capture by both the Jedi Order and Republic Security Forces during their anti-slaving mission in the Outer-Rim.

.

.

The Twi'leks believe he will take the canyon road to Lessu as the terrain will provide natural protection against attacks from the ground, however the Twi'leks believe they know a spot where we can successfully ambush his convoy.

.

.

So we set foot to our spot. When we arrived at the spot we saw Merad and his convoy coming right towards us.

.

When they were right beneath us we jumped right onto the convoy and opened fire.

Description of Property

•Building Name: Lighthouse Baptist Church

•Street Location: 266 King St.

•County: Essex

•Town: Amherstburg

•Builder: Unknown

•Ownership: Baptist Church

•Owner Address: Same as Above

•Original Owner: Roman Catholic Church

•Present Use: Place of Worship

•Date of Construction: 1856

Statement of Cultural Heritage Value of Interest

The Lighthouse Baptist Church is architecturally significant because it is an example of an early school house in Ontario. The building is created from bits of random limestone. The school design was distinctly elegant, though not advanced by the standards of the 19th century. Each window opening contains a fully developed classical tradition and is enclosed by a segmental arch. The building provides a refreshing break on King Street and at the same time the building’s stonework carefully maintains the street line.

The Lighthouse Chapel was built in 1875 by Peter Benner for the St. John the Baptist Parish. It was built of local limestone donated by the T.B White Proprietor of the Anderdon Quarry. T.B. White was a son of Solomon White, Council Chief of the Anderdon Band of Wyandotte Indians. In 1836, when the Anderdon reserve was surrendered and opened for settlement the White family retained their share of tribal lands the stone quarry on the Second Concession. This stone school replaced a smaller school of log construction on the same site. An early principal, if not the first, was Gordon Colborne who later left the teaching profession to study medicine. This log school was one of the earliest separate schools in Ontario. The basis of separation for St. John the Baptist School was the religious views of the parents, while other separate schools at that time were separated based on race. The setting up the St. John the Baptist school drained the Amherstburg public schools of all the Roman Catholic pupils leaving the Public Schools to be considered Protestant schools. One result was the latent religious prejudices came to the surface when frequent confrontations between the students of St. John the Baptist and the nearest Public School took place. These ranged from snowball fights to general scuffles with plenty of fisticuffs.

When St. Rose Separate School was built to replace the over-crowded St. John the Baptist Separate School, the old school became the Parish Hall. It had always enjoyed a dual function being the Amherstburg headquarters of several Catholic lay societies including the St. John the Baptist Society and the Catholic Men’s Temperance Society. However, from time to time when over-crowding became a problem, the old school was used for temporary classrooms. In time, parish use of the building dwindled to the point where further fund for upkeep were not justified so the building was sold to a Pentecostal group who renamed the building “The Lighthouse Chapel.” The group subsequently held church services commencing in September 1971.*

------------------------------------------------------

"That's a nice looking beach down there, I don't blame the Trandoshans for wanting to set up shop here, hell I'm surprised the Wookies haven't done so already."

"The tree's aren't tall enough di'kut, the Wookies wouldn't settle here even if they wanted to."

"Why is that? I don't understand why you'd live in constant danger of falling to your death when you've got nice uninhabited pieces of real-estate like this."

"It's because of the things that roam the forest floor, Rook was telling me they've got all sorts of creepy crawlies around here, including some the size of an AT-TE."

"Great it's going to be another one of those planets..."

"Cheer up vod it won't be that bad, with any luck they'll have developed an appetite for Trandoshans and leave us alone."

"Alright cut the chatter! Sicko will be dropping us off on the northern shore in t-minus three minutes, prep your gear and be ready to establish a beach head for the rest of the regiment. The larty will drop us off half way up the beach and then provide air support for the rest of the landing, due to the dense jungle it's scanners will be useless. Once we've secured the beach I wan't squads two and three to move twenty meters into the jungle and set up a series of LP-OPs, Fourth and First will remain at the beach head and provide security. Is that understood?"

"Yes Sir."

"Aye Vod"

"Got it"

"Copy that Galaar"

"General could you go with Second Squad? Lucky could use your help locating any signs of the Trandoshan hunters, from what I've heard you're pretty handy at tracking prey."

"I might know a trick or two, don't worry Galaar I'll find them."

"I know you will Sir. Alright Vornskr this is our stop, standby for departure!"

"Welcome to paradise meat-bags!"

"Oya Vornskr! Oya! Oya!

(Before the four Laat/i gunships can touch down on the sandy beach several of Vornskr's more daring troopers drop from the moving gunship landing softly in ankle deep water. With their DC-15s raised the troopers began to rush up the beach towards the dense jungle, passing the Gunships as they touched down and the rest of Vorsnkr Company began to disembark. As General Zsiva began to lead second and third squad into the jungle the sharp crack of a slug thrower rang out, followed by the muffled cry of a Clone Trooper as the round struck him in the chest-plate knocking him off his feet and into the orange clay at edge of the beach.)

"Feir'Fek! Sniper everyone get down!"

"Did anyone see where that shot came from?!"

"No sir!"

"Negative Galaar"

"Osik... Sicko can you locate him with the larty's scanners?"

"Negative Commander the foliage is to thick, scanner can't get through."

"Shab! Vornskr stay low and push the treeline with any luck he'll fire again and the gunships will be able to trace the shot!"

"Belay that order!"

"General?"

"Don't worry Galaar I have him."

(Zsiva stood and reached out both physically and with the force, his outstretched hand seemed to reach into the jungle. he stood there for what seemed like an eternity to Galaar who fought the urge to pull his General down and out of the sniper's line of sight.)

"General with all due respect you're going to get yourself shot. General you have to take cover!"

(As Galaar began to inch his way towards his general, the Jedi made a fist and suddenly jerked his arm back as if he was pulling a rope. With a startled crie the Trandoshan sniper flew from where he was hiding in the dense foliage and landed at the Jedi General's feet. The lizard snarled and reached for a sheathed hunting blade, but before he draw the weapon Galaar delivered a vicious kick to it's head, knocking the Trandoshan out cold.)

"That's a impressive trick General, we're lucky to have you. Thanks you and this di'kut we don't have to go trudging through the jungle looking for these lizard scum."

"Glad to be of service. Have your men establish the beachhead, once our host here come's to I'll see what I can get out of him."

"With all due respect General, I'd like to interrogate the Lizard myself."

"As you wish Commander, I'll assist Lucky with probing the jungle."

"Thank you Sir"

(Galaar motions to two of his men, giving them the go ahead to disarm and drag the lizard to the edge of the jungle where they prop him up against several crates containing medical supplies. Both troopers step back and stand by with their rifles held in the low ready, watching the Trandoshan intently for any sign of movement. Galaar approaches the unconscious lizard and removes a combat stim from his belt, he quickly preps the device before ramming the needle into the Trandoshans neck. The lizards eyes shoot up his pupils dilated and wide, Galaar plants his foot firmy against the Trandoshans chess pining it to the ground before administering a second shot, removing the effects of the adrenaline rush from the first shot. With the Trandoshan now conscious, calm and alert Galaar stepped back place his DC-17 blaster pistol above the lizards right eye.)

"Alright shabuir, you're going tell me where your lizard friends are hiding and save me and my men the trouble of hunting you through the jungle, or don't... either way I get to kill you lizard scum."

"You won't kill me, your Jedi master won't allow it..."

"Really... Is that so?"

"General he won't talk and I can't spare the men to stay back an watch him."

"Let me talk to him, I can be a little more persuasive..."

"Be my guest"

"You will tell us where your camp is."

"Ha! Your Jedi sssorssery won't work on me!"

"He's a lost cause Commader, do what you must."

"Copy that General."

"Wait! No you can't do thisss!"

"This is for the men we lost on Trandosha..."

Pew pew!

"Alright boys, looks like we're hunting them down the old-fashioned way! Oya Vornskr! Oya!"

If you read the log all the way through you can tell where I got distracted and where I decided I needed to wrap things because it's 1 am and I posted this thing on insta over a day ago : P

As far as builds go other than the next Legion mission, I have half a destroyed AT-TE that I really want to use in something so stay tuned!

As always thanks for viewing and have a great day!

Thetis, minor planet designation 17 Thetis, is a stony asteroid from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 90 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 17 April 1852, by German astronomer Robert Luther at Bilk Observatory in Düsseldorf, Germany who deferred to Friedrich Wilhelm August Argelander the naming his first asteroid discovery after Thetis from Greek mythology. " General Skywalker and the 501st made short work of the Separatist fleet blockading Ryloth. From what I've heard they quite literally crashed right through them, a reckless, but respectable tactic. While it cost the Republic a Venator, it cost Separatist much more. Not only was their fleet destroyed, but much of the Separatist ground troops were now in disarray. We were quick to take advantage of this, launching our gunships as soon as the Praetorian exited hyperspace above Ryloth. Despite the chaos on the ground , Separatist AA emplacements managed to make our decent to the planet's surface bumpier than usual. Once on the ground we proceeded to the 253rds secondary objective, a vineyard just north of Nabat where a Techno Union officer was holed up directing the cities defense. If General Kenobi's assault on the city was to be successful that officer had to go. The trek to the vineyard was both short and uneventful, we remained undetected by the local Separatist garrison and reached the vineyard without incident. The vineyard itself was a massive compound, walled and finely made, it looked out of place when compared to the smaller huts which the locals inhabited. Several workers met us outside the vineyards walls and led us through the compound, allowing us to bypass droid patrols and get to the Techno Union command center undetected. Unfortunately that's where our luck ran out, a panicked Twi'lek worker nearly tackled Lucky to the ground before franticly alerting us to the Techno Union officer's approaching body guards. The HK assassin droids rounded the corner and threw themselves right into my squad cutting down two of my men instantly with electro staffs and blaster fire. Despite their durability and skill, we had both the numbers and superior fire power needed to overwhelm and destroy the ancient assassin droids. Once his body guards had been dealt with, we made our way through the vineyards main structure, dispatching a few B1s on the way. We found the Techno Union Officer on a rooftop, one had on a small hold out blaster and the other fiddling with the gauges on his suit, cautious of the explosion that would result from his suit being breached and exposed to blaster fire, I had my men keep their distance and I dispatched the target with a kinetic projectile, we didn't need him alive after all. From there I had my men spread out and secure the compound while Lucky and I got to work collecting the officers data pads, computers and protocol droid."

-----------

I think I leaned a little too much into the vineyard setting, had way too much fun building the small structure (I think this means I need to build a castle). Anyway, I'm hoping to get a smallish WiD build done sometime in the next week or two (open to ideas, will definitely be a vignette of some sort). So until then, thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a good one!

Like a giant cosmic neon tube, the Tulip Nebula—exact catalog designation: SH2-101—shines in space. These red-glowing H II regions are vast masses of gas, breeding grounds for new stars. They are the result of young, energetic stars that virtually "bombard" the nebula with UV radiation. The hydrogen atoms lose their electrons and then recapture them—a process that also releases the characteristic reddish light of this emission nebula, or rather, was released, since this light began its journey to us 6,000 years ago.

CHEVROLET BEL AIR - 1957

=================================================

⧨⧩ voir ci-dessous ⧨⧩

🇬🇧 The Chevrolet Bel Air is a car manufactured by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand.

It was produced from 1950 to 1981 in seven different generations. The last model was sold only in Canada. Initially, from 1950 to 1952, only the two-door Hardtops in the Chevrolet range were designated by the Bel Air name, unlike the StyleLine and FleetLine models for the rest of the range. From 1953, the name was also used for other body styles. Bel Air continued with various other trim level designations until US production ceased in 1975. The Bel Air terminology continued to be used in Canada for its domestic market until 1981.

The name Bel Air comes from an upmarket neighbourhood in Los Angeles1.

A Bel Air concept car was presented at the 2002 North American International Auto Show, but was never marketed. ⧨⧩ see below ⧨⧩

Command finally accepted my request for heavy armour, blasted stock stuff couldn’t take more than a few shots from a blaster, which isn’t exactly good for charging into enemy lines with a fifty-pound hammer.

We hot-dropped into a small Saleucami village which was in the process of being overrun by Trandoshan forces. Nestor and I snuck around behind their lines and hit them where they least expected it, myself quite literally. My hammer hit him square in the back of the head, and needless to say, he didn’t have a head after that.

After our quick skirmish with the token force left behind to guard their rear, I came across a wounded Trandoshan, and woke him up with a tap of my hammer.

“Talk.”

“Never!”

“Fine, I’ll ask nicely this time.”

I pressed my hammer against his throat.

“Where are the blasted captives?”

The Trandoshan spoke quickly, and Nestor jotted it all down on his datapad.

“And… I’ve sent it to Command. We’re good.”

I looked back at the Trandoshan, who looked back up at me.

“Please,” he begged, “let me die with a weapon in my hand, so I can serve the Scorekeeper in the afterlife!”

I kicked his weapon further away from him, and raised my hammer above my head. I brought it down on his head with all my might.

“Oof, he’s not regenerating that.”

Kriffing right, Nestor.”

Pretty proud of my walls on this one, not going to lie. I think I might've found something I'm good at ;D

Bologna has the UNESCO designation for its porticos but Padova has a good share of them too.

This portico at Via Umberto I, 66 is on The Palace of Capodilista (Palazzo degli Emo Capodilista).

The palace building is an example of medieval residential architecture and it is one of the largest palaces in Padua.

The palace was built at the beginning of the thirteenth century around an already existing defensive tower.

Originally the palace opened with six slender 'giant' Paduan-style porticoes resting on pillars with a stone base.

The palace was expanded in the following centuries finally reaching 13 portico arches. it was in the second half of the eighteenth century the current configuration represents.

Vintage lens built around 1938.

The optics of this sample was unfortunately completely rotten. Lot of scratches, cloudy and balsam separation. So, the optical quality was terrible. Therefore I decided to replace the damaged optical elements with coated elements of a post war FED-10 f:3.5/50mm. This turned out to be quite complicated, as the thread diameters of the optical groups of the pre and postwar versions are not the same. Thus, I had to take all the rotten glass elements out of their brass fittings and put the new glass elements into the original fitting. Problem: The glass elements are not fixed into the fitting by a counter screw, but the brass rim is bended over the edge of the glass! So I had to bend the rim carefully out again with a cutter blade until the glass would pop out. Then put the new glass in and bend the rim over the glass again! Fortunately, the glass elements had still the same diameters! I've never done this before but it worked :-)

Unfortunately I accidentally polished the front engraving partially off in an attempt to restore the chrome finish. Since the partial engraving looked bad, I decided to remove the engraving completely and regalvanize it.

Maybe I find a way to replicate the the engraving later. Maybe a jeweler ca do this.. :-(

For the time being I galvanized it with platinum, because I don't have a suitable power supply for chrome plating.

Patrick Wilson, 1861 (dated). Former church and hall, now Clinic. Gothic church with octagonal entrance tower.

Ecclesiastical building, no longer in use as such. The panel above the door reads 'Erected and endowed from funds bequeathed by William Whyte Edinburgh MDCCCLXI.' The Petitioners to the Dean of Guild were the Trustees of the late William Whyte, bookseller in Edinburgh. Set back from the road between 2 advanced properties, creating a shallow forecourt. Dean of Guild drawings show 2 shops in the flanking wings, and a bakehouse and oven to the rear. The tower may make reference to that at St John's Constitution Street, Leith, by David Rhind (1843), although the Dean of Guild drawings show that it was intended to have a small spire.

“Copy that command, disposing the bodies as we speak. Ajax out.”

I looked down at Nestor, who was dumping the Trandoshan’s body into the stream.

“Blast, Ajax, you really did a number on that Trando’s head.”

Kriffing right, Nestor,” I said, spinning my hammer.

Dio started striding through the stream.

“Looks like we’re about two clicks out. Command said there should be minimal resistance around the shield generator. I guess the reptiles aren’t expecting us.”

Nestor jumped into the river and began to make his crossing.

“Let’s keep it that way, Dio. Heads up, eyes sharp. If we make contact, keep it quiet boys.”

Time to make these cold-blooded cowards pay.

Not my best, not my worst :P

Happy #starwarsday !

This build was originally started for TJ the Brickwright. I couldn’t finish it in time. But since picking it back up It’s taken me a while to figure out the construction of the nose. I really wanted to get that sharp bladed edge for the nose.

It was the last piston-engined helicopter to be operated by the United States Marine Corps, having been replaced by turbine-powered types such as the UH-1 Huey and CH-46 Sea Knight. A total of 2,108 H-34s were manufactured between 1953 and 1970

"It didn't take long for Jagserd Merad and his Zygerrian forces to appear, the presence of his approaching convoy given away by the massive cloud of dust left in its wake. Our objective was simple, remove Merad from the field and further isolate Wat Tambor, but accomplishing this was easier said than done. Merad a Zygerrian captain, had been waging a brutal fighting withdrawal since the complete collapse Separatist forces outside of the capital several rotations ago. As a result of his campaign Merad had taken a large number of Twi'lek civilians hostage and was taking them with him to Lessu. Their presence in Merad's convoy meant that we couldn't just strike it from the air, or drop the cliff ontop of them as they traversed the narrow canyon road. Naturally the Jedi Generals in charge of the Ryloth Campaign thought that if anyone could pull this off the 253rd could. After linking up with scouts from the local Twi'lek resistance we established an ambush site along a sharp bend in the road, the plan was simple use EMP weapons and Sniper fire from above to box in the convoy while I lead Vornskr in a frontal assualt . Merad's convoy would be trapped between a towering wall of rock and a steep drop into the void with no where to go and now way to maneuver. If everything went according to plan Vornskr would be able to close with and disable each speeder in the convoy one at a time, his heavy weapons useless as any explosion would risk dropping the convoy into the abyss bellow. As the convoy began to close with us blaster fire rang out from above disabling the lead speeder and causing the convoy to grind to a halt, I gave the signal and lead my forward rushing into the surprised Zygerrian soldiers. With no way to support each other the Zygerrian speeders and tanks were captured or destroyed one by one, the Twi'leks freed and the Zygerrians killed or taken prisoner. Ultimately the Zygerrians didn't put up much of a fight, the surprise and ferocity of our assualt proving to be too much for the slavers, who until now had seen little combat against Republic forces without droid support. Now all we had to do was identify Merad and let command know that our mission was a success."

Was going for a BTR-ZD look for the Landspeeder, and honestly it was kinda fun to build a sizable vehicle, though I'm not sure how well I would have faired if it wasn't a speeder and required wheels or tracks. I have a castle tower in the works and I'm hoping to get that wrapped up and posted before the new year, so until then thanks for stopping by and have a good one!

“Execute Order 66.”

“Good soldiers follow orders…”

With its usual blazing heat and minimal recoil, my DC-15 blaster rifle lit up the sky, as the bolt sizzled toward Jedi traitor Slaya Kit. With immediate force instinct, she sent the bolt away from its intended trajectory, crashing into one of the forest’s many nearby trees. A second salvo managed to hit her, as her force powers and main focus were now solely on keeping the crashing tree from reducing her to a mere puddle of blood and organs. The third salvo was her end, as bolts came crashing at her torso, shoulders and head.

The Space Shuttle Enterprise (NASA Orbiter Vehicle Designation: OV-101) was the first Space Shuttle orbiter. It was built for NASA as part of the Space Shuttle program to perform test flights in the atmosphere. It was constructed without engines or a functional heat shield, and was therefore not capable of spaceflight. On September 17, 1976 the first full scale prototype was completed.

In the upper left corner:

The Manned Maneuvering Unit (MMU) is an astronaut propulsion unit that was used by NASA on three Space Shuttle missions in 1984.

The MMU allowed the astronauts to perform untethered EVA spacewalks at a distance from the shuttle. The MMU was used in practice to retrieve a pair of faulty communications satellites, Westar VI and Palapa B2. Following the third mission the unit was retired from use. A smaller successor, the Simplified Aid for EVA Rescue (SAFER), was first flown in 1994, and is intended for emergency use only.

The unit featured redundancy to protect against failure of individual systems. It was designed to fit over the life-support system backpack of the Space Shuttle Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU). When carried into space, the MMU was stowed in a support station attached to the wall of the payload bay near the airlock hatch. Two MMUs were carried on a mission, with the second unit mounted across from the first on the opposite payload bay wall. The MMU controller arms were folded for storage. When an astronaut backed into the unit and snapped the life-support system into place, the arms were unfolded.

To adapt to astronauts with different arm lengths, controller arms could be adjusted over a range of approximately 13 centimetres. The MMU was small enough to be maneuvered with ease around and within complex structures. With a full propellant load, its mass was 148 kilograms (326 pounds).

Gaseous nitrogen was used as the propellant for the MMU. Two aluminium tanks with Kevlar wrappings contained 5.9 kilograms of nitrogen each, enough propellant for a six-hour EVA depending on the amount of maneuvering done. Typical MMU delta-v (velocity change) capability was about 80 feet per second (25 m/s).

There were 24 nozzle thrusters placed at different locations on the MMU. To operate the propulsion system, the astronaut used his fingertips to manipulate hand controllers at the ends of the MMU's two arms. The right controller produced rotational acceleration for roll, pitch, and yaw. The left controller produced translational acceleration for moving forward-back, up-down, and left-right. Coordination of the two controllers produced intricate movements in the unit. Once a desired orientation was achieved, the astronaut could engage an automatic attitude-hold function that maintained the inertial attitude of the unit in flight. This freed both hands for work.

Happy Throwvember, this time it's the last! As mentioned prior, this one and the previous two were inspired by MSEP's really cool Slizer revamps. This one was a bit harder to pull off due to lacking a ton of different parts in new purple and because I ended up using a lot of non-standard joints to get the shaping I wanted, but I'm moderately happy with the result, even though it's a bit less sturdy than the previous two. Figuring out what sticker to use for the face plate was rough, and I'm still not sure I'm satisfied with it, but the arachnid imagery it invokes with the eyes works okay.

I thought this was pretty funny.
