A buddy of mine came up with this concept for a summer job to do with some friends, so they asked me to come up with a flyer design, and this is what I ended up with.
Organic imagery handpainted on walnut panels. Coated with a UV gloss finish to protect and deepen both the color and wood grain. Each panel, due to an internal frame, floats off the wall an extra .75”. Painted image extends over the sides and exposed wood banding on the edges adds a third design element.
This is one of those projects where you really wish you needed to go visit the client to make sure everyone is “on the same page.” Foliage Design is Trinidad and Tobago’s finest plant rental, garden maintenance and landscape design company. And they needed a new identity and website to prove it.
Well, we didn’t get to visit those beautiful islands but we did get to see some amazing landscape and garden work. It was our job to wrap it in a great looking, easy to use website. In talking to Foliage, we learned about their rich history there as well as their estate that their father had taken care of. The estate evoked images of Italian architecture combined with the lush tropical plants of the area, and we all decided that we should use that as a starting point for the design.
The result? A design that looks quite a bit different from our other work. And a color scheme that’s bold and modern with a hint of the traditional.
Of course, ExpressionEngine is powering the backend, allowing the client to publish new projects and plant rentals as well as providing lots of relationships between the two. Also included is an intelligent contact form on just about every page that changes budget based on the section you’re looking at.
