A parallèle, dans une société de la fabrication en série, l’apparition de lieux de production collaboratifs applés FabLab, équipés de d’outils de production nouvelle génération, démocratisent la fabrication d’objets. Dans ce contexte de grande évolution des pratiques quelles traces laisserons nous dans 2000 ans ? Quels messages enverrons aux archéologues et historiens du futur ? Que restera-t-il de nos objets quotidiens ?
Pour aborder ces questions, Design The Future Now propose un stage à destination d’un groupe d’adolescents (à partir de 11 ans), intitulé Archéologies du Futur ainsi que 2 ateliers "bac à sable" d'initiation aux pratiques fablab à destination du grand public.
Le projet Archéologies du Futur, pose la question des usages de nos objets quotidiens et de leur évolution au fil du temps. Il interroge notre lien aux objets, à leur consommation, aux évolutions au fil des modes. Il questionne également notre lien aux vestiges du passé et ce que ceux-ci disent de notre société, de notre rapport au monde et aux autres.

Poster designed for Big Dipper Film Company to promote their upcoming trilogy of short films; 'Blood', 'Sweat' and 'Tears.'
It was meant to be a pattern of 4 zebras. I batiked the zebras and dyed the cloth a warm madder dye. Then I hesitated. I decided it would be easier to block print the stripes and hair on. Unfortunately, the hair on the end of the tail didn't fall where it should on every one. Therefore, the look like they are relieving themselves. I can't send this one in.

This shows an early longboat, note how the boards are strictly horizontal not curved to give a prow.
We are not sure how many people this would carry, there are rowlock points for 28 oars but this does not mean that was the number of people it carried. Also the amount of cargo would have some bearing on whether passengers would or could be carried.
The notes in Short History says this is one of two boats found at Nydam south Jutland in 1863 and is earlier Iron Age, and is clinch built, but tis design was still in use in the early invasions by the Anglo-Saxons, and would be drawn up out of the water in winter.
This one was strictly powered by oars as there is no footing for a mast, but it is thought that masts were starting to be used in the 5th to 6th centuries.

The brown I used for the body seems to be a little patchy, I think I need to use heavier paper to get a nice flat colour with the watercolour paints.
Bespoke folders for IT company, Sanderson. The folder design fits with the corporate style and branding, also developed by RONIN.
We took the train into London from Windsor to Paddington and walked the short distance to the Marlborough Gate of Kensington Gardens. There we found the Italian Pump Room Gardens, where the yellow water irises were at their peak, and headed southwest past the Peter Pan Statue, Henry Moore's "The Arch" sculpture, Simon Gudgeon's elegant bronze "Isis" and the Lady Diana Fountain. We stopped at the recently re-gilded Albert Memorial, then followed the Flower Walk out of the park and down Kensington High Street to Holland Park, where we discovered the Dutch Garden with its yellow tulips, blue and yellow irises, and the colorful 1995 mural by Mao Wen Biao, which recreates the Holland House garden parties of the 1870's.
After resting in the park's tranquil Kyoto Japanese Garden, we had a light lunch in the excellent Parabola Restaurant inside the new Design Museum. We then immersed ourselves for a couple of hours in the museum's permanent collection - "Designer, Maker, User". After scones and tea at Caffe Concerto Kensington, we took the Underground to St. James Park with its beautiful late afternoon light, went around the lake, over the Blue Bridge, through Westminster, and along the Thames to the Tate Britain where we had reserved evening tickets for the amazing retrospective of David Hockney's 60 year career (no photographs were allowed inside the special exhibition.)
