A Pier 1 Imports cabinet desk and a mirrored shelving unit from JCPenney (pictured left) make the girly bedroom feel like a suite.

Designed by Jean Jucien Ongraro, 1961.

This is the original car design from the Suitcase set ... I bought the suitcase back then and gave the car away if I'm not mistaken. I re-bought the base during lockdown this year and rebuilt this...

Frédéric Teschner design at the International Poster and Graphic Design Festival of Chaumont 2008. Thanks to nick the quick's information and I apologize for giving out wrong information.

This is not a Majid Abbasi design as I had previously stated. I wonder how my source got this confused? I don't think that it was me, well, maybe??? I thank nick the quick for correcting me on my mistake and adding so much information on this graphic.

I copied this from a slide that I used in one of my lectures on simplicity, symmetric or asymmetric tension, and letterform (more line). I did not have any information written on it but as DavidMcFarline and alphanumeric pointed out, it was designed by Maria Vieira 1957. I thought someone out there in Flickrland would know. Thanks everyone!

Opening up my student's minds to see in new ways was sometimes a difficult project. (At times i felt as if I needed a hammer and crowbar.) So I would start out with something so simple that it could not be broken down any further. Line and change of direction of line, or even a dot......

The latest Design Insights for my years-long project to build the entirety of Imperial Rome are now posted on my Patreon page! These insights cover the VELABRUM; the region of Ancient Rome which sat at a crossroads between the Capitoline and Palatine Hills.

Like the Arch of Janus depicted in the sneak peek rendering, this post marks a turning point in the progression of this project which I first announced on the Kalends of January. It has taken some time to lift off the ground, but the steadfast support of all my patrons has helped me reach a point where the design updates will now be coming fast & furious over the next several weeks of intense design efforts.

I very much still need your support in making this project a reality! It's no stretch to say that this is my most comprehensive - and exciting - project to date. It takes a village to realize any ambitious undertaking, but this is certainly not without its rewards. I encourage you to visit my Patreon page and consider contributing. In exchange, patrons will be the first to see all the newly designed areas, with exclusive perks and further insights / access for the higher tiers.

To put it another way, the soldiers are being mustered, the generals have made their offerings at the Temple of Mars Ultor, and the legions are now marching toward the frontier for the long campaign season ahead! Onward - and festina lente!

Poster designed by Inkahoots 2002, a Brisbane community access screenprinting collective. From Graphic Design for the 21st Century by Charlotte & Peter Fiell.

I would like to quote Incahoots today, July 22, my eightieth birthday.

"Like the child that closes its eyes and imagines it can't be seen, design now seems willfully blinded to the anti-human consequences of consumer capitalism. We release rushing torrents of words, images and sounds that often say nothing at all, and at worst deceive and degrade our humanity. We also create electric works with the potential to explore new ways of knowing ourselves. Inkahoots believes our visual language is a site for the organization of social power. We can close our eyes and pretend the world isn't there, or we can imagine a better world."

I don't really know where the shoreline for Trillium Lake is at this location, but my guess is that the trees don't actually grow *in* the lake. :-) In any case this little Spruce is probably pretty close. These trees are absolutely designed to shed snow.

I had left my pack and some of my gear over a few yards to my left here. I took a round-about way to get over here in order not to mess up the snow for other compositions. A Stellar's Jay had been noisily chattering at me at the other spot and I could envision him tearing my pack apart looking for food. Or he could steal a glove, just to be mean. I guess the good news was that he had left by the time I got back over there. No harm done.

One of the nice things about yesterday is that the conditions were constantly changing. So every shot had something a little different going on.

Tea bags made!

Monday’s tea

When I woke up this morning, I decided to surprise my mum with a special cup of tea. My name is Qoo Rabbit.

Tuesday’s tea

I tiptoed into the garden and picked some farfigberry flowers. Those are her favorite, especially the pink ones.

Wednesday’s tea

Then I put the kettle on the stove and climbed onto a loaf of bread so I could reach the fancy teacups.

Thursday’s tea

Mum was still asleep when the kettle whistled. When I added the tea leaves, they smelled like honeysuckle gumdrops!

Friday’s tea

I took the cup and saucer upstairs. But on the top step, I tripped over my little brother’s toy gun.

Saturday’s tea

The tea spilled everywhere. So I cried. Mum looked down and said, “Dear Qoo, don’t you know the glass is half full?”

Sunday’s tea

I said, “But there isn’t one drop left in that teacup!” She just smiled and made me butterscotch pancakes.

It's difficult to see what I've done here, I've taken a piece of rolled felt and attached a bead a either end and then tied it to the longer strip of thicker rolled felt that acts as the base for this piece...whew!!
