Fuji X-E2 plus Helios 44M-7 wide-open. All of the pre-WWII houses in my village have (or originally had) fireplaces. Many new homes too. To reduce the spiralling costs for gas and electricity, a lot of us get our wood burners working again. "The market", of course, has its own ideas when it comes to the price of firewood. It is not cheap at the moment and as long as you don't have your own supplies, burning wood will not save you any money. Mind you, there is always room for creative procurement. A neighbour of mine is collecting old wooden palettes...
I was surprised this afternoon by a delivery of bakery treats from a good friend! Holy smokes, were they ever tasty. Thank you so much, Kerry!

WPA mural in the Goodland, Kansas, post office. Painted by Kenneth Miller Adams, it was installed in the then-new building in 1937. I boosted the color a little to see what it might have looked like 80 years ago. Based on the condition of the ceiling, I don't think it's being conserved. (Neither, apparently, is rural free delivery.)

There were plenty of eastbounds on this evening and not a lot of westbounds to come by. As another eastbound clears the plant at Division Street, CPKC resumes shoving into the UP Belt Yard to make their delivery. It was one of those unfortunately rare evenings this summer where there was plenty of light nearly to sundown proper.

On a lazy Sunday mid-afternoon just after a light rain, two teenage boys, using a rectangular shaped four-wheeled push cart, fetch several 5-gallon plastic containers filled with potable water for delivery to certain households in their neighborhood.
They most likely do the task in order to ear some money for their school allowance. Classes in all public and private schools in the Philippines, in all levels, for schoolyear 2025-2026 have started two weeks ago.
Captured at a village in Subic, Zambales, in the aforesaid country. .
Outside of winter, there are weekly deliveries of cement to the storage facility at Gdańsk Osowa. The trains have to take a very hard route with most of it being a heavy uphill run almost from sea level up to the hills in the western part of Gdańsk.
Because of how difficult those deliveries turned out to be, throughout the past years 5 carriers have served the facility (Lotos, PKPC, CTL, Cargoway and now Olavion). Most of the times the 40 wagon long trains are split into multiple parts.
The train on picture was split into 8 parts with 5 wagons per part. One of them was numbered TMS 554052 Gdynia Port GT 1-33 - Gdańsk Osowa Grupa Ożarów and I photographed it on 15.06.2025 as it was departing from Gdynia Wielki Kack towards Gdańsk Osowa. The track which the train was using at that time doesn't exist anymore as the line is undergoing modernisation works.
