Impressionist large daisy flower

Shot last December while at Arches National Park - I was experimenting with using the arch to "hide" the bright afternoon sun about an hour and half before sundown.

I'm really into vintage-y tones lately and these pinks and delicate colors look so nice with a little warmth- reminds me of the sun.

As usual... View On Black ^.^

As we headed toward Dole, a light snow blanketed us, softening the harsh landscape.

Highlight of our Southwest geology tour, the sunset at Delicate Arch is worth the wait.

The fact that you will be joined by a crowd turns the arch into a kind of natural shrine. A truly centering and uplifting experience.

the natural beauty of the face is not viewed, but percieved from the curves of the mouth, flow of the hair and all that emanates sensuality.

Delicate Arch, Arches NP

Delicate Arch in Arches National Park in Southern Utah. This is a different angle then usually seen. It is of the backside of the arch on a very steep incline. This is one of my first HDR attempts.

Delicate Arch overlooks the Cache Valley and dwarfs the humans who gather around it.

I've made this hike several times and it is a bit of an uphill slog to get here. But I've passed eighty year-old guys and families. There are always families in Utah.

In the background are the La Sal mountains, about twenty five miles away.

Delicate Arch is a 52-foot-tall freestanding natural arch located in Arches National Park, near Moab in Grand County, Utah, United States.

The arch is the most widely recognized landmark in Arches National Park and is depicted on Utah license plates and a postage stamp commemorating Utah's centennial anniversary of admission to the Union in 1996.

The Olympic torch relay for the 2002 Winter Olympics passed through the arch.

it's a long hike to get to the best vantage points to photograph it.

I reworked my original photo of the Delicate Arch. I used LAB color mode and tried to open up the shadows a little. The colors really become intense as you near sundown. This is the arch that is seen on Utah's license plates.

Taken in 2007. I love how the flower looks as if it rose just above everything else.

Well, I decided to go back through the almost 8,000 photos I have taken with my 60D since purchasing it on June 28th and find some classics from the early days of shooting with it.

Here is the 59th photo I took with the 60D, cropped a bit and selective colourized but otherwise straight off the camera!

Hope you all like it!

I discovered at work today that what I thought was 3 days weekend is actually a 4 day weekend, thanks to a civic holiday on Monday, so I am even MORE excited than I was!

Enjoy your upcoming weekend, all my dear flickr friends!

Well, I guess I'll be in the market for a new cherry tree this spring.

I'm rather sad to report that my pretty weeping cherry tree on the front yard is a-goner. 8-((

I noticed last spring that it didn't bloom as brilliantly as usual, and it hardly got any leaves during the summer. On closer examination I realized that it seemed to have picked up some kind of borer bug that attacked it at the base and had basically killed it. 8-(((

This spring we'll take it down and I'll replace it with something new.
