This is a photograph of something that's been called a "dream drop". It's a piece of low-grade crystal cut, shaped, and polished to look like a drop of liquid. Beautiful to look at with light shining through, and very breakable, or delicate.
After I hiked all day around Arches National Park, I decided to capture the sunset by Delicate Arch. It wasn't what I expected, but the experience still was nice.
I started my hike into the arch at 7 a.m. and there was plenty of parking. People who were in for the sunrise were just starting to return.
When I got to the arch, there were only about a dozen or so people there and they were all courteous enough to approach the arch, get their pic taken and then leave it so that we could get pics of the arch by itself.

The classic shot of Delicate Arch at sunset. There are better arches in Arches National Park but for a sunset this is pretty special. Lots of cloud near the horizon meant all us photographers were setup with our tripods waiting in silence. When the sun broke through I couldnt believe how many people shouted at all the tourists under the arch to get out of the way. They really shouted alot to get them to move. Personally I wouldnt have said a thing but it did help!

Thank you all for visits, comments and suggestions. Have a wonderful week ahead every one!
Day two of my road trip across Utah- Took an evening hike up to Delicate Arch. Love love love this place! One of the more beautiful spots on the planet that I've been to. I like that there is a kid in the middle of the arch, as it gives more of a sense of the immense size of the arch. I'm so proud of myself for making it up there and then walking around the ridge to touch the arch as I'm terrified of heights!
Arches National Park, Utah.
By far the most famous attraction in Arches National Park is Delicate Arch, its more or less symmetrical shape, and 18m freestanding formation making it a symbol of both the State of Utah and the American Southwest in general. Originally called "the Chaps" and "the Schoolmarm's Bloomers" by local cowboys, it was not officially discovered and given its current name until the 1933 Arches National Monument Scientific Expedition. Ironically it was not even included in park boundaries when Arches National Monument was first established by Pres Herbert Hoover in 1929. It was added when the monument was enlarged in 1938. In 2002 the Olympic Torch Relay passed through the arch.
Everyone (myself included) stops for photos under the arch. Here you can see just how large the arch actually is.

Delicate Arch in Arches National Park in Utah at sunset. It's about an hour hike to get to this point.
Much too cold even for me to venture out today. Here are some photos of Freesia sitting on one of my windowsills with the snow outside making the perfect backdrop!
