this is my mom's friend. she flew in from korea last week (which is why we went to indy).
i took this picture of her hands because i really just liked the crop. upon reviewing the photo, i noticed how her clothes made little bokeh circles. niiice.
we ate at P.F. Chang's while in Indy. TOO EXPENSIVE. Not the most amazing food.
edit: grr. it makes better bokeh if it's larger. this small version on flickr looks like it doesn't even have much bokeh.
The Delicate Arch Trail was one extreme hike. 3 miles roundtrip, uphill pretty much the whole way, in 104°F weather. And I was naive enough not to bring water. But the view of this beautiful icon was definitely worth all the trouble.

Delicate Arch with overlying faulted Moab member of the Entrada sandstone and relay ramp. More recent work from the San Rafael Swell area suggests that the Moab member is equivalent to the Carmel formation
ODC-Delicate
This is the time of year when my African Violet blooms. The blossoms are very delicate and damage easily.
Thanks Everyone, I love the comments/faves you leave me. I do appreciate them all!

Taken at a friend's house where many butterflies had landed and were fluttering about!

A view we've all seen before, but it was so much fun to try it myself!
Taken at sunset using a grad nd filter to bring out the details in the sky.
This photo was taken 10 minutes before the accompanying sunset photo on Razor Hill. A seedpod’s delicate structure is revealed by backlit illumination from the setting sun. The prairie behind the seedpod was already in shadows providing convenient contrast. Best viewed in the larger size.
A straight shot , only a bit of a crop . Sorry no id on the flower or the dainty butterfly ,but open to suggestions .
September 19, 2024 - Our next stop at Arches National Park was to the iconic Delicate Arch. It required a vigorous hike since we parked at the Lower Delicate Arch Viewpoint. Tara, Nancy, Mike and I were the only people from our group that decided to take the hike.

Landscape picture of Delicate Arch in the Arches National Park. Unfortunately there had been a sand storm and this resulted in a sandy sky. Normally you would expect a blue sky.
A person needs to be included to see the scale of the arch.

A very strenuous hike of about 75 minutes (close to 4 miles round trip) along the mountains of Arches National Park in Utah leads you to this location... Your legs get sore by the time you reach here but its all worth for the view you get to see !! The red rock glows perfectly in the setting sun...!!
As delicate as a single petal finally landing upon the earth after all these twists and turns, Hinako laid her pose.
Scenes from a trip I took to Arches National Park in Moab, Utah, USA in July, 2005. The reddish sandstone & the weathered shapes are truly beautiful! The park is said to contain "the world's largest concentration of natural stone arches." (http://www.utah.com/nationalparks/arches.htm). I certainly had fun seeing them! At the time, before I had learned to crop photos & balance them, I thought none of my shots were any good. I am now putting up a few that I think are worth seeing. This photo gives some perspective on the size & location of Delicate Arch. It is located about a third of the way from the left edge of the photo; you can see the sky through it. The hike to get to it is prohibitively difficult, particularly with Utah's summer temperatures. There is no shade along the way at all; it is completely on the rock face. We opted to take a lesser hike across the rock face from the overlook. Even so, it was well worth seeing!
Geometrical Forms
Before beginning the actual sighting process, do a delicate gesture drawing based in what you see. This "breaks the ice" of a blank paper and gives a sense of how the object being referred to will occupy the paper surface.
