Learning so many things with each photo i take within this style of photography and all i can say is i am loving the journey.
Shots from Arches Park in Utah. The arch at the top of the ridge (delicate arch) is the most renowned of the parks arches. This shot was taken from about 1 mile away on the other side of the canyon.
Arches national park Utah. I first took snaps of this arch more than 20 years ago. Nobody was anywhere near the arch. Now people queue to pose, although for this shot no one was in the arch and all the vanished people were sat in the foreground.
On the way back home after my summer in Alaska, I stopped at Arches National Park. When I visit an iconic place like Arches, I try my best to get some kind of unique take on a subject that's been photographed a million times already. In this case, I spotted a vigorous, billowing thunderstom to the north of Delicate Arch. I rushed up the trail to get a clear view of the arch with the clouds behind it. I only got three or four shots before the most dramatic clouds moved off to the east.
If you haven't been there, you can get a sense of the scale from the two tourists standing to the left of the arch (better visible in large size). This is my personal favorite of the B&W images in this series.

Those gorgeous and delicate yellow centered lavender blossoms were blooming over red rocks in one of my neighbors front yard flower gardens.
With the beautiful early evening sunlight hitting them (I was on my way home from work), they were wonderfully illuminated!
I finally got around to editing one of my Arches photos. This one is quite late mainly because conditions at the time of my visit to arches weren't too spectacular and I didn't know the best approach to processing the images. Finally I've got around to finding the right image and getting the processing done.
Delicate Arch
Arches National Park, Moab, Utah
Let’s do that magical little lift that brings so much joy. Not too rude though; this is a delicate task that can easily turn tasteless. Key is to go slow, act with grace and keep it elegant. Sweet subtle seduction, all in good taste. That’s the way I like it and I hope you like my style too.
A beautiful photo that shows how delicate life actually is. At any time a storm could wash this beautiful life away.
My friend Rebecca needs some cheering up. The best way I know how is with fungi images. :^)
I'm not sure what mushrooms these are, so help with ID is more than welcome. They were very small at only a couple of cm tall. They looked very delicate also if that helps with ID.
I hope everyone enjoys this image! :^)
As usual, photos are a dish best served large and on black!
What a crowded place!
I suppose if we were up at the crack of dawn, we might have had it to ourselves. It's particularly surprising how crowded it was given that it's a 1.5 mile hike (I think each way... can't remember).
Regardless, given its popularity, I should have known.
The light was rather blah on that day, and the clouds were casting a funny color to the light.
I didn't really shoot much suitable for monochrome on this trip, so I figured I'd convert this one to save myself the trouble with getting the colors right... plus, I think it just looks stunning in B&W!
"It is sweet to dance to violins
When love and life are fair:
To dance to flutes, to dance to lutes
Is delicate and rare:
But it is not sweet with nimble feet
To dance upon the air!"

Took this awhile ago but wasn't proud of it so never posted it, but I re-edited it and I like it a little better now. Since I haven't been able to really do much from still being sick (Yeah, I know, it's friggen ridiculous, nothing seems to be working short of surgery but I'm leaving that as an absolute last resort) I decided to pick back up photography... I took a break for a while, but that hiatus was way too long. It's funny because every time I get really sick, I always end up wanting to create and get very inspired. I don't know if it's because I have so much time on my hands or what... But anyway, I forgot how much I really simply love to create. I sketched out all new concepts in my photo journal and have some really great photos planned. Yesterday I had a photo day with my cousins and brother in law and I got so many amazing shoots done. I seriously can't wait to upload them!

Delicate like words
Delicate how time
So delicately runs
Then delicately dies
Delicate how eyes
So delicately breathe
Delicate like you my dear
Delicate like me my love
Delicate like you and
Delicate like me and
Delicate like
Delicate like you and me

These looked so delicate, pure, shy and elegant with their little flirty beauty marks.
Thanks for your visit and kind remarks.
P.S. I don't know their name, any help??!!!
Thank you champbass2: These are Snow Drops
Alpenglow on Delicate Arch in Arches National Park. We missed the actual sunset and got a lot of smug looks from the other tripod bearors who proceeded to leave...but the real color came about 20 minutes later as we were kicking ourselves for missing sunset, and getting ready to go. The good light crept up on us and everything began to glow, and for 5 minutes, give or take, we had spectacular color. It's about a mile walk back down the slickrock to your vehicle, and a bit hairy in January. My brother went over the side on the icy shelf leading down the backside of this bowl, and luckily managed to catch himself before a drop of a good 20 feet or so that might have been disastrous. The cold didn't bother us much, as our adrenalin by that point was running pretty high.
One from the archives...I took some shots last evening of the Bethlehem Stars (they just started blooming) but didn't transfer them yet. This is pretty cliche....close up of a flower with no purpose in the composition and some textures to make it more interesting. HCS!
Arches National Park is a true gem. On my quest to visit all 59 National Parks in the United States I hope that any of the other parks I come across are half as splendid as Arches. Yes, I used the word splendid. I notice that photographers really tend to gravitate towards icons that are already named, and that’s typically what I end up looking for as well. The trails are usually well-versed and the hikes are usually relatively short. Usually is the key word. The hike to Delicate Arch was anything but short, and I know there are other trails that are much longer in Arches… (I really wanted my wife to write her summary of the hike and trail to Delicate Arch because she really despised the hell out of it. But, I suppose I can have her write that up later with some of the photos that she took there instead.)
I’d like to start off by saying that the 1.1 mile hike to Delicate Arch is worth it. Bring Water. One liter for each person. Even in the evening when things cool down the hike can be quite exhausting. The first quarter mile of the trail head is well defined and quite calm. After that; good luck. They say that the vertical increase is 481 feet. I have no idea who measured that, but thank you. It honestly feels like 1,000 feet. The path starts to become more of an open race to the top once you meet the slick rock. At this point you are following cairns. Cairns are rocks piled on top of rocks that sort of lead you to the next set of cairns. I’m sure you may have seen them and wondered what they were doing or what the purpose of said rock formations meant. You’ll think of me next time you see one. I know it.
After you reach the top of the slickrock it levels off a little bit. Then you reach the final pass. It’s a cliff hanger. Seriously. It’s a five foot wide walkway for about 100 feet to the viewing area of Delicate Arch. Once you’ve made the turn on the five foot wide path you’ve made it to Delicate Arch. Congratulations, Indy.
This arch is massive. Honestly a lot of photos including mine probably don’t showcase the massiveness of this arch. The interesting things I noticed while at Delicate were that people are crazy about taking their photo underneath the Arch. They can’t get enough of it. It was like collecting POGS all over again. The other thing is that the viewing area at Delicate is in a bowl shaped rock. This means that if you leave items unattended they will slide down the rock into the desert pit. It’s like the Sarlacc from Return of the Jedi. If I can relate it to Star Wars I will. Everything you see on TV usually does anyways.
