What a spiritual experience! Right after taking these I went for a different viewpoint while Donna stayed here. On the hike down after the moon came up we were talking about it and both had come to the same conclusion. There is a definite vibe and sound at Delicate at sunset. We both compared it to Piazza Publico in Siena, Italy. Both are similar in the fact that there is no warning about what is going to happen. All of a sudden you come around a corner from the back side and you are there. (See two photos down.) Then the acoustics are unique. Here the cirque in front of, and rocks behind the crowd give it an auditorium feel. Then the crowd at the very moment we got there had an awed murmur sound going. Everyone talking because it was so interesting/cool/spiritual. But in a reverent way. Minutes later the sun was gone, and the crowd got noisier and partially disbanded, but the flavor lingered.

Delicate arch . Arches national park. After a dark gloomy day all day long. I drove up to the highest part of the park to see the horizon. It was a chance that the sun would come out so I hiked up and waited.

Yes, the nights in the middle of Utah, like in Arches NP are really dark. This is a single shot, I only adjusted graduation and colors a little bit.

These roses were so pretty and delicate my aim was to create a final image that would illustrate how I percieved them. I've wanted to use the Orton Effect for some time and this is my first attempt. I kept the Orton Effect to a minimum though because I did not want to lose too much detail.

While at Arches National Park near Moab, Utah, we hiked to Delicate Arch. The views were amazing overlooking the landscape. Afterwards we drove to the lookout on the other side of Delicate Arch and hiked to the upper viewpoint. Wow! Amazing how far down over the edge!

"We might kiss when we are alone

When nobody's watching

We might take it home

We might make out when nobody's there

It's not that we're scared

It's just that it's delicate

So why'd you fill my sorrows

With the words you've borrowed

From the only place you've known

And why'd you sing aleluya

If it means nothing to you

Why'd you sing with me at all?

We might live like never before

When there's nothing to give

Well how can we ask for more

We might make love in some sacred place

The look on your face is delicate

So why'd you fill my sorrow

With the words you've borrowed

From the only place that you've known

And why'd you sing aleluya

If it means nothing to you

Why'd you sing with me at all?

And why'd you fill my sorrows

With the words you've borrowed

From the only place that you've known

Why'd you sing Hallelujah

Never means nothing to you

Why'd you sing with me at all?"

I was just about at the end of that crazy hike to Delicate Arch when I spot it through another arch window, so I took off my 45 pound backpack that felt like a 100 pound bag of lead, and composed a shot.

Notice to the left of the arch 4 hikers.

The plumeria grows abundantly in our neighborhood. Their fragrance is at its peak during the night.

(I pulled this shot out of my archives so my friends would know I am alive and well. Have not posted lately due to travel and schedule commitments.)
