Late afternoon sun's warm rays bath the Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, Utah

- www.kevin-palmer.com - There wasn't a very good sunset on this evening at Arches National Park. Once a lot of the people cleared out I moved closer to Delicate Arch to capture a different perspective. This view shows the large bowl that lies below the arch.
What an amazing hike it was, to the Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, Utah. 38 degrees (Celsius) without any shadow… But what an view.
Check out the video of our Roadtrip:
Utah is a state in the Western United States. It became the 45th state admitted to the Union on January 4, 1896. Utah is the 13th largest, the 34th most populous, and the 10th least-densely populated of the 50 United States. Approximately 80% of Utah's 2,817,222 people live along the Wasatch Front, centering on Salt Lake City, leaving vast expanses of the state nearly uninhabited and making the population the sixth most urbanized in the U.S. Utah is bordered by Colorado on the east, Wyoming on the northeast, Idaho on the north, Arizona on the south, and Nevada on the west. It also touches a corner of New Mexico.

Single delicate piece of illuminated cypress foliage caught my eye. These look like they would be sharp like pine needles but are actually very soft.
Spring is just around the corner but the Orchid sitting on the windowsill doesn't mind.
I know it's a popular subject but this orchid has such a nice delicate shade of light lemon, I couldn't resist it.
I know I keep saying I've never seen anything like it but I don't think I could've even imagined these. From their amazing magenta coloured hats to those impossibly thin black stems, this was an incredible find.
Prolific fall colors of several small big tooth maples are revealed here in a deep gulley in the Zion National Park's eastern section. Here I was attracted to the contrast of the trunks againist the sandstone cliffs and the delicate spray of color that accompanied it.

Thanks so much!!
I think these butterflies look so delicate. It's taken me more than one visit to Butterfly World to get a half decent shot of one.
I was captivated by this tiny little flower (approximately 2cm across) that was growing in my Mother-in-law's garden over the weekend. I thought it was gorgeous :)

Panorama shot as sunraise. Beautiful scenery up there, just amazing. Have a look at the other Delicate Arch pic in my stream to get the story behind it (if interested ;-) )
We might kiss when we are alone
When nobody's watching
We might take it home
We might make out when nobody's there
It's not that we're scared
It's just that it's delicate.

Golden hour shot from Arches National Park. Moab, Utah. I was lucky enough to snap this shot just as the sun peeked through the clouds, and in between tourists walking under the arch. Timing is everything and it was definitely worth hanging out for a few hours for that perfect moment.
Day 6 or our western adventure. We spent our morning at Arches National Park hiking the mile trail through 110 degree heat to world-famous Delicate Arch, carved by wind in red sandstone and featured on license plates and other touristy items. Look closely, for instance, at the "Welcome to Utah" sign in one of my previous photos, and you'll see this arch.
Something you must have seen there. As we heard that it is very crowded during sunset we decided to go there for sunrise. Got up at 4:30am and went there from Moab, headlamps on and up the "mountain". Except the mosquitoes it was spectacular. Only 3 other people were there. After the sunrise we enjoyed breakfast up there and defeated our muffins against a squirrel gang. Absolutely worth it :-)
This is my shot of the trip
goodbye, April.

After a 45 minute hike, in 32 degree temperatures, we arrived at Delicate Arch just before sunrise. It was a spectacular scene. The clouds weren't that great...in fact, they were high flat clouds that didn't allow the light of the the sun to come out in full force. I captured this image just as I was about to put my camera away. The sun came out for a moment, allowing me to capture the arch with its shadow.
