Maisie was gracious enough to give me a few minutes of her valuable time yesterday. Most of this time was spent setting up my laptop so that I could shoot tethered into Lightroom 4. I've never done this before but it is so much better than examining the shot on the back of the camera, it is certainly something I'll aim to do more of.

At the moment I'm using a 5m USB cable to transfer the raw files to LR. I'm tempted to investigate ways of doing this wirelessly but I'm a bit concerned about the delay before the image pops up on the screen (I'm kind of impatient with technology!). I could always just transfer the JPGs wirelessly, to reduce the delay, but I see that as quite a compromise. I'd be interested to hear if you have any experience of this, good or bad. Maybe a 5DIII and an eye-fi card is in my future? ;-)

This was shot two of two before she'd had enough!

Generali tower by Zaha Hadid (2004-18), 'the twisted one', 170m, 44 floors. It features a double-façade of sun-deflecting louvres flanked by glazing to provide efficient environmental control.

“Aligned at ground level with three of the city’s primary axes that converge within CityLife, the 170m (44-storey) Generali Tower connects with its surrounding public piazzas and park; the curvilinear geometries of its podium defined by the perceived centripetal forces generated from the staggered intersection of these three city axes at the tower’s base. This vortex of centripetal forces at ground level is transferred vertically through the tower by realigning successive rhomboid-shaped floor plates to twist the tower about its vertical axis. This helical twist reduces incrementally with the height of each floor above street level, giving all floors a fractionally different relationship to the floors above and below.” www.archdaily.com/893309/generali-tower-zaha-hadid-archit...

The CityLife project in Milan is a redevelopment of a former barracks and parade ground and the trade fair exhibition site Fiera Campionaria Italiana (which relocated to Rho Pero). The three office towers provide a focal point and form the heart of the CityLife business district. They are: the Allianz Tower by Andrea Maffei & Arata Isozaki (Il Dritto / the Straight One); Generali Tower by Zaha Hadid (Lo Storto / the Twisted One); PwC Tower by Daniel Libeskind (Il Curvo / the Curved One).

CityLife, covering 36.6 hectares, includes 1,000 new homes, offices for more than 11,000 staff, public piazzas and a public park. Parking is underground, there is a 5 km-long cycling path and a brand new metro station named Tre Torri. It connects with the Milan Congress Centre (MiCo).

This is my modified PTR91 (H&K91 Clone) This PTR91 has PSG90 Rails welded on the side for stability. It has a brass deflector welded on to adjust brass ejection to a reasonable 7'. The rifle also has an AR style lower with a Hogue grip, Magpul PRS2, it also has a few other accessories, along with an XS 50 round drum (.308). All done in Kryptek Typhoon. The pattern is designed to retain the black rifle look, but add depth to the rifle. It also has a Trijicon 3.5 ACOG.

I also want to thank Drowning Ink Customs for their hard work on this project. They coated over 20 magazines, two drums, all the accessories, two complete lowers and stocks (the Rifle also has a collapsible stock and normal H&K Lower). All the patterns match between parts, which is very hard to do and most shops do not take the time and effort to match pattern lines from piece to piece. It has Duracoat on most of the parts, with Duracoat High Temp coatings on the upper, barrel etc. It also have Cerekote Slick coating on the insides to reduce friction and prevent mucking from repeated firings, along with trigger work from Springfield Trigger Works.

The welding was done by John, a US Vet and gunsmith.

SUNROOF WIND DEFLECTOR

•OEM Make & Model: 2011MY Ford Motor Co. Ford® Focus® C346 compact car

•Tier Supplier/Processor: Webasto SE / Windsor Mold Group

•Material Supplier / Toolmaker: Ticona Engineering Polymers / two-shot injection molded

•Material / Process: Celstran® PP-GF40-03 LFT-PP-GF40 / Vacuum bag, autoclave cure

•Description: This multi-material sunroof wind deflector is co-molded using rigid LFT-PP overmolded with a flexible styrenic-block copolymer TPE (TPE-s) using a 2-shot rotary press. Careful materials selection assured high rigidity, low moisture absorption, toughness, good aesthetics, and light weight for the LFT-PP grade, as well as good UV stability and a strong cohesive bond for the TPE grade. By co-molding the part on 1 press, costs are reduced, there is less flash, secondary operations are eliminated, scrap is lowered, appearance is improved, warranty costs are reduced, and a more robust adhesion between materials is achieved.

I was a little disappointed to open this model and find that my deflector dish hasn't been properly fitted! It was not flush with the engineering section, rather sticking out at the top. I have since managed to rectify this with a little force.

Also, this model doesn't seem quite so detailed as the Enterprise-D somehow. Maybe owing to it being a smaller ship and not actually needing as much detail.

Now I know a lot of research was done into the colour of these models to get the paint as close to official as possible, but the model seems a little too grey for my liking. The ship was always white in my mind, but then again this could just be because of previous models I've had of the constitution-class refit.

I never realised that the deflector changed from copper at impulse to blue at warp speed, so thanks to the magazine for pointing that out! I'm sure that wasn't the case with the Enterprise-A, was it?

I do like the way the warp nacelles light up when backlit. Not quite so sure though why a similar plastic was used for the deflector dish.

Overall good model though of a ship that I will forever remember burning up in the atmosphere of the Genesis planet. Brings back memories of my 22" AMT kit with lights and sounds. I think the main reason for not being quite so excited about this model is that I had a very similar one from Johnny Lightning, whose warp nacelle unfortunately snapped and so it ended up in the bin!

The Air Conditioner Deflector allows you to turn on the air conditioner in any room, at any moment but not have cold air blowing directly on your head and the air will spread evenly across the room.

The deflector is made of PP and comes in two different colors - blue and white. Thanks to the telescopic design, the deflector will fit perfectly on most air conditioner models and the spreading of the air can be easily controlled.

Installation is easy and because it is so easy to attach and detach, you shouldn't have any problems with cleaning the deflector. Also, it allows the air to blow both up and down and on the sides.

Material: PP plastic

The plastic deflector assembly under the front of our VW had been slightly damaged and a portion was hanging loose just below the painted metal up front. So, naturally, as we headed south on Interstate 5 on our way to Death Valley we unavoidably ran over and flattened an empty cardboard box causing further damage to the stupid plastic car parts.

Long story short: 20 or so miles farther on we exited at highway 46, grabbed a bite and then searched for some place to remove the offending plastic. Nancy spotted Royal Truck Wash. I drove over and asked their advice on where we could have the part removed. They offered to do it for us at no charge. Cool with me.

Moving the car over the truck pit was an interesting exercise. And rewarding. The fellow shown here was able to easily repair the damage. I couldn't let him get away without charging something so I pressed a twenty into his hand, thanked him profusely, then we went on our way.

Originally built to deflect explosives, the weathered walls surrounding the Old Arsenal have a special beauty--durable yet delicate. This colorful interior section is accessible to the public yet not often seen because it faces the back of the building. Completed in 1838, the Old Arsenal Museum is part of the Capitol Complex in downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
