By "ancient" definition, a thunderstorm is a precipitation of VARIOUS intensity (even weak) accompanied by at least 1 lightning and 1 thunder and here we are, there's a bit of everything, even a rainbow band...😂

Here I'm a few kilometers East of the previous photo, on the bank that protects the Fossalon cultivated lowlands from high tide and occasional storm surges, looking north-east.

The embankment is decidedly "wild"😂, full of vegetation, but I think this photo deserved to be taken despite the jungla-embankment.

Definition of despot - a ruler or other person who holds absolute power, typically one who exercises it in a cruel or oppressive way, which is why all the buses come at the same time.

This flower was picked from my garden, I noticed that the petals contained red and yellow and seemed to sparkle, stark contrast against the vivid blue.

I shot this against a black piece of card in my kitchen. I placed a white card to the leftt and a purple card to the right. I used 2 cheep chinese LED reading lights, which are adjustable, they produce a day light white balance, there was also natural front lighting.

I placed the lights underneath, one pointing to the white card and one towards the purple card. The white side had lower intensity than the purple side, reflecting off the cards. I thought this would give me definition and structure to the image.

I later post processed the image in lightroom.

… Please press L to enlarge… patterns are made with Moiré effect … sorry that after jpg and upload there is some quality deterioration…

Moiré effect is a visual perception that occurs when viewing a set of lines or dots that is superimposed on another set of lines or dots, where the sets differ in relative size, angle, or spacing. The moiré effect can be seen when looking through ordinary window screens at another screen or background. It can also be generated by a photographic or electronic reproduction, either deliberately or accidentally. (whatis.techtarget.com/definition/moire-effect )

Tibetan name is Lake Mapam Yutso

Manasarovar, the great turquoise lake. Unvanquished Turquoise Lake, another name of Manasarovar. the Ever-cool Turquoise Lake, Manasarovar. Lake Manasarovar. At 4572 meters, and with 320 square kilometers, Lake Manasarovar is one of the the highest large body of fresh water in the world.

Its other names are the Unvanquished Turquoise Lake (ma pham g.yu mtsho), Anavatapta, the Ever-cool Lake (mtsho ma dros pa), and the Divine Lotus Lake (padma lha mtsho). It is called the Unvanquished Lake because when one examines all the other great lakes of Tibet to see if they possess the eight qualities of perfect water (chu yan lag brgyad ldan) they are faulty in some respect. It is called Turquoise Lake because its limpid waters resemble a turquoise mandala. It is given the name Ever- cool Lake because it is the palace of the naga king Anavatapta, "Who Never Warms Up." It is called Divine Lotus Lake because it resembles a fully opened eight-petaled lotus. [MR]. Manasarovar A lake in western Tibet, near Mount Kailash, sacred to Chakrasamvara.

I composed this image of a Kananaskis Country mountain a few weeks ago, and I decided that developing it in monochrome would allow a better definition of its intricacies. I find this mountain to be beautiful. The question is why?

I've found that some people find mountains to be overbearing, leaving them feeling claustrophobic. But most find them beautiful, broadly speaking. Here are how two anonymous writers explained why they find mountains beautiful.

"Complexity. Our brains love complexity and there is plenty in the ridges and valleys that make the mountain flanks. We can scan the vista endlessly yet find something new. The sun shifts a bit in the sky and the mountain has been made anew, ready for further study. Waves and water can have the same fascination; each wave and each shift of the winds and tides refresh the view. Other people may have other reasons, but I love the endless craggy bits."

"Standing firmly vertical, the mountains defy the gravity of the Earth and peek out from the sky. Mountains in every aspect of their uniqueness seem completely different from this world. Mountains are picturesque islands of the sky."

Do you find mountains to be beautiful? If so, have you ever wondered why?

There are multiple definitions for when a boat becomes a ship, including size, purpose, and other characteristics:

Size: Some say a ship is a vessel that's at least 197 feet (60 meters) long. Others say a ship is a large, ocean-faring vessel.

Purpose: A ship is a versatile vessel that can be used for commercial, military, or scientific purposes. A boat is often used for leisure activities.

Masts: A sailing ship may be defined as having at least three masts.

Deck: A ship may have a through-fitted deck, while a boat may have an open cockpit.

Weight: A ship may weigh at least 500 tonnes.

Crew: A ship may have a commander and a crew, while a boat may just have whomever is on it at the time.

Personal use: A vessel may be considered a yacht if it was constructed solely for personal use and has a combined occupancy of less than 100, including crew.

Submarines are technically ships, but they are traditionally referred to as boats. The original submarines were small and manned only when in use, so “boat” was appropriate.

If you enlarge this photograph you can see the definition provided by the medium format 6x6 120 film negative. No cropping was required here, but there is plenty of scope for that if needed. The reflections in the chrome and mirrors are a standout for me.

I went with the definition "a loosening or slackening". These are ribbon streamers for the 4th of July celebration. HMM
