/ Transhumance is defined as a type of grazing in continuous movement, adapting in space to zones of changing productivity. It differs from nomadism in having fixed seasonal settlements and a fixed main nucleus (town) from which the population that practices it originates. At present, transhumant grazing is practiced, at least, in Chile and Argentina, in Peru and Bolivia, as well as in the Brazilian Pantanal, mainly involving the movement of cattle heads in the Pantanal and part of Argentina, whereas camelids are used more in the Altiplano. The goats form a large part of the transhumance of northern Neuquén and southern Mendoza, while the sheep is used in the Patagonian plains. Transhumance in South America is typical of both indigenous and creole farmers.
It was practiced by a people originally from Argentina and Chile called Diaguitas long before the arrival of the Spaniards in the region. Currently transhumance is still practiced by cattle ranches in the Norte Chico of Chile. And the Mapuches that live in the southern part of Neuquén practice what they call the "veranada" and the "invernada", moving with their cattle towards the lowlands without snow in the winter, and returning to lands closer to the peaks, in summer. where pastures and tender shoots grow after the snowfall.
This four-bedroom country house plan defines casual elegance with its front and back wrapping porches and triplet of dormers. An open, two-level foyer with palladian window leads to the expansive great room with cathedral ceiling. Windows all around and bays in the master suite and breakfast area of this house plan add space and light, while nine-foot ceilings create more volume. The chef-friendly kitchen includes a large center island that doubles as a serving bar, and the study/bedroom with large walk-in closet is ideal for overnight guests. Secondary bedrooms upstairs each feature their own bath and walk-in closet. Note the ample closet space, garage storage area and generous bonus room! *Photographed home may have been modified from the original construction documents.* www.dongardner.com/house-plan/1140/the-hollandale

Whenever I am asked to do a preview of a designer, I am filled with excitement and honored that I have the opportunity to review a design that few have even lay eyes on. This week I have the pleasure of exclusively introducing a new house design by Froukje Hoorenbeek….the ‘Holle Bilt’. Froukje Hoorenbeek manages her store Furniture and Houses by Dutchie and has been long renowned as one of SL’s inspirational home and decor designers.
