Kottarakkara Thampuran(1555 to 1605)
This story is taken from Ramayana. Kottarakara Thampuran wrote Ramanattam (which transformed itself into Kathakali) by setting the Ramayana in eight parts. This story is one of them in which not Rama but Parasurama steals the thunder with some great performances.
The story is from the Bala Kanda of Ramayana. Sri Rama and his brothers were growing up in Ayodhya. Rama and Lakshmana were interested in hunting in forests while Bharata and Shatrughna were more interested in looking after the gardens and estates attached to the palaces. At this time, Sage Vishwamitra, who got sick of the troubles created by a demoness called Thataka came to visit Dasharatha. Dasharatha invited Viswamitra and told him that he is ready to fulfill any wish of the sage. Vishwamitra requested that the king lend him his son Rama for the express purpose of destroying certain demons. Hearing this Dasharatha was terrified. How can a young boy destroy demons? At this time Sage Vasishta interfered and told Dasharatha to keep his word and thereby the two boys, Rama and Lakshmana were sent along with Vishawmitra to the forests.
On the way Vishwamitra advised the boys two mantras called Bala and Athibala. On Vishwamitra's orders Rama killed Thataka. Again during a yaga conducted by the sage two demons, Subahu and Maricha, came to spoil the Yaga. Subahu was killed while Maricha was swept away to sea by Rama's arrows.
Then Vishwamitra took the boys to Janaka's palace. On the way the Sage told the boys the story of Ahalya who had turned into a stone due to a curse of Sage Gautama. Rama gently kicks the stone shown by Vishwamatra and Ahalya comes back to life and goes back to live with Gautama. Rama lifted a huge bow called Thrayambaka(Shiva's bow) and broke it also, and having passed the royal test married Sita. Hearing this, Dasharatha came from Ayodhya along with his other children. Hence Lakshmana married Urmila, Bharatha married Mandavi, Shatrughna married Suthakirti, all from Janaka's palace.
Now comes the climax. When the entourage was returning to Ayodhya, sage Parasurama came in their way and stopped them. 'Areda Natannidunnu?' or 'Who walks?', he asks. He ridiculed Rama for breaking Shiva's bow. He said that since you have broken Shiva's bow, you should at least be capable of tying my bow. Rama tied the Bow easily and proceeded on his way while the defamed and defeated Parasurama proceeded for doing further Tapas.
In this story all the royalty have pacha vesham and others are minuku. Thataka is Kari and other demons are Kathi.

National BJP leader Sukhminder Pal Singh Grewal, today alleged that the arrest of the former vice-chancellor of the Punjab Technical University (PTU) Dr Rajnish Arora was a political vendetta of the Congress party and a planned conspiracy to defame RSS.
In a statement issued today All India Secretary Kisan Morcha, Grewal said that Dr Arora in a personality of high integrity and full of honesty and during his tenure as VC he has hit hard of the education mafia running in Punjab and inside the PTU.
“The Congress government by arresting Arora, has played in the hands of the same mafia. A dean working in the PTU campus is also assisting this mafia. The Captain Amarinder Singh government, on the other hand, has tried to use the case to defame highly sacred RSS,” said Grewal.
He said that there total transparency was kept in the recruitments done in the tenure of Arora and the allegations on which he has been arrested are totally baseless and would fell flat in the court.
“If you look at the FIR, those persons have been made accused who has opposed bad-deeds and corruption of the dean. The Vigilance Bureau is also playing in the gallery of this power-full dean,” said Grewal.
The BJP leader has demanded a CBI probe in the case.

Several American Jewish groups aren’t laughing about a comedy routine performed at Sunday night’s Oscar awards. Both the Anti-Defamation League and the Simon Wiesenthal Center lambasted the awards show over a sketch starring the foul-mouthed teddy bear "Ted” – the star of a movie by the same name – and actor Mark Wahlberg.
In the routine, Ted – voiced by host Seth MacFarlane – tells Wahlberg that in order to “work in this town” (Hollywood) he must be Jewish. He then adds, “I was born Theodore Shapiro and I would like to donate to Israel and continue to work in Hollywood forever.”
The ADL’s Abe Foxman called the routine “offensive and not remotely funny.” “To many who know little or nothing about Hollywood or the falsity of such Jewish stereotypes, there’s a much higher potential for the ‘Jews control Hollywood’ myth to be accepted as fact,” an ADL statement said.
“It only reinforces stereotypes which legitimize anti-Semitism. It is sad and disheartening that the Oscars awards show sought to use anti-Jewish stereotypes for laughs,” Foxman's statement continued. He also expressed regrets that MacFarlane and the Academy Awards producers didn’t show greater sensitivity about airing a sketch that so reinforced age-old stereotypes about Jewish control of the film industry.
The segment was also criticized by the Simon Wiesenthal Center, which said, “It is unfortunate that at a time when anti-Semitism is so prevalent throughout the world that Seth McFarlane used the pulpit of the Oscars, before an audience of more than a billion people, to contribute to the myth that Jews own Hollywood. The Oscars are transmitted to every corner of the globe, even to such places where such hateful myths are believed as fact. Every comedian is entitled to wide latitude, but no one should get a free pass for helping to promote anti-Semitism.”
While there are fine Jewish actors and movie executives on both sides of the “do Jews control Hollywood debate,” few would question the historical Jewish influence in Tinsel town. Never the less, McFarlane’s Oscar sketch only serves to reinforce a negative stereotype that he would dare not have risked against a group more “favored” by Hollywood. Can you imagine the outrage in the mainstream media if “Ted” had said, “to work in this town he must be Muslim or Gay?” Pray that such stereotypical characterizations of Jews and their influence in Hollywood will be rendered unacceptable and that comedians will refrain from such cheap shots against the Jewish community.

Thousands of police and residents took part in silent demonstrations in Berlin on Friday, June 7, to honor the officer killed in a stabbing attack by an Afghan immigrant in Mannheim last week.
The 25-year-old asylum seeker had seriously injured five participants at an Islam-critical rally and killed a 30-year-old police officer by stabbing him in the neck.
Germany has a major problem with violent crime in connection with uncontrolled migration. These include homicides, grievous bodily harm and gang rapes. The perpetrators are mostly foreigners or Germans with a migration background, often from the Islamic milieu. In Berlin alone, there are an average of ten knife attacks every day.
Large sections of the government and the media play down this problem and leave it largely to the population and the police to deal with it. Anyone who openly addresses these conditions is defamed as a racist or right-wing extremist AFD sympathiser.

Essay: “Coulter’s Iraq War Nonsense” at wp.me/p4jHFp-6j.
Is Ann Coulter lying – again – to sell a book?
This is not the first time Coulter has been wrong – and purposefully so – in politicizing national security and military matters. (Sometimes Marie Harf makes more sense.) Coulter has compared Washington D.C. to war-zone Baghdad and repeatedly defamed military war heroes for partisan political purposes.
Now, Coulter does so to promote her next book.
Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the house of the Lord, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the Lord.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The Lord hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magormissabib.
For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.
Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied lies.
O Lord, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived; thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.
For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the Lord was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.
But the Lord is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
But, O Lord of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause.
Sing unto the Lord, praise ye the Lord: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.
Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto thee; making him very glad.
And let that man be as the cities which the Lord overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide;
Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.
Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?

A few years ago, a rather controversial statue of Richard III was erected in the bailey, close to the entrance. The sculptor, Linda Thompson, has tried to portray various descriptions of Richard, including the good king and the Shakespearean villain. A basilisk or cockatrice is partially visible behind Richard, its tail curling over his right shoulder to form part of the livery collar.
The monsters behind Richard seem to hint at the great burden he had to bear during his lifetime from physical deformity, (we now know he suffered from severe scoliosis of the spine), but also the subsequent defamation of his character that has been handed down through history.
The white boar at his feet (his personal badge) is dead and he is armless and powerless to defend himself.

I usually don't expect a fee for private viewing, projects, school work, charity work, etc. Also if you wanted to use any images as a base for a private artwork or poster, I would love to see the final product (as long as it is legal and doesn't defame anyone).
Although I do need to charge for other professional, corporate or commercial uses, as I also have to make money to live. I can then supply a high resolution finished image which is sized to your needs.

All the buildings in the town of Kuito looked like this. The town was held seige for weeks, with not one pane of glass remaining intact. It was such a shock to see this quaint pastel kitsch town destroyed. This building, as like most left standing, is still being occupied. Kuito, Angola.

Thought with the media coverage of Alan Jones at the moment it would be a good time to upload photos of the Acland school.
Acland State School opened on 21 February 1921. A declining population meant the primary school had just 12 students by 2004, leading to its closure on 31 December 2004. The school's most notable former student was controversial Australian radio broadcaster, Alan Jones, who started at the school in 1946.
Alan Jones has been known for many of roles over the years such as former coach of the Australian National Rugby Union Team, a school teacher, a speech writer in the office of the Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser. But mostly known for being a controversial Australian radio broadcaster. This position leading to his latest appearance in the media headlines. Jones found himself in court for defamation after calming the Wagner brothers were responsible for the deaths of 12 Grantham residents in the 2011 floods.
Jones with 2GB and 4BC radios was found guilty and ordered to pay an astounding amount of $3.7m to the Wagner brothers
Dr. Pierrette Herzberger-Fofana is the first woman of African descent to be elected to European Parliament from Germany.
On June 17, she told the parliament in Brussels that she had been physically abused by Brussels police while attempting to stop the harassment of Black kids. As an MEP, she was in Brussels because the European parliament was due to vote on a non-binding resolution against racism! The Belgian police have brought a defamation complaint against the 71 year old professor!! That’s where the situation stands. It is horrifying, and so typical of Brussels.
I drew this using reference from a photo by Daina Le Lardic.

It's called karma, baby. Magaly Medina is one of Peru's best known exponents of yellow journalism, hiring goons to dig into the private lives of Peru's miniscule film and TV industry, known as Chollywood. Today she was sentenced to five months in jail for defamation of character, after reporting that a leading soccer player had been out on the town prior to an important game. Whether or not she is in fact guilty, a good dose of humility will do Ms. Medina some good.

PROTESTERS, POLICE CLASH AS MPS MULL CHARTER CHANGE
By Associated Press -November 18, 2020 10:00 am
Pro-democracy protesters in Thailand battled police who sought to keep them from entering the grounds of Parliament on Tuesday to press for constitutional changes as lawmakers debated whether to back proposed amendments.
About 40 people were injured, including five who were shot, according to emergency services. It was unclear who fired the shots and whether they were live rounds or rubber bullets. Some of the injuries occurred during a brawl between the pro-democracy protesters and stone-throwing royalists who oppose constitutional change.
Police used tear gas and water cannons laced with irritating chemicals against the student-led demonstrators, who tried to push their way past barbed-wire barriers to enter the grounds of the legislature on the outskirts of Bangkok.
The chaotic street confrontations began in midafternoon and ended about six hours later, when protest leaders called a halt and sent followers home.
It was the worst violence during months of actions by the protesters, though police had previously employed water cannons at least twice. The protest movement has been staging increasingly determined mass rallies of thousands of people around the country.
Lawmakers are scheduled to vote on seven proposed constitutional amendments during a two-day joint session of the elected House and appointed Senate. Constitutional changes require a joint vote of both bodies. Any motions that are passed will have to go through second and third votes at least a month after this week’s balloting.
Lawmakers adjourned a previous session without voting on proposed amendments, leading the protesters to accuse the government of bad faith.
The parliamentary session is an effort by the government of Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha to take the initiative away from the pro-democracy movement, which in addition to seeking constitutional changes and reforms to the monarchy wants Prayuth and his government to step down.
The protesters say that Prayuth, who as army chief in 2014 led a coup that ousted an elected government, returned to power unfairly in last year’s election because laws had been changed to favor a pro-military party. The protesters also say the constitution, written and enacted under military rule, is undemocratic.
Reform of the monarchy is a key demand of the protest movement, which believes the royal institution is too powerful and lacks accountability. The unprecedented demand has touched a raw nerve in Thailand, where reverence for the royal institution is inculcated from birth and protected by a law that makes defaming the monarch and his immediate family punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Tuesday’s violence grew as about 1,000 protesters were pushed back by police water cannons as they tried to breach barriers set up on several streets to keep them from entering the Parliament compound.
Police also fired fired tear gas canisters, some of which were tossed back by demonstrators, many of whom wore helmets and other protective gear.
The Erawan emergency medical services group said 41 people were injured, including five who were shot in the leg, stomach or wrist. No further details were available. Police later denied firing any guns and said they had complied with laws and international standards.
A protest leader, Parit “Penguin” Chiwarak, announced at about 8 p.m. that the demonstrators had captured enough ground to declare they had achieved their goal of surrounding Parliament. Some lawmakers had already left the scene by boat from a pier behind Parliament.
Parit announced another rally on Wednesday afternoon at the busy Rajprasong intersection in the heart of Bangkok’s main shopping district.
Parliament is not expected to agree on specific constitutional changes at this point. The protesters back a proposal that would roll back aspects of the current 2017 constitution — enacted during military rule — that granted extra powers to unelected branches of government, such as the Senate.
Instead, Parliament is likely to establish a drafting committee to write a new charter. This would allow the government to say it is willing to meet the protesters’ demands at least halfway, while buying time with a process that could extend over many months.
Any change to sections of the constitution concerning the monarchy is fiercely opposed by the government and its supporters, who consider the monarchy untouchable.
Thailand has had 20 constitutions since abolishing the absolute monarchy in 1932 in favor of a constitutional monarchy.
