Long closed fast food shop with hoarding, graffiti and dedication.

... the dedication series ... drawing inspiration from my flickr contacts.

Normally, Marty and I will venture out together for a photo shoot. To be honest, I can't remember the last time I went out for a walk with only my camera for company - although this is something I used to do on a daily basis. I came across these flowers and fired off a couple of shots with a particular contact in mind. I was disappointed with the results on upload. Today I headed out again with my favourite lens hoping to get the shot I was wanting.

Although I do not know the name, these flowers remind me of pretty little butterflies - they seemed so light hearted in the sunshine ... and light hearted was the feeling I had the first time I investigated DevoPhoto's stream. He was somewhere through his 365 day project and I probably spent a good hour tracking through his pics - his antics just made me laugh, but also I really liked his photos while he is out and about in his neighbourhood.

This one is for you, Steve. I am so pleased that through Flickr, I have had the opportunity to "meet and get to know you" through your pictures.

Many say that the process of learning photography acquires blood, sweat and tears. I prefer the quick a pound of flesh method. Well, not really a pound of flesh. I only left a long strip of my skin and DNA in front of this building when I didn't see a step because I was looking up. To make a long story short, I did a pretty spectacular swan dive onto the concrete. Thankfully, I did not break my camera. And yes, that was the first thing I checked after the fall.

Took this shot and a few others before I hobbled back to my car. Had to get this with clouds - no matter how puny they were.

This is the third in a series of photos I'll make as a dedication to light painters who inspire me.

Nearly 100 years old but still looking good, the All Souls' Anglican Memorial Church on the Victoria Estate (Victoria Sugar Mill) was dedicated on 29 October 1922 to the 11 people from the estate who paid the supreme sacrifice in World War I.

Lest we forget a single one of them.

Started in July 2019. the $50 million, three-story building project faced pandemic-related supply chain delays but was completed on budget. The new city hall is approximately 135,000 square feet and is located between the former City Hall and Building 2. More than 300 people will be providing all the same services – Treasurer, Revenue, DMV, City Clerk, Council Chambers, Volumeter Resources, and Communications.

ODC Our Daily Challenge: Dedication, Time & Love. Being in and with Nature

... the dedication series ... drawing inspiration from my flickr contacts.

When I first joined Flickr, I never expected that membership would be an avenue to restore my faith in humanity, For the most part my Flickr experience has been overwhelmingly positive. There have been some very dark moments too, which have proven to be invaluable insights. However, today is not the day to dwell on those matters.

The tenacious spirit of a number of my contacts shines through as they face addiction, chronic/ terminal illness or deeply personal tragedy. Their photography is a testament to their personal determination and the the strength of the human spirit to rise above circumstances. One does not have to search far to be touched by these stories, or to find the outpouring of raw emotions or support for others.

Bad things happen to good people. It is part of the human condition. For me it is not so much a question of why these things happen, but how do I allow my self to feel, how will I respond, what actions will I take in my life as a result of that knowledge. I believe in the positive ripple effect created by random acts of kindness. I believe in the power of the individual to create positive change through small intentional acts. I believe that even in the darkness there is room for hope.

Today's post is a dedication to an extremely talented artist, whose photography contained that tenacious spirit of humanity way before personal tragedy and illness has left him fighting for his life. Jackson, this one is for you and your family and in support of your cause.

Adoption Requires Dedication to Righteousness

Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:5; Ephesians 1:5

If the Lord adopts us for his sons on the condition that our life be a representation of Christ the bond of our adoption, then unless we dedicate and devote ourselves to righteousness we not only, with the utmost treachery, revolt from our Creator, but also renounce the Savior himself.

Elliot Ritzema, 300 Quotations for Preachers from the Reformation (Pastorum Series; Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press, 2013).

January 1st 2014

Dedication (noun): wholehearted commitment to a particular course of thought or action.

Ah, another year, and with that a new wave of New Year's resolutions that probably won't last over a month. (Can you tell I'm not too fond of waiting until the New Year to change?) I just don't get it... If you're really devoted to making a change to better yourself, why wait? It seems pointless to me. With that being said, last year I decided to embark on a journey to lead a healthier lifestyle, and although I'm still well on my way, I honestly couldn't feel better and just seeing progress gives me one of the greatest feelings imaginable.

2013 was a big year for me and, dare I say it, the best and most eventful year of my life thus far. "There’s been a hundred lows but there has been a million highs" and I can't help but feel proud of who I've become and confident that I'm still making progress towards becoming a better person.

I don't know what 2014 has in store for me, but so far it seems nothing but promising. I'm surrounded by love and positivity and I don't know anything greater than that at the end of the day. But I'm ready for more greatness that awaits me this year.

(p.s If ever I were to make a New Year's Resolution, it would be to actually finish this project 365 thing. Third time's the charm, right?)

Over the years, I've had more than one tripod, but have never found the need to use one very often - it is often too much pfaff as they say in Germany, but if you have a lens of a certain size, I guess it becomes essential on regular outings.

It's probably less common to see such kit in Basingstoke, but the big attraction in January 2017 were four Waxwings.

Dedication, a feel of commitment and enthusiastic inside one's body, especially when you are doing something you enjoy the most or when you are with someone who you respect and admire, or a feeling to.

Capturing landscape and playing on the piano are something that I usually put my full dedication to them.

Trying my best to know, understand and remember little and big details of my friends and family is another dedication I gave myself. Because they are unique.

Couple months back, I was trying to open a conversation with a special friend; gave me a depressing moment of my life. All I remembered was what she did during her past, and I would like to catch up with her on this matter if she happens to be continuing. But, instead I gave her a bad impression about me for being intrusive.

This marked a big blow to me, because I couldn't manage to tell her or have a chance to explain to her, that I did not mean it to happen in this way nor being portrait as an intrusive person.

Now, I couldn't even reach out to her, for she is totally damn pissed with me.

I hope, if she happens to read it. All I want is to explain it to her that I'm someone who put in full dedication when you are a good friend to me. I never really have a mindset of being intrusive to your life.

I hope for a simple meet up over a coffee and clear things up between the both of us.

By the way, here's an image I would like to dedicate to you, an image which I hope you understand what is it about.

One of my dearest contacts is Geza Singer. Tom was lucky enough to buy his Oly XZ-1 when he was in London about 2 weeks ago and they met. My loss that I was not there. I admire Geza's work tremendously and he continues to inspire me, encourage me and make me look at things from new perspectives. I have learnt a lot about 'schmocus' from him (cannot do it like he does.......). Okay so here's a summer schmocus with grasses, comfrey and beans.

have a good Thursday everyone. Our new nanny has been beaten up by her brother so I am off to the doctor with her now.

Update on Amanda: she has been to see the doctor who took particulars, measured bruises and will submit a report to the police when Amanda lays a charge. The tenderness and kindness of this medical practitioner is in stark contrast to the brother's violent actions this morning.

I dedicate this picture to my plucky fish and aquarium model, Lippy, who passed away about a week ago. He was the last one left in the aquarium and I just found him being sucked into the filter one morning. He was a good pet and we had a good 7 years together. I hope you're happy up there in fishy heaven swimming to your heart's content. I will miss you!

There's something quite serene about waking up before the sun and taking in the day. No one else is awake, the world is still quiet... It's not the easiest thing to do. It takes a certain level of dedication. Dedication to catch the perfect wave. Dedication to get the perfect shot. Dedication that pays off in the end.
