Piero_HN and I wanted to watch the sun rise from Red Rocks early one September morning. We were there in the dark; we were there in time; we beat the sun; but we didn't beat this girl. It's not easy to get up early in the morning to run every row of seats of the fame Red Rocks Amphitheater; but that day with the sun barely shining its light on Red Rocks, she was already more than half way done. That's dedication!

3 years ago I lost my dad, and in the days running up to his funeral I wrote. The more I wrote, the more a dedication to him formed in my mind, one that I stood up and read at his funeral. Since that day I have wanted it to be part of me, not only is it very important to me but also it was something I was terrified of losing or forgetting.

The whole thing reads:

"Let us thrive on your courage and ambition. Work with your intelligence, and bask in the humour and peace of mind you have instilled in us all. Let us love unconditionally and act selflessly, as you have loved us. Let us treat others as generously as you have taught us to do. May we try and take comfort in the knowledge that “good souls fly away to better places”and be calm, knowing you are with others, lost, loved and never forgotten."

Something very close to my heart but happy to share.

Probably stupidity, but I was wet anyway, so standing within reach of the waves was not gong to make me any wetter :)

It did give a nice transition between the beach and sea though.

Many say that the process of learning photography acquires blood, sweat and tears. I prefer the quick a pound of flesh method. Well, not really a pound of flesh. I only left a long strip of my skin and DNA in front of this building when I didn't see a step because I was looking up. To make a long story short, I did a pretty spectacular swan dive onto the concrete. Thankfully, I did not break my camera. And yes, that was the first thing I checked after the fall.

Took this shot and a few others before I hobbled back to my car. Had to get this with clouds - no matter how puny they were.

This is the third in a series of photos I'll make as a dedication to light painters who inspire me.

ODC Our Daily Challenge: Dedication, Time & Love. Being in and with Nature

... the dedication series ... drawing inspiration from my flickr contacts.

When I first joined Flickr, I never expected that membership would be an avenue to restore my faith in humanity, For the most part my Flickr experience has been overwhelmingly positive. There have been some very dark moments too, which have proven to be invaluable insights. However, today is not the day to dwell on those matters.

The tenacious spirit of a number of my contacts shines through as they face addiction, chronic/ terminal illness or deeply personal tragedy. Their photography is a testament to their personal determination and the the strength of the human spirit to rise above circumstances. One does not have to search far to be touched by these stories, or to find the outpouring of raw emotions or support for others.

Bad things happen to good people. It is part of the human condition. For me it is not so much a question of why these things happen, but how do I allow my self to feel, how will I respond, what actions will I take in my life as a result of that knowledge. I believe in the positive ripple effect created by random acts of kindness. I believe in the power of the individual to create positive change through small intentional acts. I believe that even in the darkness there is room for hope.

Today's post is a dedication to an extremely talented artist, whose photography contained that tenacious spirit of humanity way before personal tragedy and illness has left him fighting for his life. Jackson, this one is for you and your family and in support of your cause.

Adoption Requires Dedication to Righteousness

Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:5; Ephesians 1:5

If the Lord adopts us for his sons on the condition that our life be a representation of Christ the bond of our adoption, then unless we dedicate and devote ourselves to righteousness we not only, with the utmost treachery, revolt from our Creator, but also renounce the Savior himself.

Dedication, a feel of commitment and enthusiastic inside one's body, especially when you are doing something you enjoy the most or when you are with someone who you respect and admire, or a feeling to.

Capturing landscape and playing on the piano are something that I usually put my full dedication to them.

Trying my best to know, understand and remember little and big details of my friends and family is another dedication I gave myself. Because they are unique.

Couple months back, I was trying to open a conversation with a special friend; gave me a depressing moment of my life. All I remembered was what she did during her past, and I would like to catch up with her on this matter if she happens to be continuing. But, instead I gave her a bad impression about me for being intrusive.

This marked a big blow to me, because I couldn't manage to tell her or have a chance to explain to her, that I did not mean it to happen in this way nor being portrait as an intrusive person.

Now, I couldn't even reach out to her, for she is totally damn pissed with me.

I hope, if she happens to read it. All I want is to explain it to her that I'm someone who put in full dedication when you are a good friend to me. I never really have a mindset of being intrusive to your life.

I hope for a simple meet up over a coffee and clear things up between the both of us.

By the way, here's an image I would like to dedicate to you, an image which I hope you understand what is it about.

Motivation, inspiration and hard work = pure art.

I dedicate this picture to my plucky fish and aquarium model, Lippy, who passed away about a week ago. He was the last one left in the aquarium and I just found him being sucked into the filter one morning. He was a good pet and we had a good 7 years together. I hope you're happy up there in fishy heaven swimming to your heart's content. I will miss you!

I took part in a fantastic shoot organised by Milly Colley aka millypix for Lostboys yesterday. It was great fun assisting Milly. She went above and beyond the cal of duty in this one lying in a bed of nettles to get the angle. That's dedication. Please check out her stream by clicking on the link opposite

"Powered by imagination / May she never run out of fuel"

I felt this was quite symbolic and a photo opportunity that I had to capture (I believe I was the only one who did)

This farmer didn't stop working throughout the whole show & not one time did I see him look up. He had a job for the day and just got on with it.

To me it was the dedication of the farmer combined with the dedication of the enthusiasts that brought this (the only remaining flying Vulcan) back from the dead.

"Dedication"

Some shots take more work to get than others. Yes, to get this shot I had to leave home. Yes, I had to drive several hours, yes I had to stay in a ratty motel in a borderline ghost town. Yes I had to walk over the crunching bones of fish and birds to get here. Yes I loved every last second of it.

I'm a different kind of person, I like to explore, I like to travel, I like to learn about the places we all forgot along the way. No, you won't find anything like this in Los Angeles, but that's exactly the point.

I'll take shots in and around the city, but this is my passion. This is my goal. Only dedication can bring moments like this one.
