Another one from the Fringe festival in Edinburgh. Found this young piper playing with complete dedication.

The last of several interior images I posted at the Stanford Church over the last couple of weeks. There is a dedication to Leland Stanford Jr. carved into the giant pillar on the left.

Piero_HN and I wanted to watch the sun rise from Red Rocks early one September morning. We were there in the dark; we were there in time; we beat the sun; but we didn't beat this girl. It's not easy to get up early in the morning to run every row of seats of the fame Red Rocks Amphitheater; but that day with the sun barely shining its light on Red Rocks, she was already more than half way done. That's dedication!

3 years ago I lost my dad, and in the days running up to his funeral I wrote. The more I wrote, the more a dedication to him formed in my mind, one that I stood up and read at his funeral. Since that day I have wanted it to be part of me, not only is it very important to me but also it was something I was terrified of losing or forgetting.
The whole thing reads:
"Let us thrive on your courage and ambition. Work with your intelligence, and bask in the humour and peace of mind you have instilled in us all. Let us love unconditionally and act selflessly, as you have loved us. Let us treat others as generously as you have taught us to do. May we try and take comfort in the knowledge that “good souls fly away to better places”and be calm, knowing you are with others, lost, loved and never forgotten."
Something very close to my heart but happy to share.

We were waiting for the dedication ceremony to begin for our company's new Perinatal unit, a place where women who are pregnant or with children under three, can recover from substance abuse, have a safe place to live and learn new skills. Several of our employees came from this unit which changed their lives.
Many say that the process of learning photography acquires blood, sweat and tears. I prefer the quick a pound of flesh method. Well, not really a pound of flesh. I only left a long strip of my skin and DNA in front of this building when I didn't see a step because I was looking up. To make a long story short, I did a pretty spectacular swan dive onto the concrete. Thankfully, I did not break my camera. And yes, that was the first thing I checked after the fall.
Took this shot and a few others before I hobbled back to my car. Had to get this with clouds - no matter how puny they were.
This is the third in a series of photos I'll make as a dedication to light painters who inspire me.

Started in July 2019. the $50 million, three-story building project faced pandemic-related supply chain delays but was completed on budget. The new city hall is approximately 135,000 square feet and is located between the former City Hall and Building 2. More than 300 people will be providing all the same services – Treasurer, Revenue, DMV, City Clerk, Council Chambers, Volumeter Resources, and Communications.

Alone on the Riverwalk for these few minutes a woman makes her way for a lunchtime run. It's not freezing outside, but by no means warm. This level of dedication to running amazes me.

Horseshoe Bay’s Boat House is like no other. Imagine walking down the pier and into this soaring and elegant structure to show your friends the handsome Chris-Craft powerboat that dwells there, maybe take them for a spin around the harbour? The Boat House includes a wood decked gathering hall that is the perfect on-water venue for a wine-tasting, a pilates workshop or a sailing demo. Upstairs, there is a resident’s lounge, a come-and go casual perch where you can enjoy watching the passing variety of harbour vessels or chat with your neighbours.
Inside there is a multi-purpose hall with panoramic harbour views, down a flexible accordion stair to the floating dock is the permanent home of the Chris-Craft Corsair 25. On the exterior, a post and beam wooden structure announces Horseshoe Bay’s dedication to craft. Set between the expressed columns and beams are glass panels in both transparent and translucent versions, ensuring that the boat house glows like a lantern by night, becoming a new landmark for the entire harbour.

... the dedication series ... drawing inspiration from my flickr contacts.
When I first joined Flickr, I never expected that membership would be an avenue to restore my faith in humanity, For the most part my Flickr experience has been overwhelmingly positive. There have been some very dark moments too, which have proven to be invaluable insights. However, today is not the day to dwell on those matters.
The tenacious spirit of a number of my contacts shines through as they face addiction, chronic/ terminal illness or deeply personal tragedy. Their photography is a testament to their personal determination and the the strength of the human spirit to rise above circumstances. One does not have to search far to be touched by these stories, or to find the outpouring of raw emotions or support for others.
Bad things happen to good people. It is part of the human condition. For me it is not so much a question of why these things happen, but how do I allow my self to feel, how will I respond, what actions will I take in my life as a result of that knowledge. I believe in the positive ripple effect created by random acts of kindness. I believe in the power of the individual to create positive change through small intentional acts. I believe that even in the darkness there is room for hope.
Today's post is a dedication to an extremely talented artist, whose photography contained that tenacious spirit of humanity way before personal tragedy and illness has left him fighting for his life. Jackson, this one is for you and your family and in support of your cause.
