Look on my suffering and deliver me,
for I have not forgotten your law.
Defend my cause and redeem me;
preserve my life according to your promise.
Salvation is far from the wicked,
for they do not seek out your decrees.
Your compassion, Lord, is great;
preserve my life according to your laws.

A SONG OF ETERNITY IN TIME.
ONCE, at night, in the manor wood

Amazed that any heavens could

My Love, in aimless love and grief,
Reached forth and drew aside a leaf
That just above us played the thief
And stole our starlight that for us was shining.
A star that had remarked her pain
Shone straightway down that leafy lane,
And wrought his image, mirror-plain,
Within a tear that on her lash hung gleaming.

The Swallow-tailed Kite is common in Florida and unusual in the rest of the Gulf states to Texas and certainly rare here in southeastern PA. A beautiful and graceful bird, they eat primarily large insects and small vertebrates. As with many birds, their numbers are declining due mainly to habitat loss and pesticide use.
Indignation grips me because of the wicked,
who have forsaken your law.
Your decrees are the theme of my song
wherever I lodge.
In the night, Lord, I remember your name,
that I may keep your law.
This has been my practice:
I obey your precepts.

The Alcazar of Segovia, located in the city of Segovia, in Castile and León, Spain, and constructed in the 12th century, is one of the most renowned medieval castles and one of the most visited landmarks in Spain. It has been the backdrop for significant historical events and has been home to twenty-two kings, along with notable historical figures.
This imposing fortress is a symbol of Segovia's Old City, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. Today, it is used as a museum and a military archives building since its declaration as a National Archive by a Royal Decree in 1998.
The Palais de l'Île is an old fortified house from the 12th century, renovated several times, located on an islet formed by the Thiou, which is located in the city of Annecy in the Haute-Savoie department, in the Auvergne region- Rhône-Alpes.
Used in particular as a prison, today an exhibition site on the architecture and heritage of the Annecy agglomeration area, it offers a permanent journey through the history and heritage of this area. You can visit the old courtrooms, the old prison cells and dungeons, as well as the old chapel.
The palace is classified as a historical monument by decree of February 16, 1900.
The Palais de l'Île is located in the French department of Haute-Savoie in the city of Annecy, in the middle of the old town, on an island of Thiou. He commanded the only passage on the river, as well as the toll attached to it.
The Island Palace is in the form of a spindle-shaped enclosure that follows the contour of the island. Its oldest nucleus is a tower from the late 12th or early 13th century, measuring about 12 square meters, built in a fine regular structure. It is accessed by two bridges; Previously, two doors closed the access. Today, we can still observe the starts of the south gate, the north one still remains.
The ground floor is divided into four semicircular vaulted rooms. On the first floor, we find the large audience hall and its roof, the façade of which opens with a loggia. It is topped by two other floors. In the 15th century a spiral staircase was added to this house. The contemporary enclosure of the keep was partially rebuilt in the 14th century, as were the buildings that support it. Still on the ground floor, between the door of the prison and that of the Palace of Justice, in an arcade, now glazed, is the "law bench" where the official proclamations were made.
An inner courtyard to the east separates this tower from a triangular chapel, flanked by the latrine tower. The dungeons are arranged along Thiou's little arm on three floors above the prison and kitchen outbuildings. The lawyers had their offices, grouped in a low building, called the banks, located to the north.

Riga’s tallest church with a tower offering a breathtaking view of the roofs of Old Town, the modern part of the city, Riga Bay and the Daugava River with its large port.
The more than 130 meters tall Gothic tower was completed at the end of the 15th century, but already in 1666 it collapsed. In 1690, a new tower was built in the Baroque style, with several domes and galleries, being the highest wooden construction in the world at the time. In 1721, lightning struck the tower and it burned down. At the decree of Russian Tsar Peter I the tower was renovated. The church was also demolished and the tower burned down during World War II.
In 1967, renovation of the tower began. This time a metal construction with an elevator was built so that the galleries can be used as sightseeing platforms. The tower is 123.25 meters high, and visitors are taken to the second gallery at the height of 72 meters.
Seven roosters of St Peter’s Church
Starting from the 15th century up to 1941, there had been a total of six wind vanes – roosters. The first rooster was bent by a storm, the second was blown down from the steeple, the third was removed because the storm had damaged it, the fourth rooster fell down in the churchyard during a storm, the fifth one collapsed, while the sixth rooster had been repaired, but came down when the tower collapsed. In 1970, a new rooster was erected, it was renovated and gilded for the 800th anniversary of the church.
Church building
St Peter’s Church was built in 1209, but just some walls and some pillars have remained from that time. Initially, it was a small hall, possibly with a separate bell tower. The current basilica was created during renovations in the 15th century.
The church hall leaves a grand impression, the middle part of it reaches a height of 30 meters. The altar part with five chapels demonstrates verticality of the Gothic style and fine profiles.
In 1997 Riga St Peter’s Church was included on UNESCO’s World Heritage list.

Museum of Arts and Popular Customs of Seville
The Museum of Arts and Popular Customs of Seville (Spanish: Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares) is a museum in Seville, Andalusia, Spain, located in the María Luisa Park, across the Plaza de América from the Provincial Archeological Museum.
The museum occupies the Mudéjar Pavilion (Pabellón Mudéjar) designed by Aníbal González and built in 1914. It served as an art pavilion, the Pabellón de Arte Antiguo, for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, when Aníbal González had the opportunity to design several additional permanent buildings for the plaza. The exterior is ceramic over brick, and has three doors with archivolts adorned with glazed tiles (azulejos).[citation needed]
The building originally consisted of two stories over an aeration chamber (necessary because of the humidity). In the 1960s, the main floor, originally over 12 metres (39 ft) high, was divided in two, with an intermediate level added by architect Delgado Roig. In 1972, as part of the preparations for the current museum, the various stories of the building were connected by a grand spiral staircase designed by José Galnares Sagastizábal.
The museum was established by a decree of 23 March 1972, initially as a section of the Museum of Fine Arts of Seville. It opened its doors to the public 4 March 1973.[2] For the next seven years, the museum fell under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education and Science, but the city government occupied more than half of the poorly maintained building. Neither institution took full responsibility. This situation led to a series of temporary closures. In 1976, the electric bill could not be paid, and the museum had to be shut until it could get power again. In 1979, heavy rains damaged the interior.

Beautiful Mourning Cloak absorbing the heat from some filtered forest sunlight.
Uncommon early Spring butterfly. It over-winters and emerges as the first butterfly of the season, usually late March to early April. It does not nectar. Instead, it takes nourishment from sap seeping from an occasional tree branch wound.
My earliest sighting of a BF, ever. Probably due to the unseasonably warm weather over the last week. Today, we are enjoying sunny 65F temps with very light breeze.
Keep in mind that Punxsutawny Phil has decreed another six weeks of winter. As such, it's turning rainy and colder tonight, so it might be some time before another critter like this one takes the stage.
Long long ago, in a simpler time, it was possible to stand at the end of the sea wall where I live, and take photos of people in the surf. Now the nanny state has decreed that the wall shall obstruct the view and none shall have a clear view of the break. Long long ago when I got my first zoom lens I would hang out on the sea wall and take action shots of people in the surf. The shots in this set were taken in 2006 and have languished too long in my archive. I hope you enjoy them.

The Louvre Museum/ Musée du Louvre, is the world's largest art museum and a historic monument in Paris, France, and is best known for being the home of the Mona Lisa. A central landmark of the city, it is located on the Right Bank of the Seine in the city's 1st arrondissement (district or ward). Approximately 38,000 objects from prehistory to the 21st century are exhibited over an area of 72,735 square meters (782,910 square feet)
The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace, originally built as the Louvre castle in the late 12th to 13th century under Philip II. Remnants of the fortress are visible in the basement of the museum. Due to urban expansion, the fortress eventually lost its defensive function, and in 1546 Francis I converted it into the primary residence of the French Kings. The building was extended many times to form the present Louvre Palace. In 1682, Louis XIV chose the Palace of Versailles for his household, leaving the Louvre primarily as a place to display the royal collection, including, from 1692, a collection of ancient Greek and Roman sculpture. In 1692, the building was occupied by the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres and the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture, which in 1699 held the first of a series of salons. The Académie remained at the Louvre for 100 years. During the French Revolution, the National Assembly decreed that the Louvre should be used as a museum to display the nation's masterpieces.

Redeem me from human oppression,

The Iron Bridge is a bridge that crosses the River Severn in Shropshire, England. Opened in 1781, it was the first arch bridge in the world to be made of cast iron, and was greatly celebrated after construction owing to its use of the new material.
In 1934 it was designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument and closed to vehicular traffic. Tolls for pedestrians were collected until 1950, when ownership of the bridge was transferred to Shropshire County Council. The bridge, the adjacent settlement of Ironbridge and the Ironbridge Gorge form the UNESCO Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. The bridge is a Grade I listed building, and a waypoint on the South Telford Heritage Trail.

The fortress was finished in 1672 and formed a part of King Christian IV's plan for defense of Kristiansand when the city was founded in 1641. The architect of the fortress was quartermaster general Willem Coucheron. It was built on an islet, about 100 yards from shore. Today the fortress is connected to the mainland.
The only time the fortress has been in battle was against a British fleet force, led by HMS Spencer (1800) in 1807 during the Napoleonic Wars. One of the very few remaining larger warships under Danish-Norwegian command was the ship of the line HDMS Prinds Christian Frederik with 70 cannons that was in the eastern harbor of Kristiansand. Captain Stopford on board HMS Spencer ordered to sail toward the city and announced in a letter that he wanted to take over the HDMS Prinds Christian Fredrik, and threatened to open fire on the city if the ship were not disclosed. When the ships approached, they were met by fierce resistance from Christiansholm Fortress. The attack was repulsed by massive gunfire and the British sailed instead to the abandoned Fredriksholm Fortress, which was blown up and destroyed.
The fortress was decommissioned by royal decree during June 1872 as part of a major redevelopment of fortifications across the nation.
Today, Christiansholm is a tourist attraction by the Kristiansand Boardwalk and venue for a variety of cultural events and festivities. It is now owned by the municipality and is a site used principally for recreation and cultural events.

The State Bank of Vietnam (Vietnamese: Ngân hàng Nhà nước Việt Nam) is the central bank of Vietnam. It currently holds an about 65% stake of VietinBank - the country's largest listed bank by capital.
Several of the State Bank of Vietnam’s buildings are inherited from the Banque de l'Indochine. These include the State Bank’s headquarters in Hanoi with French art-deco architecture, former Hanoi office completed in 1930; the Ho Chi Minh City branch, former central office in Indochina, also completed in 1930; and the branches in Haiphong (completed in 1925) and Nam Định (completed in 1929) among others.
When Indochina was under French rule, the colonial government governed the Indochinese monetary system through Banque de l'Indochine, which also acted as a commercial bank in French Indochina.
After the August Revolution in 1945, the government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam gradually attempted to exercise a monetary system independent from France. On 6 May 1951, president Hồ Chí Minh signed decree 15/SL on establishment of National Bank of Vietnam (Ngân hàng Quốc gia Việt Nam). On 21 January 1960, the governor of the bank signed an ordinance on behalf of the prime minister to rename the bank State Bank of Vietnam (Ngân hàng Nhà nước Việt Nam)
In the foreground we see part of "Tensei Tenmoku" is the title of this sculpture that is located at the end of the dike of the fishing port of Garachico, Tenerife - Canary Islands.
It means "Door without door" and was realized in the year 2002 by the Japanese artist Kan Yasuda. It is built in white rattle marble, is a composition of minimalist style, that integrates perfectly in the landscape.
In the background you can see the Roque de Garachico. In 1994 it adopted its present name of Natural Monument of Roque de Garachico. It is a volcanic geological formation of basaltic castings of 77 meters high and 5 hectares of surface, separated from land about 300 m. by marine erosion.
Its vegetation is scarce, with a majority presence of cardones and tabaibas. Its walls constitute a nesting point and refuge for several migratory birds and others that are threatened like the Petrel of Bulwer (Bulweria bulwerii), the small pardela (Puffinus assimilis baroli) or the paiño of Madeira (Oceanodroma castro). It is, moreover, a classic place of observation of heron (Ardea cinerea), a species that in the past has been established that nestled in the Canaries, at present has not been able to confirm.
The Roque de Garachico was declared a natural monument and area of ecological sensitivity by the Autonomous Law 12/94, later recast with the Law of Ordination of the Territory of the Canary Islands by Legislative Decree 1/2000.
"Everyone can ... believe what he wants, if he is only honest." This is an excerpt from a decree by Frederick II, with which he reacted, among other things, to the song "Nun ruhen alle Wälder" by Paul Gerhard. But that was a few hundred years ago. On our hike on Nat'Our Route 5, before Vianden, on the descent from the Lätgesberg (border path between Germany and Luxembourg), there is a magnificent view of this little chapel on the mountain opposite.

Vietnam Flag
The flag of Vietnam, or “cờ đỏ sao vàng” (red flag with yellow star), was designed in 1955 and used during an uprising against French rule in southern Vietnam that year. Red symbolizes the bloodshed and revolutionary struggle. The star represents the five main classes in Vietnamese society—intellectuals, farmers, workers, businesspeople and military personnel.
The flag was used by the Viet Minh, a communist-led organization created in 1941 to oppose Japanese occupation. At the end of World War II, Viet Minh leader Ho Chi Minh proclaimed Vietnam independent and signed a decree on 5 September 1945 adopting the flag as the flag of the North Vietnam.
The fortress was finished in 1672 and formed a part of King Christian IV's plan for defense of Kristiansand when the city was founded in 1641. There are several stories about the flower,
And each one is beautiful in its own way...
I'll tell you one of them now.,
About how the dahlia appeared...
the flower was the property of the kings,
In the gardens of the palaces, he only showed off,
No one dared to take it out of the garden.,
But everyone admired him at the palace.
In order for the garden to bloom, there must be a gardener...
And here he was, named George,
And, as expected, he was in love with a girl,
She was the most precious thing in the world!
And he was able to smuggle out a sprout,
And he planted it at the house where the bride is..
But the mystery did not remain in silence,
the king was angry and could not find a place...
The decree was swift, George was captured,
Imprisoned forever, forever... In
the name of George - "dahlia",
No longer royal, they love everywhere....(From my garden)

your servant will meditate on your decrees.
Your statutes are my delight;
they are my counselors.
Psalm 119:21-24
Long long ago, in a simpler time, it was possible to stand at the end of the sea wall where I live, and take photos of people in the surf. Now the nanny state has decreed that the wall shall obstruct the view and none shall have a clear view of the break. Long long ago when I got my first zoom lens I would hang out on the sea wall and take action shots of people in the surf. The shots in this set were taken in 2006 and have languished too long in my archive. I hope you enjoy them.

A SONG OF ETERNITY IN TIME.
ONCE, at night, in the manor wood
My Love and I long silent stood,
Amazed that any heavens could
Decree to part us, bitterly repining.
My Love, in aimless love and grief,
Reached forth and drew aside a leaf
That just above us played the thief
And stole our starlight that for us was shining.
A star that had remarked her pain
Shone straightway down that leafy lane,
And wrought his image, mirror-plain,
Within a tear that on her lash hung gleaming.
"Thus Time," I cried, '" is but a tear
Some one hath wept 'twixt hope and fear,
Yet in his little lucent sphere
Our star of stars, Eternity, is beaming."
S Lanier
IMAGINE
a mirror with a little girl crying inside. The soul heir to a 10 billion dollar estate her father left behind
IMAGINE
7 men stand guard of her, and watch her every move. As her heart grows colder and colder..
Until she meets U. .
All 7 and we'll watch them fall ..
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savoir-faire.. No one in the whole universe will ever compare
I am yours now and u are mine
And together we'll love through
All space and time, so don't cry
One day all 7 will die
And I saw an angel come down unto me
In her hand she holds the very key, words of compassion, words of peace
And in the distance an army's marching feet but behold, we will watch them fall
And we lay down on the sand of the sea and before us animosity will stand and decree. .
That we speak not of love only blasphemy
And in the distance, 6 others will curse me; but that's alright, (that's alright)
4 I will watch them fall (1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
All 7 and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savoir-faire.. No one in the whole universe will ever compare..
I am yours now and u are mine
And together we'll love through
All space and time, so don't cry
One day all 7 will die
[(Just how old)]
And we will see a plague and a river of blood
And every evil soul will surely die in spite of
Their 7 tears, but do not fear
4 in the distance, 12 souls from now U and me will still be here
We will still be here
There will be a new city with streets of gold
The young so educated they never grow old
And a, there will be no death 4 with every breath
A voice of many colors sings a song that's so bold..
Sing it while we watch them fall
All 7 and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savoir-faire
No one in the whole universe
Will ever compare
I am yours now and u are mine
And together we'll love through
All space and time, so don't cry
One day all 7 will die
(Just how old)

Blue dome of Bibi-Khanym Mosque, city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan
The enormous congregational Bibi-Khanym Mosque, one of the Islamic world’s biggest mosques (the cupola of the main mosque is 41m high and the pishtak 38m), pushed contemporary construction techniques to the limit, so much so that the dome started crumbling even before construction had finished.
Legend says that Bibi-Khanym (the nickname of Saray Mulk Khanym), Timur’s Chinese wife, ordered the mosque built as a surprise while he was away. The architect fell madly in love with her and refused to finish the job unless he could give her a kiss. The smooch left a mark and Timur, on seeing it, executed the architect and decreed that women should henceforth wear veils so as not to tempt other men.
However, historians believe Bibi-Khanym Mosque was built by order of Tamerlane himself.
1 Kings 2:3 New International Version (NIV)
3 and observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go.

Fornace Penna is an industrial archaeological site located in Sicily, in the municipality of Scicli. It was built at the beginning of last century and for a few years it was a flourishing brick factory that brought work and wealth in the region until someone, who did not like it, decreed the end. The factory, in fact, was destroyed in 1924 by arson and was no longer rebuilt. One of the many examples, in Sicily, of what could have been and was not .

These photographs are from May 2020 and correspond to the series called "Constitutional Walks". In reality, they were walks against the government decree so that we would not move freely outside the home. The decree was unconstitutional. The gulfs of the Constitutional Court took two years to "discover it". Reading the decree when it was published, it was known that it did not conform to the current Constitution.
And there was some exchange of opinion on the subject with some overzealous police officer.
And, clearly, if General Franco never arrested me at home, he was not going to allow this bunch of incompetent bunglers. This is the story.
Isaiah 40:3-5
A voice cries out,
“In the wilderness clear a way for the Lord;
construct in the desert a road for our God.
Every valley must be elevated,
and every mountain and hill leveled.
The rough terrain will become a level plain,
the rugged landscape a wide valley.
The splendor of the Lord will be revealed,
and all people will see it at the same time.
For the Lord has decreed it.”
Norway.
The Altenberger Dom (or Bergischer Dom) is the former abbey church of Altenberg Abbey which was built from 1259 in Gothic style by Cistercians. Listed as a cultural heritage, it is located in Altenberg, now part of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Until 1511, the church was the burial site of counts and dukes of Berg and the dukes of Jülich-Berg.
Badly damaged after the monastery was dissolved in 1803 due to the secularisation of Germany, the church was rebuilt with support from Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia, who decreed in 1857 that it was to serve as a parish church simultaneously for a Catholic and a Protestant parish.
The German name has sometimes been translated to English as Altenberg Cathedral, but it was never a cathedral, a bishop's seat.

The basilica arose from the idea, proposed by father Julio Matovelle in 1883, of building a monument as a perpetual reminder of the consecration of Ecuador to the Sacred Heart. President Luis Cordero issued the decree on July 23, 1883, and it was carried out by president José María Plácido Caamaño on March 5, 1884. The congress, in accordance with the year's budget, designated 12,000 pesos for the construction - 1,000 pesos per month, beginning in 1884. By the decree of July 3, 1885, the fourth Quitense Provincial Council turned the construction of the basilica into a religious commitment in the name of the country. In 1887, the Issodum Fathers began construction for five years, with the approval of Pope Leo XIII. The Oblato fathers donated the land for the basilica. To continue construction, donations were accepted from believers, who provided stones in exchange for engraving their names on them. In 1895, the state established a tax on salt to continue the building.
In 1901, Father Matovelle and his Community of Missionary Monks, took charge of the construction at the request of Archbishop Pedro Rafael González Calisto. The building was designed by architect Emilio Tarlier at the cost of 40,000 French francs. Tarlier was inspired by the Bourges Cathedral. On July 10, 1892, the first stone was placed. Between 1892 and 1909, the Heart of Mary Cathedral was constructed. The basilica was blessed by Pope John Paul II on January 30, 1985, and it was consecrated and inaugurated on July 12, 1988.
The basilica remains technically "unfinished." Local legend says that when the Basílica is completed, the end of the world will come.
The waterfront in Wellington, NZ
The harbour is an ironing board;
Flat iron tugs dash smoothing toward
Any shirt of a ship, any pillowslip
Of a freighter they decree
Must be ironed flat as washing from the sea.
