From the same evening as An Edict From Above and Whispers Of Glory.

At one point while I was using the D750, my wife decided to try a pano with her Galaxy S5 smartphone. I say try because everything was moving pretty fast and it was quite windy - didn't know if it would turn out. Well, it turned out pretty good, but it got a whole LOT better when I brought it into Photoshop.

This is the result. Hope you like it.

As times became more tolerant, Catholics were allowed to share the Protestant garrison church, the present Trinity Church, with a decree of Elector Frederick from 1805.

It was built in 1724 for the Reformed, but was never taken over by them. In 1806, Catholics and Protestants were placed on an equal footing and the Catholic parish was founded. However, it was subject to strong state control.

City cemetery

This burial was created in 1829 after burial was prohibited by Royal Decree on 1 January 1829. In the 19th century it was the that the elite were buried in the church. All other burgers were buried around the church. The prohibition to bury the deceased in the church, two locations were chosen as the new cemetery, namely at Deurningerstraat “Het Boerenkerkhof” and at Espoortstraat. Both cemeteries are inaugurated on January 1, 1829.

Since both cemeteries soon became too small, the municipality of Enschede to build a new cemetery on the Noord Esmarkerondweg. On November 1, 1899, this cemetery was put into use and no new rent and private graves were issued in the cemetery on Espoortstraat. On May 17, 1924, the cemetery at Espoortstraat was closed permanently.

The city cemetery on Espoortstraat was owned by the Reformed Municipality in Enschede and was subsequently assigned to the Municipality of Enschede

The church known as the collegiate church of San Martín de Elines (located in San Martín de Elines, Cantabria) is the most outstanding in Valderredible due to its size, monumentality and beauty, during the Middle Ages it was the main monastery in the valley. Currently, it is considered a BIC (Asset of Cultural Interest) (it was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument belonging to the National Artistic Treasure by decree of June 3, 1931).

However, little of its documentation has been preserved, although the book "Miseria de Ome" was written in it, one of the few preserved from the Cuaderna Vía. Already in the 10th century it must have been important, since in the current cemetery there are some Mozarabic arches and some windows in the northern wall of the cloister from this period. This Mozarabic factory seems to have been permanently ruined in 1102 and it must have been on this date that the current Romanesque church was started, one of the first in Cantabria, although the cloister seems to be much later, from the 16th century.

In this cloister there is an important collection of sarcophagi, some of them beautifully decorated. There is one that is very striking due to the richness of its reliefs, already Gothic, from the 13th century. On the back of its lid there is a long sword and an inscription from the year 1231. The shell of the pilgrim to Santiago appears, which suggests that it could be some infant or nobleman who passed through the monastery on the way to Compostela, where he met his death. .

Outside, the apse and, in general, the sequence of corbels on the cornices are noteworthy. On the right wall of this apse there is the only remains of Romanesque painting in Cantabria with the representation of two apostles.

A SONG OF ETERNITY IN TIME.

ONCE, at night, in the manor wood

My Love and I long silent stood,

Amazed that any heavens could

Decree to part us, bitterly repining.

My Love, in aimless love and grief,

Reached forth and drew aside a leaf

That just above us played the thief

And stole our starlight that for us was shining.

A star that had remarked her pain

Shone straightway down that leafy lane,

And wrought his image, mirror-plain,

Within a tear that on her lash hung gleaming.

"Thus Time," I cried, '" is but a tear

Some one hath wept 'twixt hope and fear,

Yet in his little lucent sphere

Our star of stars, Eternity, is beaming."

THE EMBRACE

Meeting streams of life

exchange intense desires for return

piezoelectric stresses release

Like majestic rivers melting together

and at first quiet waves then rear up

tumultuously rippling in triumphant

doodles of candid foam

Listen time runs away

but not this gloomy pain

The silvery sound of the carillon

at the fourth ramp broke

and my exile was decreed forever

A colorful sunset in the colors of the flag of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Wikipedia: The flag of the Kingdom of Thailand shows five horizontal stripes in the colors red, white, blue, white and red, with the central blue stripe being twice as wide as each of the other four. The design was adopted on 28 September 1917, according to the royal decree issued by Rama VI. Since 2016, that day is a national day of importance in Thailand celebrating the flag.

The colors are said to stand for nation-religion-king, an unofficial motto of Thailand, red for the land and people, white for religions and blue for the monarchy, the last having been the auspicious color of Rama VI. As the king declared war on Germany that July, some note the flag now bore the same colors as those of the UK, France, Russia and the United States.

City Sergiev Posad, Moscow region. Houses on the bank of a frozen pond. The house for the swans is still empty..On March 22, 1782, Catherine II signed a decree according to which Sergiev Posad was established from villages and settlements near the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. The name is associated with the name of Sergius of Radonezh, the founder of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, around which the posad was formed.

In 1919, Sergiev Posad was transformed into the city of Sergiev..Sergiev Posad was incorporated into the Golden Ring of Russia in 1969. The city houses the Stavropegic Monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site - the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.

Moscow aqueduct, rather only a fragment. This is the only surviving structure of the first in Moscow, and in Russia, gravity water pipeline - the Rostokinsky aqueduct. The bridge passes over the Yauza, is made of limestone, has 21 arched spans, up to 15 m high, 356 m long. Architects - engineer F.V. Bauer and Colonel I.K. Gerard.

The need for a water supply system in Moscow became especially acute after the plague of 1771, and in 1780, by decree of Catherine II, its construction began. Periodic indignations of the residents, through whose lands he passed, restless groundwater, ordinary Russian theft (the cost of water supply amounted to more than 1,600,000 rubles) delayed construction for 25 years. The year of birth of the Mytishchi water pipeline was 1804, and the largest stone bridge for that time, the Rostokinsky aqueduct, was built earlier, in 1783–1784.

The aqueduct ceased to be used for its intended purpose at the end of the 19th century.

In 2006-2008. The Rostokinsky aqueduct was freed from the heating main, put in order, restored, received a decorative roof and became a pedestrian. A pleasant park was laid out around it.

Moscow cityscape - Big Stone Bridge and the Christ the Savior Cathedral.

Big Stone Bridge - one of the bridges across the Moscow River.

At the site of the later bridge, apparently, from the very beginning there was a ford in Moscow, through which the was a road from Ryazan to Novgorod. Then was arranged a floating ("live") bridge, bred for the passage of ships. Against bridge at the end of the XVI century. were arranged, All Saints (Water) gates of the White City, named for the nearby standing (near the modern temple of Christ the Savior) Church of All Saints, on the Moat. In 1643 by decree of Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich master of Strasbourg Yagonom Kristlerom began construction of the first permanent stone bridge across the Moscow River from All Saints Gate. In 1938, slightly lower down the river, was built, modern bridge.Currently, from the bridge offers views of Kremlin, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, "House on the Embankment" Bersenёvskuyu, Prechistenskaya and the Sofia embankment.

Of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow - Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church. The existing structure, built in 1990, is a re-creation of the same name outside the temple, created in the XIX century.

The original of the temple was built in memory of the Napoleonic invasion by architect KA Ton. Construction lasted almost 44 of the year: the church was founded September 23, 1839, consecrated on May 26, 1883. The temple was destroyed at the height of Stalin's reconstruction of the city 5 December 1931. It rebuilt in 1994-1997.

Thanks to its increasing acceptance of urban buildings the chances of seeing a Peregrine, the fastest bird in flight, are increasing. Their fate, however, has followed a mixed history. Prized for falconry they were protected by royal decree in medieval times prior to becoming the object of persecution when hunting with guns became the 'sport' of the day. During the Second World War around 600 were exterminated by the government in order to protect message-carrying homing pigeons. Further to this, during the 50's and 60's numbers suffered a massive decline due to the increased use of pesticides injested through prey eaten and causing breeding failure due to eggshell thinning. Fortunately the tables have turned and conservation efforts have resulted in increased numbers of this thrilling raptor of the sky.

Thank you all for your kind responses.

The Russfin gold dredge is a mechanical shovel located in the town of Russfin, 37 km. west of Villa Cameron, in the commune of Timaukel in the province of Tierra del Fuego, Chile. The cast iron machine is a vestige of what was the origin of the settlement of the island by foreigners, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was brought from England at the time of the gold rush and was used to remove the earth in the extraction of the mineral. It functioned between 1904 and 1910. It was declared a Historical Monument by Supreme Decree No. 556 of 1976.

*** New species ***

This turtledove comes to join my photo gallery.

A big thank you to all for your visits, your comments, and favorites too, which are always very much appreciated.

The Ministry of Ecological and Inclusive Transition has just submitted for public consultation a draft decree aimed at suspending the hunting of the Turtle Dove until July 30, 2022.

The League for the Protection of Birds (LPO) gives a favorable opinion to this draft decree.

According to the monitoring of common birds, the turtledove lost 50% of its numbers between 2001 and 2019.

It is a fierce species and difficult to see.

From the end of April to the September migration, the turtledove is rather a bird of open landscapes dotted with trees, bushes, hedges and groves. It is often found in the thickets bordering cultivated land, where it forages most of its food.

Ponte della Maddalena (Italian: "Bridge of Mary Magdalene") is a bridge crossing the Serchio river near the town of Borgo a Mozzano in the Italian province of Lucca. One of numerous medieval bridges known as Ponte del Diavolo, the "Bridge of the Devil", it was a vital river crossing on the Via Francigena, an early medieval road to Rome for those coming from France that was an important medieval pilgrimage route.

The bridge is a remarkable example of medieval engineering, probably commissioned by the Countess Matilda of Tuscany circa 1080-1100. It was renovated circa 1300 under the direction of Castruccio Castracani. The largest span is 37.8 m. The bridge is also described in a 14th-century novella by Giovanni Sercambi of Lucca.

Circa 1500 it took on the name of Ponte della Maddalena, from an oratory dedicated to Mary Magdalene, whose statue stood at the foot of the bridge on the eastern bank.

In 1670 the General Council of the Republic of Lucca issued a decree prohibiting passage over the bridge with millstones (ceppi) and sacks of flour in order to preserve the structure.

The last time I saw a Pheasant was 9 years ago at Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware. Today, while waiting for the Harrier's to fly by, 6 Pheasant's crossed the service road. This handsome fella' paused for a few seconds and hammed it up for me. I only wish the Harrier's were as accommodating.

Merry Christmas to all my Flickr friends

The town of Vienne sits on the banks of the River Rhone about twenty miles south of Lyon . Vienne is a town with a lot of history to put it mildly . Its most glorious building in the Roman temple of Augustus and Livia that was built in 40 CE. It's one of two Roman temples that still stand in France . It is extraordinary that it has survived for two millennia .

The temple is right in the middle of town there are cafes and small supermarkets on the same street . It's extraordinary to me at least that you might pop into the shop for a jar of coffee and on your way out see a building that is 2,000 years old . I guess it's one reason I i am happy to live in the Old world, you do have a sense of the continuity of human activity. Even in Hull should I want to I can go into Hull Minster were people have gathered together for over a thousand years . History not written in books but available to the touch the power of old stones.

A bit of history of the temple

Two important Roman monuments still stand at Vienne. One is the Early Imperial temple of Augustus and Livia, a rectangular peripteral building of the Corinthian order, erected by the emperor Claudius, which owes its survival, like the Maison Carrée at Nîmes, to being converted to a church soon after the Theodosian decrees in 381 CE that started to attack paganism and replace it with Christianity

A SONG OF ETERNITY IN TIME.

ONCE, at night, in the manor wood

My Love and I long silent stood,

Amazed that any heavens could

Decree to part us, bitterly repining.

My Love, in aimless love and grief,

Reached forth and drew aside a leaf

That just above us played the thief

And stole our starlight that for us was shining.

A star that had remarked her pain

Shone straightway down that leafy lane,

And wrought his image, mirror-plain,

Within a tear that on her lash hung gleaming.

"Thus Time," I cried, '" is but a tear

Some one hath wept 'twixt hope and fear,

Yet in his little lucent sphere

Our star of stars, Eternity, is beaming."

The Bobolink, Eastern Meadowlark and Grasshopper Sparrow were once very common grassland birds found throughout Pennsylvania and many other states. As farmlands and grasslands are being developed, so go these birds. They are now uncommon to rare. It's always a joy to hear, see and photograph these birds.

I am laid low in the dust;

preserve my life according to your word.

I gave an account of my ways and you answered me;

teach me your decrees.

Cause me to understand the way of your precepts,

that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds.

country walk

A few days before the state of alarm was decreed in Spain we came to our house in the country. Many days, too many, have passed since then.

We suffer the horror of the deaths that the Covid-19 is causing.

Fortunately we can enjoy the nature arround us every day without suffering the confinement of Madrid; a freedom that our family and friends cannot enjoy.

And during these walks I take the opportunity to pull my phone and take photos since I forgot to bring the camera with me.

Let us hope that soon everything will be the way it was.

I'm going to take my time

I have all the time in the world

To make you mine

It is written in the stars above

The gods decree

You'll be right here by my side

Right next to me

You can run, but you cannot hide

Don't say you want me

Don't say you need me

Don't say you love me

It's understood

Don't say you're happy

Out there without me

I know you can't be

'cause it's no good

I'll be fine

I'll be waiting patiently

Till you see the signs

And come running to my open arms

When will you realise

Do we have to wait till our worlds collide

Open up your eyes

You can't turn back the tide

Don't say you want me

Don't say you need me

Don't say you love me

It's understood

Don't say you're happy

Out there without me

I know you can't be

'cause it's no good

I'm going to take my time

I have all the time in the world

Þingvellir was the site of the Alþing, the annual parliament of Iceland from the year 930 until the last session held at Þingvellir in 1798. Since 1881, the parliament has been located within Alþingishúsið in Reykjavík.

Þingvellir is now a national park in the municipality of Bláskógabyggð in southwestern Iceland, about 40 km (25 miles) northeast of Iceland's capital, Reykjavík. Þingvellir is a site of historical, cultural, and geological significance, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Iceland. The park lies in a rift valley that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. To its south lies Þingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.

Þingvellir National Park was founded in 1930, marking the 1000th anniversary of the Althing. The park was later expanded to protect the diverse and natural phenomena in the surrounding area, and was designated as a World Heritage Site in 2004.

Þingvellir became a national park as a result of legislation passed in 1928 to protect the remains of the parliament site, thus creating the first national park in Iceland. The park was decreed "a protected national shrine for all Icelanders, the perpetual property of the Icelandic nation under the preservation of parliament, never to be sold or mortgaged.

According to the Book of Settlements (Landnámabók), the settlement of Iceland began in 874, when the Norwegian chieftain Ingólfr Arnarson became the first permanent Norwegian settler on the island. Over the next centuries, people of Norse and Celtic origin settled in Iceland. Early on, district assemblies were formed, but as the population grew, there was a need for a general assembly. The descendants of Ingólfur who dominated the region of southwest Iceland had become the most powerful family in the country, and other chieftains felt a need for a general assembly to limit their power.

Grímur Geitskör was allotted the role of rallying support and finding a suitable location for the assembly. At about the same time, the owner of Bláskógar (the contemporary name for the Þingvellir region) was found guilty of murder. His land was declared public, and then obligated to be used for assembly proceedings, and the building of temporary dwellings, and the forest to be used for kindling and the grazing of horses. The Þingvellir area was chosen for this reason and for its accessibility to the most populous regions of the north, south and west. The longest journey a goði (chieftain) had to travel was 17 days, from the easternmost part of the country where mountains and glacial rivers proved bothersome obstacles.

The foundation of the Icelandic parliament is said to be the founding of the nation of Iceland, and the first parliamentary proceedings in the summer of 930 laid the ground for a common cultural heritage and national identity. Þingvellir played a central role in the history of the country, and its history runs almost parallel with the history of the Icelandic Commonwealth.

AUTUMN LEAVES – EDITH PIAF (Les Feuilles Mortes)

Autumn sweeps in with coolness of breeze

enraptures the colours of nature with ease

captures the turning burnishing leaves

as they escape some are caught making art as they tease

and coax with enchantment our smiles; make believe

in the magic of the seasons and the balm that relieves

warms us in Winter so we do not grieve

the passing of the seasons and the reasons we leave

to be answered by a higher authority then retrieved

filtering through the ether; responding to our needs

the good to be alive days as we fall to our knees

whispering our thanks in prayers; exacting good deeds

the season of goodwill to all men needs no plea

for it becomes second nature when we thank God and please

Him who carries our burden; who grants us the Tree

of Life that grows strong and tall; it's decreed

that our roots cannot be uprooted and our goodness will feed

the Earth and will nourish generations who succeed

and walk in our footsteps and never concede

defeat over big things or small things but lead

mankind to a better way of life without greed

remembering the true message; remembering to heed

the lessons we are taught and sow and set seed

to live, love, embrace everyone no matter their creed.

I didn't get the 6 months free of hospital pass that I thought I would, so tomorrow I am back to the hospital for an MRI/MRCP scan, but fingers crossed (and a lot of prayers) all will be ok. HFF and please enjoy a very happy weekend, dear friends. See you all very soon <3

The prosperous little town of Oradour became notorious in June 1944 as the site of a horrendous and unprovoked massacre of 642 residents by the 2nd SS Panzer Division moving North on its way to counter the allied landings in Normandy. General de Gaulle decreed that the burnt‐out town be left exactly as it was, to serve as a memorial and a reminder of the brutality of the Nazis. The tram tracks, old cars, bicycles, sewing machines and general detritus of mid‐20th century life stopped at a moment in time provide an evocative scene to stir the emotions and imagination.
