Rockies National Park, Sprague Lake

In the shimmering heat of the desert, where secrets and shadows danced in the shifting sands, a tale of temptation and deceit unfolded.

The man's name was Lucas, a charming and affluent figure who found himself ensnared by the allure of the Las Vegas lights. It was during a lavish evening at a grand casino that he first encountered Isabella, a high-class callgirl whose beauty and sophistication were unmatched. Their meeting was fated, a collision of two worlds on a collision course.

Amidst the whirlwind of chips, cocktails, and laughter, Lucas and Isabella shared stolen glances that promised hidden pleasures. Unable to resist the magnetic pull, they found themselves in a web of whispered conversations and lingering touches, a dangerous game of cat and mouse.

As the clock struck midnight, Lucas extended an invitation that Isabella couldn't refuse—a night away from the neon chaos, deep within the heart of the desert. With a coy smile and a lingering touch, she agreed. They slipped away from the casino's opulent facade and into the darkness, where the desert winds whispered secrets to the stars.

The motel that awaited them was a hidden gem, a modest oasis amidst the vast expanse of sand. The air-conditioning hummed softly as they entered the dimly lit room, casting shadows that danced upon the walls. The scent of uncertainty mingled with desire, a potent cocktail that heightened their senses.

Isabella's elegant gown cascaded to the floor, revealing a vulnerability that echoed in the space between them. Lucas's conscience stirred, a fleeting whisper of guilt that was quickly drowned by the intoxicating rush of passion. Their hands explored forbidden territories, igniting flames that threatened to consume them both.

The desert night outside was eerily still, as if nature itself held its breath, waiting for the climax of this clandestine encounter. Beads of sweat glistened on Lucas's forehead as he wrestled with his inner demons, torn between the present moment and the life he had carefully constructed.

Hours melted away, leaving behind tangled sheets and whispered promises. But as dawn painted the sky in shades of pink and gold, reality began to settle in like a harsh desert sun. Lucas's gaze shifted from Isabella's sleeping form to his reflection in the motel room mirror, his face etched with the weight of his actions.

With a heavy heart, Lucas slipped away from the motel, leaving behind a slumbering Isabella and a trail of broken vows. As the desert swallowed his car's taillights, he couldn't escape the gnawing emptiness that clawed at his conscience. He had strayed from the path of his own morality, trading a moment of passion for the erosion of his integrity.

In the heart of the desert, where secrets were buried beneath layers of sand and deception, Lucas's tale served as a cautionary reminder that even the most glamorous veneers could not shield one from the consequences of their choices. As the desert winds continued to whisper their ancient stories, his footsteps faded into the horizon, leaving behind a tale of desire, betrayal, and the harsh truth of consequences.

Our ship rode out an overnight storm in the sheltered waters of Deception Island, South Shetlands, Antarctica. A narrow passage allowed entrance from the open ocean to this flooded volcanic caldera. When we awoke next morning, this spectacular landscape greeted us, including a small Spanish supply vessel that was also present. This was presumably heading for the Spanish/Argentinian base on the island. Sadly the wind was far too strong for any zodiac landing to be attempted here, thereby denying us the dubious pleasure of bathing in antarctic waters. Apparently the idea is to dig a pit in the beach sand and let it fill with sea water warmed by the volcanic activity!

A spring storm has been rolling into NW Washington sending waves of showers and wind. An upper level low slowly moved across the area over several days spawning several cool fronts that accompanied and caused the squalls.

Deception Pass State Park straddles the Pass on Fidalgo and Whidbey Islands and is a great place to watch the waves. The tide was ebbing and the water was crashing out of the pass setting up white caps as it met in the incoming wind driven swells flowing in the opposite direction. Just to the right of this photo, in the pass proper, these opposing forces set up huge five foot high standing waves.

I have been experimenting with long exposures and this is an attempt to fog the ocean while still maintaining the details of the squall clouds.

The flow is quite low now in the fall but still beautiful.

Deception Island is an island in South Shetland off the Antarctic Peninsula, which has one of the safest harbours in Antarctica. The island is the caldera of an active volcano, which caused serious damage to the local scientific stations in 1967 and 1969. The island previously held a whaling station; it is now a tourist destination and scientific outpost, with research bases being run by Argentina and Spain. Various countries have previously asserted sovereignty, but it is now administered under the Antarctic Treaty System.

What a sunset this was! I was blown away by the shape of the clouds and the different shades of color!

Taken along the Deception Falls Nature Trail near Stevens Pass. Washington.

The long fetch that is formed by the Strait of Juan de Fuca aims waves right at Deception Pass when the winds turn to the WNW after a cold front finally passes by.

The weather had been cloudy and squally as one impulse after another spun around an upper level low but finally, a cold front cleared out the squalls and the rain but the large swells started rolling in from the Strait. They were crashing into the bedrock that forms the sides of Deception Pass generating sea spray mist that could be seen for several miles inland. These waves were rolling in on almost a high tide so the spray was reaching high up on the shore. The spray was also coating my camera and tripod in salt crystals as the spray would hit them and then the water would evaporate in the gusts.

The fact that the wave crashing into the rocks revealed Clifford the Giant Red Dog peeking around the point was merely a coincidence...

The Deception Pass Bridge began as a dream, became a convenience, and developed into an icon. Curving gracefully between Fidalgo and Whidbey Islands, it crowns the most visited state park in Washington. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, this bridge is recognized for its engineering and elegant architecture that complements the scenic and geologic wonder of Deception Pass. Its history brings together the place, the people, and the popular park that draws visitors from around the world.

Deception Valley Kalahari Botswana

This is over on North Beach early morning and there is probably 40 fisherman standing behind me. The humpy's are running along the beach and my mom caught one and gave it to me that night. For all my trusty horizon watchers I definately payed attention this time and I really think that it might be barrel distortion from shooting @ 12mm. I had my bubble level going and my digital in camera level so I'm gonna have to hook up the camedia software to get this distortion in check. Thanks for lookn:)

i wish people could know what i am honestly thinking & feeling whilst the shutter clicks each time...
