Deception Pass Storm
A spring storm has been rolling into NW Washington sending waves of showers and wind. An upper level low slowly moved across the area over several days spawning several cool fronts that accompanied and caused the squalls.
Deception Pass State Park straddles the Pass on Fidalgo and Whidbey Islands and is a great place to watch the waves. The tide was ebbing and the water was crashing out of the pass setting up white caps as it met in the incoming wind driven swells flowing in the opposite direction. Just to the right of this photo, in the pass proper, these opposing forces set up huge five foot high standing waves.
I have been experimenting with long exposures and this is an attempt to fog the ocean while still maintaining the details of the squall clouds.
